There are two ways to not make it out alive of wolfbane academy. First: Cross the wolfbane brothers. And the second?
It’s the exact same thing but in red, bloody ink.
*******
“Run, Ben! The alpha boys are unto you.”
My breath hitched in my throat when I heard that voice. My lungs tightened, a strange dryness overcoming my throat as I turned.
My heart pounded a heavy rhyme in my chest, one that thawed at every bit of hope I had that today was going to be different.
It wouldn't.
The lights in the hallway flickered like they usually did. On. Off. And wait— off again. The smell of burnt meat, cheap soaps and dried blood crawled up my nostrils before I took in their scent.
They're already here.
I glanced around, searching for a glimpse of my boyfriend, Nick but he was nowhere in sight. None of the students were in sight. They'd all run off— even Nick. He promised to stay by my side when next they came but for some reason, he's nowhere to be seen.
I couldn't really blame him. He was barely holding on to his role in their friend group as it was. Crossing the alpha triplets could have him kicked out of the school’s hockey team.
And besides, I was theirs.
Their house pet.
In an academy like wolfbane, hierarchy ruled. The drill was clear. Alphas were the rulers. They called the shots. Weak omegas like myself were often doted on. Every omega in the pack had a master.
I had three.
Ryker. Knoxx. Enzo.
The Alpha triplets were everyone’s nightmare. Unlike the other low ranked omega house pets who weren't owned by them, I couldn't run. Running only made it worse.
I clutched my textbooks tightly, taking in deep breaths as I listened closely to the sound of their footsteps. Every muscle in me purred and urged me to move, to scurry like every other person in the hallway but I didn't. I knew better than that.
Running only made my punishments worse.
Over my first three moon seasons at the Wolfbane household, I'd learned one thing and that was to never cross the Alpha Triplets. They were the rulers of the academy. Tall, strong and excruciatingly handsome. Crossing them would only set the stage for even more punishment. My stomach twisted into tight knots when I caught a glimpse of all three of them.
My worst nightmares. A.K.A My masters.
Cold sweats clung to my forehead as they inched closer. “W-what do you..”
My lips quivered as they all paused in their tracks, their dark blue eyes scanning and scrutinizing my deep hazel ones. Enzo, the first brother, leaned close. “What are you doing here, house pet!”
I opened my lips to speak but nothing came.
“I-i—”
I stuttered.
Before I could muster up the right words to use, the second brother, Ryker, beamed, still in his hockey jersey. “Why haven't you joined all the others for the preparations for our coming of age ceremony?”
His pupils dilated and I immediately dropped to my knees. The cold tiled floors of the hallway braced my kneecaps. I felt the weight of the first triplet, Enzo’s gaze pressing against my chest. He stood proudly in front of me, 6 inch something in a partly unbuttoned shirt, stone cold features and eyes that could make anyone drop to their knees.
I was a living example.
I opened my lips to speak, “I apologize for not coming earlier. I had—”
Before I finished, I heard a voice, a different one. It was dark. Way darker than Enzo’s. “How dare you go against our words? It seems it's been a long time since we punished you. What could be more important than our orders?”
I was supposed to run the errands for their coming of age ceremony alongside the maids at their mansion. I planned on doing so but when Professor Baldwin declared a last minute test on transformation theory analysis, I had no choice but to stay. I’d missed quite a number of tests and if I missed the test, I'd have to bid my admission goodbye.
Choosing the test over attending the triplet Alphas was one of the hardest decisions I've made all term. And now, I had to face them. All three of them. The second triplet, Ryker, who unlike Enzo had short dark hair, blue eyes and a sharp suit that clung to his muscles, stepped towards me. He gripped my neck, his tattooed hands tightening its grip on my neck.
He slammed me against the nearby wall. I heard my bones crack as fear burrowed its way deep into my chest. My breath quivered. His heated ones flamed my face.
“How dare you, house pet? You know the house laws. I hope you do know that as your masters we can punish you however we want right?”
With every word he said, his grip on my neck tightened. I quivered helplessly in his hold, my heart racing heavily in my chest.
Just as I was about to pass out, I heard the animated sound of giggles in the air. Knoxx’s grip on my neck loosened and I crashed down to the floor. I blinked my gaze in the direction of Rejoice, the school belle.
Their alleged girlfriend.
I scanned the scene slowly, noticing the gleam of disgust in their eyes. There were rumours surrounding the pack about how her father, a pack elder, had used his connection to make her the she-wolf they picked tonight.
“I’ve missed you all.”
Her voice beamed. “You all look so so sexy. I can't wait to see the look in the eyes of everyone when you pick me as your mate.”
She walked towards where I was and paused to glare right down at me before gripping Knoxx’s shoulders and pulling close for a kiss. Their lips clashed almost immediately.
I sprung up to my feet. This was my cue to leave. I snuck out of the hallway like everyone else and made my way to the school hall where their birthday party was being held.
The air inside reeked of expensive perfumes and fresh florals. I glanced around, admiring the dresses and the suits of the people in the room when I felt a hand grab me.
It was sudden.
My heart jumped in my chest as I batted an eye at Clarisse, the leader of the omega crew in charge of serving drinks. “What the hell are you doing staring? Go wear a uniform and start serving drinks.”
