She finally stood up and they went to the kitchen, her father walking ahead. She checked the rice cooker to see if there was rice, and fortunately, Billy already cooked rice. She then found her way to the refrigerator and opened it. It was full. There were beef slices, pork slices, limbs of chicken, vegetables, eggs, then fruits. That’s where she remembered something.
“You know how to cook, why didn’t you cook yourself food earlier?” she asked, in a loud tone, just so he couldn’t hear her as he was in the living room. The speakers of the television booming so sudden.
“I don’t know… maybe I just missed the way you cook?”
She scoffed then smiled. “As if,” she replied mockingly.
“No, Val, I really do.” Based on the noise lowering down, he must have minimized the volume.
“I just couldn’t stop wondering what the hospital did to you all these days, dad.” She grabbed the four eggs from in the door of the refrigerator and grabbed seasoning.
“W
BOOM.
For three days, her life had become oddly quiet. She hadn’t seen news of either her or William in the television. She hadn’t received any more mails but the only one where it’s stated he didn’t want to divorce her. Once again, he had left her confused and seeking for answers.Every time she’d go out to shop for groceries, she’d always get to be asked why she weren’t shopping with William. She had one valid excuse, however – he was at work. Speaking of her husband… she missed him. She missed the way he laughed, the way he uninvitedly just snake his arm around her waist then pull her closer, the way his breathtaking eyes would drag and drown her. She missed every bit of him and she hated the feeling.Valentine hated the feeling of wanting him again. It was only a month ago when they met after so many years, but it felt like yesterday. A lot happened within a month; dramatic events happened within a month.
“Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Valentine asked as she watched the two sit down on the couch. “I thought I wanted to pay the two of you a visit.” “Vaughn, why–,” her words were cut off as Vaughn spoke. “Dad, you’ve changed. We even look exactly the same!” he exclaimed, beaming. Valentine rolled her eyes as the two chatted enthusiastically and cheerfully, considering that they haven’t seen each other for years. She decided to not take part in their conversation as she turned on her heel, wanting to head back to the kitchen. “Technically, dad, I came here to talk to Val about something.” This brought her to stop in her tracks and she faced him. “What?” she asked, wanting to sound aloof. In fact, she really was interested. The curiosity got the better of her once again. “Dad, I want to talk with her privately.” Billy took a minute. He was hesitating but sighed afterwards, then agreed. He left the roo
Valentine was all dolled up. She had her eyelashes pushed upwards and thickened with mascara, and her lips tinted red with lip tint; both products were given by William when they went shopping for their first date. She made her wavy jet-black hair tied up in a tight high-pony tail, swaying gracefully whenever she moved. She paired the black fitting dress with the same cropped black blazer with an open front. But this time, she bought herself a cotton-made black knee-high boots with three-inched heels. Considering that her dress only reached down to her mid-thigh, she thought it was great to match the both of them. And indeed, she looked ravishing. It wasn’t that bad on spending her savings for boots — which she’ll only be using sometimes, only on special occasions. Valentine felt even confident than ever. She brought her right hand up, where both the rings were sitting still on her fingers. Like Vaughn said, dress up like an unmarried woman. She sighed then closed he
It really was… for her. Different colors of lights danced across the room, blinking, and changing colors momentarily. The club was monstrous, with all the bodies bumping and rubbing against each other. The thought of them exchanging sweat made her shrug her shoulders and shiver. She recalled the direction her brother had told her earlier. She went to the farthest part, away from the crowd. There might be no crowd dancing in the part of the club where she’s at but it was filled with couples kissing their tongues out. She gagged as she proceeded on her way to the bar. Like what Vaughn had stated: ‘a man in a red suit will be by the bar, waiting for you, his name is Noah. When you approach him, say these words… for him to recognize you’. She sighed as she remembered what the words were. Vaughn said so himself that it was from a really famous movie. She pulled herself to the vacant bar stool beside Noah’s, then she cleared her throat, “Thanos got ambushed and mur
Valentine’s mouth turned to a big ‘O’ shape as her eyes widened. Her vision was annoyingly getting blurry but she could still make out William’s facial features. He was shocked, and she giggled at his face.“Hi William!” she chirped, and as she mentioned his name, her pitch gotten higher.“Don’t ‘Hi William’ me, Valentine, who is that man you’re with?”“OH!” Valentine realized that she hadn’t introduced her date yet. She stood by William’s side, her arm attempting to reach his shoulder for her to place her elbow but he was too tall. “Uh… can you stoop down a little?”Obediently, William bended his knees and sighed, “who is he, Valentine?”She successfully placed her elbow on his shoulder and answered proudly, “he’s my date.” She smiled, reaching from ear to ear. Her eyes closed as she did. “Noah, mee
“Are you serious, dude?” Samuel was taken aback. He laughed nervously. “Nah, I’m just kidding… really. Don’t worry, I don’t want anything in return. It’s nice helping a man out, especially when his wife is getting all drunk and tipsy with another man.”Valentine kept silent all the time, feeling guilty. Her eyelids were becoming heavy and she wanted to sleep. Her head was resting on his side chest. She felt William move and watch him take out money from his pockets then hand it over to both of the bouncers. They refused but he insisted. Not too long, he thanked them and brought Valentine to the front seat of his car. He leaned over to her and fastened her seatbelt tightly for security. As soon as William got inside and turned on the engine of his car, she asked, “where are we going?”“Let’s just go to my house.”She didn’t reply anymore. Instead, she closed h
The day after, she woke up in his bed. She groaned distressingly as pain shot across her head, as if she was hit by Cupid’s deadly arrow. Valentine squinted her eyes open as she tried to see which room she was in. It was William’s. She whipped her head to the left and saw his face up close. He was snoring softly. Her eyes landed upon his naked torso. William’s chest heaved up and down as he breathed. His blanket only covered half of his upper body, causing Valentine’s curiosity to itch. She hooked the edge of the blanket with her index finger to pull it slightly wide and peeked. Her eyes enlarged in shock. Quickly, she withdrew her hand and tossed her body to the other direction. Still, she needed confirmation. Valentine brought her hand to her blanket and pulled it wide, exposing her breasts. Yes, they did that last night. “But… how?” She did her best to squeeze her mind into recalling what had happened last night. Went to the club, met Noah, drank
“Sorry…”“Don’t worry.” He handed over the box to her and she received it.“Can you get out of the room while I change?”Unexpectedly, he smirked. “I could watch you change.”“William!” She said through gritted teeth, trying to stifle her laugh. “You pervert! Get out, please! Or else I won’t wear it for you.”“All right.” He drew his head back and started to walk away. William closed the door from behind then shouted, “if it’ll take you too long, I swear, Valentine, I’m going to kick the door down.”She rolled her eyes in response. She knew he wouldn’t kick it down. Valentine placed the blanket back on the bed then opened the box. After minutes of debating whether she’d wear the lingerie or not, she ended up wearing it due to her curiosity of how would she look like in it. It was a two-piece set. T
