Zaden's Pov…

Tonight was my parents' death anniversary. I lost my parents when I was five years old in a car accident. My mum died during the accident while both my Dad and I survived.

But when the news of my mum's death reached my Dad, the doctor said his heart gave up, and he passed away that same day.

I had been in a coma for about 5 months after the accident. So I really didn't have much of a memory about the accident. Just what my grandparents had told me. My grandparents raised me as their child, and I was the only heir to the Blackwell empire.

When I got the invite to Mr Grayson's 50th birthday celebration, I was skeptical about attending, as Mr Grayson and I were not really friends; we were more like business rivals since I had tried purchasing his company a few years back when it was on the verge of bankruptcy.

I made up my mind to attend eventually because I wasn't ready to be left alone with my thoughts, as this day was usually a torment for me. I usually spend this day with my grandparents at their mansion, but I had been avoiding them for months due to their constant nagging about an heir, which I was already bored with.

The event had just started, and I decided to retreat to an empty room to gather my thoughts. I had lit one of my cigarettes when the door opened and two people who seemed to be having a heated conversation walked in.

They were so engrossed in their conversation that they hadn't noticed my presence. Neither did I want to give myself away as I wasn’t in the mood for any form of interaction.

It wasn’t until the other guy, who, after overhearing their conversation, was the boyfriend, tried to force himself on her. I could be many things, but I could never stand women's abuse. That’s when I decided to step in.

I dragged him from behind and threw him to the floor. That’s when my eyes met hers. She had gray eyes, which were full of surprise. I knew I had seen those eyes somewhere. We were still in a stare-down as I tried to recall where I had seen them, before it finally clicked— it was Miss Grayson.

I remember those eyes because of how they stared daggers at me during the negotiation meeting held some few years back when their company was on the verge of bankruptcy.

We were still holding each other’s gazes when the bastard tried to lurch a punch at me.

Thanks to my fast reflexes, he missed and ended up punching the wall. He cursed out loud as he looked at me in fury.

This wasn’t how I planned on spending the night exchanging punches. But it was a good way for me to let out some steam. I had landed a few punches to his torso before I let him fall to the ground.

“You b*tch! So it seems I wasn’t the only one humping another person, huh? Yet you dare judge me acting all self-righteous. Well, good thing I also got to see your side piece too”. He spat out at Miss Grayson, who just stared at him in disbelief at the words coming out of his mouth.

I had put a call to my assistant, Alex, to come see him before he caused any more trouble or a scene.

“I don't need anyone to see me outside as I am already on my way out. Have fun with your side piece”. He blurted out as he side-stepped my assistant.

All the while, Miss Grayson didn’t reply to the bastard; she just held his gaze in disbelief.

I couldn’t help but wonder how someone like Miss Grayson would end up dating such a weak piece of sh*t.

I didn’t know much about her, but from the little I knew from my research on Grayson Enterprise, she was a strong young lady who was actually the brains behind Grayson Enterprise.

After he left, Miss Grayson and I were enveloped in an uncomfortable silence.

Until a sob broke out.

I was shocked watching her break down. She subconsciously leaned into me as she cried with her shoulders shaking. I guess this day wasn’t only bad for me.

She had stopped crying yet was still in my embrace as I gently stroked her back. I didn’t even know why, but I wanted to just care for her until she was okay. I guess the day had also gotten to me because even my own actions shocked me.

Soon she regained composure without a trace of the woman who had just been crying a few minutes ago.

“Well, thank you for taking care of Felix, but make no mistake, I haven't forgotten who you are, Mr Blackwell !!”. She said and looked at me with the same eyes she had at that meeting.

I was a bit shocked at how quickly she regained composure. Just as I was about to speak, her phone rang and she left, taking the call.

Alex had been waiting by the door for me. Once Miss Grayson left, he went in. I knew he must have heard her sobs.

“Save what you are about to say. I am not in the mood to hear it.”

While Alex waved his hands in the air, feigning surrender, with a smirk on his lips.

Then, with a serious expression, he said:

“You might want to see this. "There have been some recent discoveries about your parents' accident”.

He handed some papers to me, which confirmed my earlier suspicions.

I suddenly needed a drink. I decided to retreat to my hotel room for the night. Then I helped myself with a few drinks. That was when I heard the door open.

I was already feeling lightheaded and dizzy, but I could perceive her sweet smell of vanilla and her eyes, which looked familiar. But I couldn't really place it.

