The beta of New Moon is in the middle of an explanation when Matt blows in, rage in his bright blue irises.“Andrew, leave,” he growls, his chest heaving, his eyes shifting between black and their normal color. Andrew’s eyes slide between us, concern in his frown lines, but he doesn’t say more, leaving without a word.“Matt, what?” Before I have the chance to finish, he pulls me into his arms, burying his face in my neck, inhaling deeply. Sparks are sending my body haywire, the contact from his touch overwhelming. FLETCHER POV “Look who finally removed himself from Charity’s face,” Matt snipes. Aggravation surrounds him, soaking his aura. His shitty attitude nettles, wounding my pride. I’m here to say I’m sorry and thank you, yet he acts like a fucking dick? Being the bigger person in these situations is getting exhausting and I refuse to continue. “Don’t say-” Mars warns me, clawing for control, but the backhanded jealous remark falls like vomit. A bodily response I cannot stop. “Like you’re one to talk.” I snort, rolling my eyes at his unknown anger. I remind myself that he is a devoted pack wolf, and doesn’t know the outside world like I do. “Are you the pot? Or the kettle?” “You’re supposed to be telling him the truth!” Mars screams, furious at my refusal to play nice. I’m tired of playing nice. “He’s not ready to hear it.” I shake. There will be a time when it’s right. When he’ll understand but it isn’t today. The knowledge will distract him more, and Charity needs him at his top game.
