Chapter 35 - Back home

Alec POV

I’ve been sitting in the same place, nurturing a glass of whiskey in my hand for the past hour, Aimee is not home yet, and I can’t believe this is happening to us. What have I done? I pass my hands through my hair, shaking my head. I close my eyes, resting them back on the sofa. I feel the tears threatening to spill, and then the door opens. I stand up immediately. Aimee walks into the house, and she walks past me without even looking me in the eye. I follow her like a lost puppy into the bedroom. She closes herself in the bathroom, and I sit on the edge of the bed.

It feels like it’s been forever when she comes out of the bathroom, freshly showered with a towel wrapped around her body and another one on her head, keeping her hair inside. She walks past me and enters the walk-in closet, and I follow her. She grabs her clothes, leggings and a top, her underwear, and I am unable to speak. I need to say something. I need her to listen to me.

“Aimee”, I let out, and she shake
