Chapter 6. The Wristwatch

It had been more than 3 hours since the belongings of the new General Division Manager were moved, but the manager himself had yet to show up. Sophia occasionally glanced towards the room of the manager, which was now covered with black curtains.

"I wonder when the new manager will arrive," muttered Sophia as she twirled the pen between her index and middle fingers.

"I don't know. It has been 3 hours, but the new manager hasn't shown up yet," replied Karina, her eyes still focused on the computer in front of her.

Just as they were discussing, the door to the General Division room suddenly opened. A man in a dark blue suit, with dark brown hair and a firm jaw, entered the room.

Sophia immediately nudged Karina a few times until Karina turned to look at her.

"What's going on?" Karina asked.

Sophia pointed with her chin towards another direction. Understanding, Karina turned her gaze and looked in the direction indicated.

"Good afternoon, everyone. I apologize for being late. I had to attend a meeting with the company's leaders before coming here. My name is Viggo Conri, and I will be the new Manager of the General Division," Viggo said in his deep bass voice.

The female employees, including Sophia, were stunned at the sight of him. His handsome facial features and muscular body made everyone who saw him fall in love.

After introducing himself, Viggo looked at all of his employees and tried to remember their faces. His gaze stopped at Karina, who was also looking at him, and they exchanged looks for a long time until Karina looked away.

"Please continue your work," Viggo said before walking into his room.

The employees started talking about the new, handsome manager.

"Hey! I didn't expect Mr. Viggo to be that handsome!" whispered Sophia, who was also excited about Viggo's arrival.

"Well, it's understandable. He's only 34 years old, so he's in the prime of his life. It seems he's not married or engaged yet because I didn't see a wedding ring on his left ring finger," Karina replied while continuing her work.

Sophia was thrilled to hear Karina's words. "I think I'll take back what I said about asking you to approach Mr. Viggo. Because I think I'm also falling in love with his handsomeness! His aura is really different, like someone with strong dominance," Sophia said.

Karina just shook her head and sighed before continuing her work before lunchtime.

"Karina, want to have lunch with me?" asked Sophia, who had already stood up from her chair.

"You go ahead, I want to finish this first," replied Karina.

"Okay, see you later then." Sophia responded before leaving Karina with her other colleagues from the same division.

Karina continued working as fast as she could until she finished the first draft of the report. She pressed the enter key with enthusiasm, producing a loud sound.

"Finally done!" Karina exclaimed, stretching her arms up in the air.

She looked around the General Division office but found that she was the only one left there. Karina then looked towards Viggo's closed office door.

"Doesn't the new manager have lunch?" Karina muttered, but she didn't care too much. She had heard from the previous assistant manager that Viggo was a workaholic, so she wasn't concerned whether he had had lunch or not.

Karina left the office and went to the office cafeteria located on the ground floor. She stood in line alone and sat alone in the corner to eat her food while watching cartoons on her phone.

Before eating her food, Karina sniffed the aroma of the dish and put it back down. "Okay, safe. I don't think I'll get nauseous eating this." Karina said.

Ever since she got pregnant, Karina had become easily nauseous with the food in front of her. She had even had trouble eating her favorite foods and preferred meat over vegetables.

As Karina ate, she didn't realize that Viggo had just entered the cafeteria and was also getting his lunch. Viggo saw several empty chairs but his gaze was drawn to Karina, who was enjoying her meal in the corner of the room without any disturbance from anyone.

Viggo brought his food over to Karina and sat directly in front of her. Karina was startled when she realized someone was sitting in front of her. What was even more surprising was that the man sitting in front of her was Viggo, the new manager in her division.

"Mr. Viggo?!" exclaimed Karina.

"Just eat your food, don't mind me." Viggo replied, then began to eat his meal.

Karina nodded and went back to eating her lunch. Occasionally, she glanced over at Viggo, who was enjoying his steak in front of him. However, his potatoes were untouched.

"You're not eating your potatoes, Sir?" Karina asked, feeling bothered by the leftover potatoes on Viggo's plate.

"I'm not a big fan of vegetables, including potatoes," replied Viggo.

"May I have them?" Karina asked.

Viggo immediately pushed his plate towards Karina and said, "Take them."

Karina then picked up some potatoes using her fork and began to eat them. Suddenly, she felt nauseous and quickly covered her mouth with her hand.

"Sorry." Karina apologized to Viggo.

Viggo looked at Karina in surprise. "Are you okay?" he asked.

"I don't know, Sir. I suddenly felt nauseous even though I was fine eating my food earlier," Karina answered, then drank her mineral water to neutralize the nausea in her stomach.

"Are you pregnant?" Viggo asked when he sensed something strange about Karina's body.

As an Alpha who was unknown to anyone, Viggo had a very strong instinct. Even just a person's feeling, Viggo could feel it. Just like what had just happened to Karina. Viggo could sense that there was a new life that had just emerged in Karina's stomach.

Hearing Viggo's question, Karina immediately held her stomach and was surprised. "How do you know, Sir?" Karina asked.

"You feel nauseous after eating something that you usually eat. What else could it be other than pregnancy? Hormones in pregnant women often change." Viggo answered, then glanced at Karina's hand that was still holding her stomach.

Karina scratched her head and looked at the watch that Viggo was wearing. It was a silver Ralex watch that looked familiar to her.

Suddenly, Karina remembered something. The night she decided to end her virginity and sleep with a stranger she met at a bar. Karina couldn't clearly remember the man's face due to her drunken state and the dimly lit hotel room. But upon seeing Viggo's watch, Karina's body tensed up. She remembered the watch clearly, then Karina recalled the voice she heard that night.

A voice with a deep bass tone that was so piercing to her heart. Even his touch, Karina could still feel it until now, as if the man deliberately made Karina enjoy every moment with him so that she wouldn't forget him.

"Excuse me, Sir." Karina said, then got up from her seat when she felt her mind getting confused upon seeing the watch and remembering the voice from that night.

Viggo tried to stop Karina from leaving but eventually let her go. Unfortunately, it wasn't just Karina who was trying to remember that night. Viggo, since his arrival, immediately smelled Karina's sweet body scent from where he stood. Viggo remembered the sweet body scent of the woman he met at the bar, and it was the same as Karina's scent.

"Is it her?" Viggo murmured, watching Karina leave him.