Mila’s POV…Standing in front of the Grayson mansion in oversized pants and a baggy tee was definitely not how I thought I would face my father after our last meeting. I gripped the hem of my shirt tighter, it was so big that it reached all the way to my knees, swallowing me whole. What was I thinking, leaving the restaurant this way? I should have at least gotten dressed.I thought to myself as I stood in front of the large mansion gates to the house I grew up in.I pushed every thought of Zaden away. Though something deep lingered within my chest, probably guilt from how I left the restaurant abruptly. There's no reason to feel guilty. We're not dating and he's not entitled to know my movements. We both needed that reminder, and it was high time we stuck to the boundaries we had set.I didn't know why I was pissed at Zaden, after all he was fulfilling his end of the contract by showing me.I switched my phone off because I knew once he noticed I was gone, he would be buzzing my

Zaden's pov…I sat on the sofa watching her sleep. She was finally resting after spending the whole night crying in my arms.I held on to her all night like I could mend the broken pieces of her heart together. I was used to betrayal and pain, but not Mila. I wasn't surprised when Alex confirmed she was framed by her sister, but my heart ached for her all the more. Every day I spent with her, I didn't recognize myself anymore. We spent most of the night worshipping ourselves orgasm after orgasm.I was silently grateful for Alex's call, interrupting us; otherwise, we would have crossed the line. Rays of sunlight rested on her back while her flowing hair waves covered her face completely. She looked like a goddess entangled in my sheets. Oh, what I would do to wake her up and take her in different positions without a care in the world…the f*cking contract be dammed. But including sex in our arrangement will only make things hard and complicated especially after our contract per

Mila’s POV…At first, the kiss started light, but something in both of us snapped, and then it grew hungry. We kissed frantically holding on to each other like we were each other's last breath. His hand grasped my face, with his thumb tilting my chin to kiss him deeper. A soft moan climbed up my throat as both our tongues rolled in perfect harmony. He tasted like alcohol and sin. I felt high from our kiss alone. He supported me with his free hand steadying me, while the other roamed and traced the curve of my body. The way he kissed was madness, it felt like being devoured and savoured at the same time. I heard nothing but the wild beating of my own heart in my ears, maybe his too.“I need you,” I whispered in his ear between kisses.I gripped his hair tighter, pulling him closer. A groan reverberated from his chest, and his hands dug deep into my hips. The sound of his groan spread a warmth across my chest, he was enjoying this as much as I was.Nothing ever felt so right, yet so

Zaden's POV… I took out my frustration on the bean bag, punching it until its contents burst on the floor. My knuckles dripped with blood, but I couldn't feel the pain. It was nothing compared to the deep pain settled in my chest when I saw Mila wince as the doctor examined her. She had a second panic attack because of me. I gripped my knuckles around the glass tighter, with my blood dripping all the way down to my elbow. I allowed the smoke of my cigar to envelop me as I stood in my man cave, not so far from the room where Mila lay asleep. I hadn’t smoked in a while, because of Mila and the Baby I decided to quit. But watching Mila wince in pain was absolute torture.I probably wasn't pained at the mere fact that she was hurt, it was a reminder that I failed her. I never fail when it comes to anything or anyone. I had been so distracted with my thoughts centered around her. That night at the hotel didn't cross my mind as a deliberate action by someone.I never treated anyth

Mila's pov…My blood rushed in my ears drowning every other sound. “It can’t be, it’s not possible there has to be some other explanation.” I echoed not sure if it was to convince myself otherwise or the Doctor. “That’s the only possible explanation.” “The first time you were exposed to the substance, did you have a blackout?”“I did, I vaguely remember what even happened that night.” “Exactly that only confirms it,” I couldn’t believe it, Eliza drugged me at the party. I began to connect the dots. Eliza was the only person I drank with at the birthday party; she's the only one who had access to my drink to slip in something. But…why? My head was racing at the same time, and I could feel my heart shattering into a million pieces. The ache I felt in my chest spread through my whole body. The betrayal was so palpable. All my life Eliza had been the only person I looked out for, sticking my neck out for her.Growing up I took a truckload of blame for her mishaps whenever our fathe

Zaden's POV…“Wait,” Mila spoke, stopping my hands from taking off her shirt.I raised my brows to her, "Is there a problem?” "You can't possibly bathe me, Zaden. I am more than capable of doing that myself.”“I would say differently, judging by the fact I had to carry you in here.” “Plus we both know how things turned out the last time I left you alone.”She rolled her eyes, “This is your house, no one is going to attack me in here, and especially not while I am bathing.”“I know, but I can't leave you alone today, not after everything that had already happened.” I resisted the urge to press my forehead to hers and breathe in her scent; instead, I raised my brows, awaiting her “go ahead”.Mila paused for a minute before letting out a long sigh, from the few months she has known me, she already knew I wasn't going to take no for an answer. She winced and shrieked before speaking, “Okay you can be in the bathroom while I bathe.”, “But there's no way on earth I would be letting you ba
