I seriously doubt he strangled his hands like that on purpose.

Sure enough, he looked up at me innocently again, his blue blue eyes blinking and blinking.

"All right," I said, "I'll untie you, but you have to give me a gun!"

"I don't have a gun."

I don't think a guy with his paranoid, cautious personality wouldn't have a few guns stashed around here.

"Say it! Where is the gun?"

He smiled brightly again: "Under your bed, the floor closest to the wall is pry up."

"Very good."

I looked where he said, and sure enough I found two pistols under the floor.

With a weapon in my hand and some relief, I unseated him from his chair.

He still looked at me with a big smile. "You're not afraid I have a gun somewhere else."

"Not afraid. One is enough for me."

Shoot him or shoot yourself, but I won't give him another cha