I did just as she said. I slipped into one of the waiter uniforms and grabbed a tray of champagne before shuffling into the scene. I moved around, serving the guests while I kept an eye out for Nick.
As the triplet's close friend, I expected him to be everywhere. As it seemed, it didn't look like he was going to be here any time soon. I passed the drinks, noticing the chill in the air.
Everyone was quietly waiting for the triplet.
Tonight, they'd pick their mate. Everyone was curious. Despite the surrounding rumour of Rejoice buying her way into being their chosen mate, a few believed the tables might turn.
“Waiter!”
I rushed over to hand over a drink to the lady who called for me. Just as I was about to pass the drink to her, the pack trumpet announced the triplets' presence in the hall. The lady I was about to pass the glass of champagne knocked it towards me to join the crowd of people shuffling towards the staircase.
The campaign stained my shirt. I lowered my gaze to stare at it before rushing over to the bathroom to go clean myself. The hallway leading to the bathroom was silent. Everyone in the mansion was in the hall.
I strolled into the hallway and was about to veer into the direction of the bathroom door when I heard a sound. A moan.
It was heavy.
“I want you, Nick.”
The voice was feather soft. Just like Rejoice’s.
My heart thumped in my chest. I shook my head. This couldn't be true. My boyfriend was having an affair. I had to leave.
I tried to turn back and scurry out of the hallway without making any noise. My vision tilted and I reached to gripped a nearby cabinet for support when all of a sudden, a sharp pain lodged at the back of my head. My legs gave away.
I crashed into cold, hard tiles.
It didn't take long before I heard footsteps. I tried to gather up strength to leave but it was already too late. The door to the male bathroom slammed open and I met the sight of 9 inch heels and black boots.
I didn't need to glance up at their faces to know it was them.
Fear growled in my chest as they walked towards me. “How could you do this to me, Nick?”
His eyes darkened as he walked towards me. “How did I do what to you? You were nothing but a means to an end Ben. Ever wondered why I called you to my dorm whenever I needed someone to warm my bed? I never liked you. You're nothing but a weak wolfless omega.”
His words stabbed holes in my chest.
My index quivered in the air as I pointed at Rejoice. “How could you do this to the triplet Alphas? You pretend to be this head over heels girlfriend when you're nothing but a cheating partner just like Ni—”
*Smack*
A wave of pain rolled down my spine. I let out shaky breaths as I gripped my cheeks.
The sound of Nick’s boots was the only sound I could hear. He stumped towards me slowly. I managed to scooch backwards a bit, my heart still pounding heavily in my chest when he caught hold of my neck.
“If a word about this goes out, I'll have your tongue cut off and tell the alphas you stole from them.”
My chest heaved. I opened my lips to speak but nothing came out. I watched as they left, rendering me speechless.
BENITO When next my eyes fluttered open, I felt arms wrap around me. Strong ones. The soft scent of their wolves riled mine up. I felt the softness of blankets against my legs and immediately gripped it.I ground my teeth into my lower lip as I pulled the blankets up. My heart jumped. I was naked.I gripped my head and glanced around to see them. The sight of their shirtless figures caught me by surprise. I had to leave.A life as their mate wasn't one I was ready to live.I had to leave. I guess it was high time I packed up and left the pack. The triplets were nothing but danger. I wouldn't allow myself to be swept into their lives. It took a long time for me to slide out of their arms but I finally made it out. I walked on the tip of my toes as I paced around the room, trying to wrap my head around everything that happened last night.I fixed my gaze on them for a second. They looked peaceful in their sleep. My wolf urged me to go back into their arms but unlike last night when I l
BENITO This couldn't be. The moon goddess has to be pulling a prank on us to have paired me with them. They were everything I wasn't. A role as their house pet was already hell enough. Being their mate would mean graduating to another level of suffering.I had to leave. My heart plummeted in my chest as I trailed my way towards the side of the wall. I clung to it, making sure they weren't in sight before running out. I didn't bat an eye in their direction. I made sure my steps were feather soft. I ran on the tip of my toes. When I got to the door leading out, I reached for it. I opened it slowly, hoping and praying that it wouldn't make a single noise. It made a creak. A loud one.I nearly kicked the metal door in anger as I turned my gaze to find the alphas— all three of them staring at me from across the hall. I froze. In that still moment, everything faded. “House pet?”The sound of Enzo's voice jerked me out of thoughts. I shook my head, cursing under my breath as I opened t

My breath became labored as I straightened my back against the wall and launched back up to my feetI tried to form words. The sound of Clarisse’s beaming voice was the last thing I wanted to hear.It grated against my eardrums.I fixed my face into a tight frown, watching as bright gleams of rage bubbled in her soulless green eyes. “I-i was jus—”Clarisse took steps towards me. “Cat got your tongue?”I straightened my back, sniffling softly. I wasn't going to let her boss me around anymore. I had had enough of her bullshit. “I said I was just about to come when I saw…”I was just about to finish speaking when Nick’s cold words echoed in my mind.My lips trembled. I never thought he'd do something like that to me. He promised to love me. Turns out I was just a
