Avo's words hit me hard!

It was not just what he had said out loud but also what he had left unsaid. The weight of those unspoken words was heavier than the words that painted a picture of my hypocrisy.

'Excuses and more fucking excuses'. My beast sneered at me, wording what Avo had left unsaid.

The myriad of reasons that I had been giving myself, her, and the world for not being with her was more of a facade. Actually, I was cringing behind a pile of excuses. Afraid.

That was right; I was afraid.

I was FUCKING terrified.

Terrified of having a shot at true happiness. Deep down, I knew it was not what I deserved—an abomination like me.

Of course, her witchy ancestry irked me; there were no two ways about it. But I too did not give her or us a chance and instead latched onto those witchy genes, telling myself that I could not be with a witch.

Just like I doubted her every step of the way when she came here. I doubted every action and every intention.
