Chapter 14

Quincy followed Emma up several flights of stairs and through a maze of hallways. Finally, she stopped and entered the room without knocking. An older couple was sitting at a desk talking quietly. When she approached they looked up, "Emma, we weren't expecting you. What has happened?' Emma hugged the man and the woman. "Mom, Dad, this is my Beta Quincy. I came to discuss with the King an attack on my mate. It appears that he has been targeted because he is a pure lycan." Her parents looked surprised. "It's nice to meet you, Beta Quincy. Come and have a seat with us. Tell us everything you know." Emma and Quincy told them about the attack and the investigation. When they were done, her parents were thoughtful. "Well, I don't think it's a good idea for you to be in the middle of this in your condition. How far along are you?"

Emma blushed but told her parents about the baby. She shared with them her fears of Alpha Daryl not waking up before the birth. "Don't worry dear. You are strong.
