Chapter 32: The Secret in the Locket

The news of the Sterling Wedding swept through New York like a hurricane. This time, everyone knew it was serious.

Jackson wasn't just planning a party; he was building a kingdom for his queen.

"This one? Or this one?"

In the VIP room of New York's most exclusive bridal salon, Celestial, Serenity was drowning in white lace and silk.

Jackson sat on a velvet sofa, sipping espresso. He looked at every dress with intense focus, as if he were analyzing a billion-dollar contract.

"The second one," Jackson pointed. "But the neckline is too low. I don't want other men staring at your chest."

Serenity rolled her eyes. "It's a wedding, Jackson. People look."

"They can look at your face. The rest is mine," Jackson crossed his legs arrogantly.

Just then, the curtain opened, and the legendary designer, Madam Vivian, walked in. She was a stylish woman in her sixties with silver hair and sharp eyes. She only designed for royalty.

"Mr. Sterling," Madam Vivian smiled. "You are very demanding. But for a beauty like Miss Vera, I have something special in the back."

She brought out a vintage-style gown. It was timeless, covered in hand-stitched pearls.

Serenity gasped. "It's beautiful."

She went into the changing room. ten minutes later, she walked out.

Jackson stopped drinking his coffee. He stood up slowly.

She looked... breathtaking. The dress hugged her waist perfectly, and the long train flowed behind her like a cloud.

"Well?" Serenity asked nervously. "Does it look okay?"

"You look..." Jackson’s voice was husky. He walked over and took her hand. "If I wasn't already marrying you, I would propose to you right now."

Serenity blushed.

"Something is missing," Madam Vivian observed, walking around her. " The neck is too bare. Do you have a necklace? Maybe the Pink Star?"

"No," Serenity touched her neck. "I have something else. something... personal."

She walked to her bag and pulled out a small, old silver locket. It was tarnished and looked out of place in this luxurious store.

"It's my 'Something Old'," Serenity smiled sadly. "I grew up in an orphanage. The matron told me this was found in my swaddle when I was abandoned. It’s the only clue I have about my real parents."

She unclasped it and put it on. The old silver contrasted with the expensive dress.

Jackson frowned. He had never seen this before. "May I see it?"

He leaned in to inspect the locket. It had a strange engraving on the back: A crest of a Golden Hawk holding a Rose.

"It's a family crest," Jackson realized. "This isn't cheap jewelry bought at a market. This is aristocratic."

Suddenly, a loud crash startled them.

Madam Vivian had dropped her notebook. Her face was pale, her eyes fixed on the locket on Serenity's neck.

"Madam Vivian?" Serenity asked. "Are you okay?"

The old woman stepped forward, her hands shaking. "Child... where did you get that crest?"

"Like I said, I've had it since I was a baby," Serenity was confused.

Madam Vivian’s breathing became erratic. She stared at Serenity’s face, then at the locket.

"The Golden Hawk and the Rose..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "That is the seal of the Grand Duke of Montbert. It belongs to the Royal Family of a small European kingdom."

Jackson narrowed his eyes. "Royalty?"

"I designed a dress for the Duchess of Montbert twenty-five years ago," Madam Vivian looked at Serenity with shock. "She was wearing this exact locket. She was pregnant at the time. But..."

Madam Vivian paused, looking terrified.

"But the news said the Duchess lost her baby in a fire. The little Princess was declared dead."

The room went dead silent.

Serenity felt a chill run down her spine. "Dead? What are you saying?"

"You look just like her," Madam Vivian covered her mouth. "The eyes... the nose... You look exactly like the young Duchess."

Jackson stepped in, placing a protective hand on Serenity's shoulder. His mind was racing.

Orphan. A locket with a royal crest. A dead princess.

"Madam," Jackson said, his voice low and commanding. "Are you sure about that crest?"

"I never forget a crest," Madam Vivian said firmly.

Jackson looked at Serenity. She looked pale and overwhelmed.

"Jackson," she whispered. "Is it possible?"

"I don't believe in coincidences," Jackson pulled out his phone. "Luke. Stop the wedding prep for a second. Get me a contact in the European Council. Specifically... the Kingdom of Montbert."

He looked at Serenity, his eyes burning with determination.

"It seems, my love, you might not be a 'nobody' after all."

Sparks showered from the ceiling. The sound of tearing metal was deafening. The dining car groaned and tilted violently to the right. Tables, chairs, and expensive wine bottles slid down the slope, crashing into the wall.Jackson slammed one hand into a window frame, his other arm locked around Serenity’s waist. He stopped them from sliding into the pile of broken glass below."Don't let go!" Jackson shouted over the noise.Serenity looked down. Through the shattered window beneath them, she saw nothing but swirling snow and darkness. They were dangling over a canyon."The coupling is breaking!" "Close your eyes," Liam commanded softly. The nursery was dimly lit. Aurora and Alex lay on the large rug, pillows under their heads. Liam sat between them in a lotus position. Jackson and Serenity watched from the couch, feeling useless but alert."Grandpa, this is unscientific," Alex muttered, keeping one eye open. "Telepathy isn't real.""Quantum entanglement is," Liam placed a finger on Alex's forehead and another on Aurora's.
