Jaxon narrowed his eyes, still trying to process Jack’s last sentence.

“A secret crush?” he repeated in disbelief, voice tight and rising. “Oh, no. No, no, no. What the hell are you saying? That’s not true! Are you going nuts?”

His voice cracked slightly, louder than he intended. His chair squeaked as he stood abruptly, knocking his notebook to the floor. A few heads in the classroom turned in their direction, curious but not enough to intervene.

Jack held up his hands in mock surrender, laughing as if he had just told the best joke of the century.

“Calm down, dude,” Jack said with a smirk. “I know what I’m saying. When I see a secret crush, I know. You wear it like perfume.”

Jaxon blinked rapidly, his jaw clenched so tight it ached. His cheeks were burning now, and he could feel sweat beading at his temples. The fact that Jack was joking only made him angrier. Or maybe it wasn’t anger—maybe it was fear.

“My dad always says,” Jack continued, tapping the side of his head like he was dr

She finished what she was doing, folding the last of her laundry before arranging her bed. The room was dimly lit by a single bedside lamp, and the evening air carried the faint scent of lavender from her sheets. It had become a daily routine by now. They would call her—sometimes one by one, sometimes all at once—complaining about each other, their arguments, their stupid fights. And she would listen. Always listen. Always be the one to bring peace. She never let their bickering get to her. She would calm them, remind them not to fight, not to lose themselves in pride. “He’s your brother. Just let it go,” she’d say. Or, “You guys are all you’ve got. You can’t afford to fall apart.”Sometimes she even joked, “Am I your mother now?” And they’d laugh, awkwardly but fondly. So when she heard them fussing again earlier, she hadn’t taken it seriously. She simply finished tidying up, then reached for her pillow. The hallway was quiet. Dark. Only a faint glow from the night bulbs guided her s

Andrea tossed on the bed, her eyes wide open, staring at the shadowed ceiling of her room. The night outside was eerily silent, but her mind was loud — too loud to let her rest. After everything Rock had told her, everything she had seen in his eyes, the hidden weight behind his smile… she felt sick with confusion. She hadn’t spoken to anyone since they got back. Not even Jaxon. Especially not Jaxon. She couldn’t risk slipping, not now. He was still in danger, and she didn’t know how to protect him — or protect herself. The moment she stepped inside the house, Andrea had shut her door, locked it, and collapsed onto her bed, burying her face in the pillow to keep from screaming. What was she supposed to do?No answers came. Then her heart clenched at the only name she could think of in the moment. Her father. With trembling fingers, she picked up her phone and dialed the number she had memorized since childhood — even though it had been months since they spoke.“Hello?” his deep voice

Andrea was determined. The kind of fiery, vengeful determination that burned in her bones. Her jaw clenched with resolve as she shoved open the restroom door, her footsteps echoing across the empty tiled floor. She was not going to let him go scot-free this time — not after everything. Not after the lies. Not after the blood. Not after Jaxon. She changed quickly, stuffing her usual clothes deep into her bag and zipping it shut. The hoodie she wore wasn’t his — not Jaxon’s. That would have been too sentimental, too painful. No, this one was hers. Black, oversized, and nondescript. She dragged the cap low over her eyes, lips set in a thin line. Her entire body felt tight with rage and betrayal. She couldn’t afford another mistake. When she stepped outside, her breath hitched. There he was. Mr. Hoodie himself — Rock. His eyes widened when he saw her. For a split second, something flickered in them — fear? No. Surprise. Maybe both. Andrea saw it clearly. He hadn’t expected her to show up

Jaxon twisted restlessly, his body writhing beneath the warm sheets. Sweat glistened on his forehead, and his lips parted to whisper incoherently, head turning sharply side to side in panic. His chest rose and fell in quick, shallow breaths. Andrea sat beside him, brushing his damp hair away from his temple. Her heart clenched with worry.“Jaxon,” she whispered, holding his hand tightly. “I’m here, okay? I’m not leaving your side.”His hand jerked weakly in hers, and he muttered again, “The moon… the moon is square…”Andrea froze, remembering exactly what he had told her before. When the moon looked square in his dreams, it meant he was trapped in a nightmare. A deep, dark one he couldn’t wake from. She cupped his face gently. “Jaxon, it’s all a dream,” she murmured softly. “You have to wake up. You’re safe now.”In his unconscious mind, Jaxon was far from safety. He drifted through fragments of memory—the way Andrea laughed when she cooked, the way her brows furrowed when she was pre

The man in the hood burst into the hidden chamber behind the old bookcase—an office so secret only two people knew it existed. The scent of old cigars and pinewood filled the narrow space as he stumbled forward, blood dripping from his trembling hands, staining the floor beneath him.He dropped to his knees, panting, his voice breathless. “I’m sorry it took me this long. But I did it—I made sure the knife went in deep. He won’t survive. I’m sure of it.”The figure seated in the high-back leather chair didn’t turn immediately. He remained silent, the dim light catching the smoke from his cigarette as he took one last drag. Then, slowly, the old man twisted around, his grizzled face revealing neither shock nor satisfaction—just a cold, calculating calm.“You used the right knife?” he asked, voice rough like sandpaper.“Yes,” the man in the hood nodded eagerly. “I laced the blade with wolfsbane and mistletoe. Even if he was Alpha, it won’t save him now.”A small, crooked smile curled on

Andrea couldn’t stop thinking about it.What if he already knew? The thought looped in her head like a broken record: Did he know I’m Elena? Did he already realize I’m the same woman he slept with years ago? The one he abandoned? The one who gave birth to his children alone? Did he know I’m his mate? Her chest tightened painfully. She looked over at the unconscious body of Jaxon, sprawled out on the couch with faint traces of dried blood on his shirt. The same pendant lay around his neck — the key-shaped one she recognized from years ago. Her fingers trembled as she grazed it, as though touching a memory that had refused to stay buried. She should’ve stabbed him.For leaving her. For vanishing without a word after that night. For the pain he’d caused. For pushing her to face labor alone. For living while her heart had been bleeding for years. Her hand hovered near the kitchen knife. She wanted to do it — to let him feel a fraction of the agony he left her to carry. But she didn’t. Ins
