Chapter 1

>>>Anita's pov<<<

I Anita, a descendant of the Blood Fang wolves, grappled with the knowledge that my ancestral predecessors were notorious for destruction and the slaughtering of innocent packs. This was a shameful legacy that would always be associated with my bloodline. Nevertheless, I was determined not to give in to the same curse that had plagued my predecessors. I was a strong and brave woman who had worked tirelessly to overcome the stigma of her heritage.

Unfortunately, the villagers didn't see me that way. They cursed Natalie, the woman who had taken me in, for harboring a cursed person in her home. They insulted her and spat at her front door, as if she were somehow responsible for my existence. I tried to ignore them, but their taunts and jeers followed me everywhere I went.

As I walked home from the market, I noticed a group of villagers whispering and pointing in my direction. Sensing that something was off, I quickened my pace, but the group followed me closely. One of them called out my name “Hey, Anita!”

“We've got a bone to pick with you!” My heart raced as I turned to face them, trying my best to stay calm.

“What do you want?” I tried to keep my voice steady.

“We know what you are” another villager said, stepping forward. “We know what your ancestors did. And we don't want your kind around here” I felt a cold sweat break out on my forehead. I had never been confronted like this before. "Please, I'm just trying to live my life. I'm not like them."

"That's what they all say," the first villager sneered. "But we know the truth. You're a monster, just like the rest of them."

"I have to get away," I thought to myself. Just as I turned to run, they grabbed hold of me, pulling me back.

"Let go of me!" I screamed, desperate to break free.

Despite my efforts, they continued to hold me down, their grip tightening on my arms. Panic began to rise within me as I realized I was completely at their mercy.

That's when something unexpected happened. Nathan, the man who had been sheltering me in his home for years, appeared out of nowhere. He was strong and fearless, and his presence scared the villagers away. He made it clear that if they ever hurt me again, he would take matters into his own hands and kill his own kind. The bullies quickly scattered, having been given a stern warning.

>>>Nathan's pov<<<

"I couldn't believe what had just happened," I said. "The bullies had rough-handled Anita just because she was a Blood Fang wolf. I knew the villagers weren't fond of our kind, but I never thought they would resort to physical violence."

I rushed towards her and held her close, shielding her from their attacks. They eventually ran away, leaving us alone in the middle of the woods.

Anita was panting and her clothes were torn and tattered. I quickly removed my jacket and covered her nakedness, trying my best to preserve her dignity. She was shivering from both the cold night air and the trauma of the attack. I knew I had to take her back home to safety.

As they walked towards Anita's house, I couldn't help but feel angry at the villagers for their senseless violence. Anita was a kind and gentle soul who didn't deserve to be treated like an outcast. I wished I could change their minds, make them see that we were not monsters.

When they arrived at her room's doorstep, I turned to bid her goodnight. But something caught my eye - a tear running down her cheek.

"Anita, are you okay?" I asked, concerned.

She shook her head, her eyes brimming with tears. "Nathan, I can't take this anymore," she said, her voice breaking. "I'm tired of being treated like a pariah, like I'm not even a wolf. Why do they hate me so much?"

"Could there be a different gravity behind this hatred?" Anita sobbed for a minute as she continued, "I've tried my best to prove my innocence, but they even went as far as hating their own kind because he is honoring me in his house. Why me?"

I didn't know what to say. I too had asked myself the same question many times before. It was a bitter reality we had to face every day. But seeing Anita like this, so vulnerable and broken, made my heart ache.

I took her hand and squeezed it gently. "I don't know why they hate us, Anita," I said softly. "But I promise you, I will always be here for you. You're not alone."

She looked up at me, her eyes searching mine. Then, without warning, she threw her arms around my neck and hugged me tightly. I could feel her tears soaking his shirt, but I didn't care. All I cared about was being there for her, for as long as she needed me.

I carried Anita inside her room and gently laid her down on the bed. I was worried about her, knowing that the attack had taken a toll on her both physically and emotionally. As I was about to leave, Anita softly held my fingertips and pleaded with me to stay by her side.

"Please, don't leave me alone tonight. I'm feeling so weak and vulnerable, and I need someone to hold me," Anita said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I could see the fear and pain in her eyes and knew that I couldn't simply walk away. I sat down on the edge of the bed and took her hand in mine, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Of course, Anita," I said softly. "I'll stay here with you. I won't leave you alone."

Anita smiled weakly, grateful for my presence. I lay down beside her, careful not to disturb her fragile state. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close to my chest.

As we lay there together, I could feel Anita's body trembling. I knew that she needed comfort, and I did my best to provide it. I stroked her hair and whispered soothing words, telling her that everything would be alright.
