It’s been a few minutes since Theo went in for a shower. I’m staying in the living room waiting for him to be done. I plan to take a shower after him, but I don’t have any clothes. “Everything is ready. You can go in, Luna,” Liam says, walking out of the dungeons. He just finished chaining Theo to prevent him from going on a killing spree. All day, I’ve been praying his wolf won’t lose control and kill anyone during the full moon. “Thank you, Liam,” I say before entering the dungeons. Entering, I hear Theo struggling with the chains. His wolf must be fighting him to shift. I walk closer, and see Theo struggling to stop the shift. His eyes keep changing from their original color to golden. The following day, stepping out of my room, I find Theo standing in front of my door. “Theo ,” I say, a little surprised to see him. “Come with me,” he says and walks down the stairs. I follow him to the living room, and he doesn’t speak until I sit down. “I’ve realized that finding your Mom by yourself is important to you. I’ve decided to let you continue with your search on one condition,” he says, and for the first time since I met my mate, I smile at him. “What’s your condition?” “I must come with you.” “You want to come with me? Why?” I ask, surprised. “It's the only way I can ensure your safety and once we’ve found her I can make sure you return with me.” This is what the girls and I were talking about yesterday. THEODORE Theodore walked inside the cabin, his mate in his arms. He could see the bruises all over her body from his harsh training. He didn’t mean to hurt her, but the training was necessary for her to be strong when they enter vampire territory. He couldn’t risk what happened the last time she encountered a vampire. His wolf would kill him if he allowed her to be harmed again. Theodore gently places Anastasia on her bed and walks to her bathroom, filling the bathtub with warm water. She must be exhausted, but she needs a good bath and a good sleep. Once Theodore is done filling the bathtub with water and scented oils, he walks back to her. “Anastasia ,” Theodore calls her name softly, trying to wake her up. “Explain,” I say when we’re all seated. “As I said, I’m a witch, and I’m here to help you enter vampire territory,” Ekaterina says. “I got that part, but I don't understand why you would help us. If anything, you shouldn’t want to help the werewolf King's mate find her mother.” “I know a normal witch won't, but I’m not just any witch. The following morning, I woke up more tired than usual. I also feel very cold. Ekaterina made the cave warm last night with her fire, so I shouldn’t be feeling cold. I try to stand up but find it challenging. Water drips from my forehead and lands on my hand. I look up to see if the cave has a hole and water is leaking through, but it doesn’t. Bringing my eyes back down, I notice my hands are wet and not only my hands my neck and face. Why am I sweating? I’m not hot. I’m cold. I try to lift myself off the ground, but I can’t. “Anastasia , what’s wrong?” Theo asks, rushing to my side. He must have noticed me struggling to get up. “I don’t know,” I whisper. My throat feels sore, and it hurts to speak. What’s going on? I look Theo in the eyes, pleading with him to help me. I’m scared. Theo and I spend the day at the pond. He didn’t go back in water after almost marking me, though. I want to ask Ekaterina why she stopped him, but I think she’s avoiding me. “I think I’m feeling better now. Please, can you turn away?” When he turns away, I step out. Even though we were half-naked under the water a few hours ago, I’m still not comfortable being seen only in my underwear. My throat doesn’t feel sore anymore, and it doesn’t hurt to talk.
