Evelyn had brought an entire meal.

She had also brought, as promised, paperwork. She set both on the kitchen island and looked at them with the satisfaction of a woman who had accomplished multiple things in one trip.

"The food is from the Italian place on Mercer," she said. "The paperwork is from my lawyer. They are both important. The food first."

Lennon sat on one of the island stools and looked at the folder beside the pasta.
