38. Handcuffs
The handcuffs fell to the bed an Finn let out a small sigh of relief. He felt Anders pick up his wrists and swear at the sores that had festered while Caleb forced Finn to wear them while in his hospital bed.
"Finn, I am sorry for all of this but I have been working behind the scenes with Drake and Caleb has been sent home." He grinned at he saw Finn's eyes grow large with that announcement.
"Yes, Caleb was sent home to Madison and will face an internal investigation. We also brought Detective Drake and an FBI Angent Mia in to review your case and find the corruption and where this all leads to."
Finn still couldn't talk but he gave Anders a thumbs up.
Anders laughed at his feable attempt to communicate but finally placed a hand on his shoulder and said, "Listen, I need to head back into the station, but Lili is on her way and she is no longer restricted to just one hour a day."

He felt relief coursing throughout his entire body as he walked onto their front porch. Every step was a struggle, just to put one foot in front of the other. Each step forward was pure agony but it was a victory over his acusers. He managed to unlock the front door with his hands that didn't want to function, but he won the fight and opened the door. Home! What a wonderful feeling after being in the hospital. All of the lights were off and he tried to be so quiet so that he didn't wake Lili. Walking was still very painful and Finn needed to avoid the stairs for another few weeks, but he hobbled home, this time in daylight with Lili, Anders, Stacey, Russel and Reese surrounding him to welcome him home. The doctors removed the wiring on his jaw, but he still had restricted movement and it hurt like hell to talk. Poor Lili when he tried to talk for the first time in weeks, she wasn't sure if she should laugh or cry at the little squeak that managed to escape from his mouth. It was pure embarassment! Lili gave in to the feeling floating around in her brain; misery, betrayal, hatred and so much more. Mostly, she gave into grief. Grief for the loss of her father and her brother. Grief for the love of a family so lost in power and money. She wondered who she was but then she saw Finn, the man she loved when he was just a simple ranch hand. The man she loved and they needed to set a course to follow for themselves. The future was theirs - a blank canvas. She cried! She swore! She yelled! And through it all, Finn just held her and comforted her with his words and actions. They just might make it through and find their own way. Finn heard the incessant knocking at the front door and he hobbled along to answer it. Lili was out in town so he was alone. He froze when he saw Billy's truck sitting out front and he stayed where he was and he pulled out his cell phone and called Drake. "Billy is on my front porch. Why the hell is he here?" Every day Finn grew stronger but his demenor changed towards Lili and everyone around him. He was short with his words and he became very withdrawn.
