Chapter 2 - The Abortion Procedure

I am taken to the hospital by my family.

The doctors bind me to the operating table.

Tears stream down my cheeks as I touch my belly uncontrollably.

I think it's just a dream, and I haven't done anything wrong.

Moreover, the baby has done nothing wrong and is totally innocent. How can I bear to have my baby aborted?

"Baby, I'm sorry. Mom can't protect you."

"Now regretting it? Too late. You should have taken precautions!" The doctor impatiently spreads my legs apart, raising them on the stirrups.

The cold instruments near my vagina, and suddenly, my consciousness becomes clear.

I begin to struggle fiercely, but the doctor has two nurses hold me down with force.

He holds a syringe in his hand, ready to administer anesthesia to me.

"NO!" I cry out in despair, but they easily overpower me.

Just then, the door to the operating room is pushed open!

An older doctor rushes in hurriedly.

"Wait, please stop the procedure immediately!"

The other doctors are puzzled.

I'm also somewhat bewildered.

The doctor, sweating profusely, came to my side and addressed me respectfully, "Excuse me, are you Miss Lily?"

"Yes, I am."

"I've just received orders from higher-ups to stop the procedure immediately. You're free to go now."

The hospital actually proactively stops the procedure?

I'm relieved that my child is safe, but I can't understand why they suddenly call off the surgery. That doctor's fearful attitude indicated that the person giving the orders must be powerful.

Suddenly, two doctors rush in from outside and take me to another ultrasound room.

This time, the doctor's attitude is clearly much better. He calms my nervousness and gestures for me to lie on the bed, making it easier to examine the growth of the fetus inside my belly.

The cold ultrasound probe moves over my lower abdomen.

I dare not speak, but I'm eager to know the current condition of my child.

After the ten-minute examination, the doctor smiles and reassures me, "The fetus is developing normally; it's a healthy baby. You will have everything you want because of this child, Miss Lily."

I heave a sigh of relief. My child is safe, but the doctor's words make me furrow my brows once again.

Have everything?

As I want to inquire further, my father and Catherine, along with Anna, enter the room

. This time, they wear expressions of concern on their faces.

"Lily, are you alright?" Catherine rushes over and holds my hand. "Don't blame your father; he does this for your own good. You haven't graduated yet, and he knows you don't have the ability to support this child. Your father just doesn't want to see your life get ruined."

For my own good?

I hear more than enough of their hypocritical excuses, so I quietly pull my hand back. I know all of this relates to that mysterious man who gave the orders.

"What's all that attitude about? If it weren't for us, you wouldn't even be pregnant with that man's child!" Anna speaks with resentment.

If it weren't for us?

I immediately grab Anna and question, "What do you say?"

But Catherine, suddenly smacks Anna hard. "What nonsense do you talk? Your sister sacrifices everything for our family, and you still selfishly want to take credit?"

"Cut the crap, or I'll kick you out of this house."

Anna doesn't dare to retort, but glares at me with malice.

This is the first time Catherine ever slaps Anna in front of me. I know this proves that the mysterious man brings immense benefits to our family.

More than I can imagine.

Later today, I'm taken back home.

My father arranges several servants for me, and even a doctor to monitor my condition constantly.

However, the only downside is that I can't leave the house.

Yes, I'm being kept prisoner.

I also never see Anna at home again.

My father informs me that, for the sake of her studies, she has moved into the school dormitory.

I know they are afraid that Anna will tell me the truth.

I have been trying to find an opportunity to escape; I don't want my child to be taken away from me. That man will surely try to take my child from me.

Seven months later, I give birth to a baby boy with great effort and manage to escape from their clutches during a shift change.

Five years later.

"Woman, how dare you run away with my child? Do you know who you have offended?" A man's deep voice echoes in my ears.

His appearance overlaps with the man I slept with five years ago.

Terrified, I jolt awake, my heart pounding in my chest.

It is a dream, again.

As I look up, the television is broadcasting the president's speech on measures to reduce unemployment, and I can't take my eyes off it.

Because this man, referred to as the president, is too familiar, and it is as if he is looking straight at me through the screen!

I shudder involuntarily.
