Chapter 7. Is That My Child?

While finishing her work since lunch, Karina's mind kept wandering here and there. The black-haired woman kept thinking about what Viggo said during lunch, especially since he knew Karina was pregnant and even Sophia didn't know about it.

Curious about her own speculation, Karina looked at Sophia, who was busy with her computer in front of her, and furrowed her eyebrows. Feeling watched by Karina, Sophia finally stopped and turned her gaze to Karina.

"Is there something on my face?" Sophia asked.

Karina grimaced while thinking, "Do pregnant women always experience sudden nausea?" Karina asked.

Sophia was startled by Karina's question, "I don't know, because I've never been pregnant. But some of my friends are like that. At first, they really liked the food, but when they were pregnant, they didn't like it anymore. Why? Are you pregnant?" Sophia asked in a mocking tone, as if it was very unlikely for Karina, who was known for being single for a long time, to be pregnant.

"Nope. I'm just asking." Karina replied, then turned back to her computer and continued her work.

Sophia glanced at her watch, then quickly packed up all her belongings into her bag, along with a few other items piled on her desk. Finally, Sophia turned off her computer that she had been using all day.

"I'm leaving early, Karina. I'll continue my work tomorrow." Sophia said as she put her bag on her shoulder and got up from her desk.

Karina looked at the clock in the bottom right corner of her computer, it was already 5 pm and it was reasonable for Sophia to leave since she was used to leaving when the workday ended.

"Sure, take care." Karina said.

Sophia nodded her head, then crossed Karina's desk while waving her hand. Some other employees started leaving one by one until finally, only Karina was left alone in the room.

At exactly 6 pm, Karina finally finished her work so that she could continue with other work tomorrow. Karina then prepared to leave after turning off her computer, then glanced at Viggo's workspace which was still closed.

"I don't need to say goodbye to him, do I? He probably doesn't care that much." Karina muttered and finally left her desk and immediately left the office.

Karina walked to the nearest bus stop to catch a bus that would take her to her residential area. At the bus stop, she was not alone as there were quite a few Deverell Apparel employees who had just finished work and were waiting for the bus at the same stop as Karina.

A silver bus finally arrived and stopped in front of the stop. However, due to the crowd of other workers rushing to get on, Karina gave in and decided to wait for the next bus. The atmosphere at the stop became quiet, and as the next bus would arrive in 6 minutes, Karina decided to sit in an available empty seat. She noticed the words written on the seat she sat on: "Priority seat for pregnant women."

Six minutes later, the silver bus passed again, but this time it looked more crowded, and there were only a few empty seats visible from the window. Karina, who had initially prepared to board the bus, immediately gave up and sat back down. She then noticed her black high-heeled shoes were slightly dirty and began cleaning them.

As Karina was cleaning her shoes, she heard the sound of a car engine stopping right in front of her. However, she knew it wasn't the sound of the bus she usually took. A black 911 Targa 4S car with the roof open stopped in front of Karina. She blinked when she realized that the driver was Viggo, her new manager.

"Let me give you a ride home." Viggo said.

Karina shook her head, "No need, sir. I'll just take the bus."

From Viggo's facial expression, he didn't show any sign of wanting to leave after being rejected by Karina. Instead, he waited there and turned his face away from Karina.

Karina snorted in frustration. If Viggo stayed there, the bus would be reluctant to stop where she was sitting. Finally, Karina got up and approached Viggo's car.

"I will take you home safely. Don't worry, I won't kidnap you," said Viggo.

After hearing Viggo's words, Karina decided to go home with him. She quickly got in and adjusted her black short skirt.

Viggo glanced at Karina's skirt and made her cover her knees with the bag she was carrying.

After making sure Karina had her seatbelt on, Viggo stepped on the gas and focused on driving.

Karina had no intention of starting a conversation because she felt she barely knew Viggo and wasn't close to him. But strangely, Viggo kept getting closer to her and seemed to show interest in her.

"Do you feel comfortable wearing a short skirt like that when you're pregnant?" Viggo suddenly asked.

Karina immediately turned her gaze and looked at the skirt she was wearing. "I'm used to wearing skirts like this when I'm working." she replied.

Viggo fell silent and didn't respond to Karina's answer. Finally, Karina asked the man with hazel eyes again.

"Do you feel uncomfortable with my appearance? If so, there's no need to approach me again. Because I won't change my appearance for you," replied Karina.

Viggo smiled and at the red light, he turned his gaze to Karina while inhaling the sweet aroma of Karina's body that was so strong in his sense of smell.

"I didn't say that I don't like it, Miss Karina. I was just asking if you feel comfortable like that while you're pregnant, now?" Viggo said.

The traffic light turned green again and Viggo continued his journey.

Karina just sighed in annoyance and showed Viggo the direction he needed to go to get to her house. Karina no longer replied to Viggo's words, as she thought she needed to part ways with Viggo now and quickly go home without talking to him anymore.

Until finally, Viggo's 911 Targa 4S car stopped right in front of a house with light brown paint that was none other than Karina and Selena's home.

Before getting out, Karina glanced at Viggo. The woman noticed Viggo's facial features that she couldn't deny were very handsome to her. Even looking at his sharp gaze, Karina felt like she would melt instantly. But Karina still stuck to her stance, she didn't want to deal with her new manager.

"Thank you for the ride. Next time, there's no need to take me again." Karina said as she was about to get out of the car.

But quickly, Viggo held Karina's arm and made her look back at him. Karina's eyes briefly glanced at the Ralex watch worn by Viggo and looked familiar to her.

"Karina Magnolia." Viggo called out with his bass voice, making Karina's hairs stand on end all over her body.

"Is that my child?" Viggo continued while glancing at Karina's still-flat stomach
