KILLIAN'S POV

I did not take my eyes off Maya after asking her where she had been. The question hung in the quiet foyer, heavy and sharp.

Maya did not flinch. She looked back at me, her expression calm despite the late hour. "Carter took me to one of Toronto's most respected textile showrooms after classes," she explained softly.

"Our lecturer practically forced me to go. She said talent means nothing if nobody ever sees it." She walked past me toward the dining room, her movements deliberate.

  • Dirty Little Secret With My Stepbrother    Chapter 27

KILLIAN'S POVThe sharp line of light suddenly spilling from Dad's bedroom balcony was enough to pull me violently back to reality. Without hesitating, I stepped back into the shadows of my own room and quietly slid the glass door shut, locking it with a faint, careful click. I stood completely frozen in the pitch black, my heart hammering against my ribs, waiting until the heavy thud of his footsteps faded back down the hallway before I finally allowed myself to breathe again. The close call left me completely restless for the rest of the night. Every time I closed his eyes, the dark ceiling faded, replaced by the memory of Maya walking away from me at the arena earlier that day. I could still see the faint shimmer of unshed tears in her eyes after Victoria had greeted me so openly, claiming a right to my space in front of everyone.I knew Maya had misunderstood what happened. She thought it was a choice. She thought I wanted Victoria there, touching my shoulder and kissing my che

  • Dirty Little Secret With My Stepbrother    Chapter 26

MAYA’S POVI spent the rest of the day trying to convince myself that Victoria’s unexpected appearance at the arena shouldn't affect me. It was foolish to let it twist a knot into my stomach, and even more foolish to let my mind linger on it. After all, she had known the Yates family for years, and everyone in their high-society circle clearly adored her. She belonged in that brightly lit world of flashing cameras and corporate sponsorships. She was a natural fixture in it. Still, no matter how many times I ran the needle through the fabric at my workstation, the image of Victoria leaning in to kiss Killian’s cheek so effortlessly refused to leave my mind. The easy familiarity in her touch was a stark reminder of the massive wall that separated my life from his.Shaking the thoughts from my head, I buried myself in the frantic preparations for the charity banquet. Along with the other final-year fashion students, I spent hours making meticulous, final adjustments to the players' s

  • Dirty Little Secret With My Stepbrother    Chapter 25

KILLIAN'S POVI led Victoria into the quiet shadow of the exit tunnel, a short distance away from the bustling fitting area, before repeating the question that had been clawing at me since she walked into the arena."What are you doing here, Victoria?" I demanded, my voice low and sharp. "You never told me you were coming down to the campus today. I didn't expect to see you here at all."Victoria laughed softly, tilting her head as she looked up at me. "Are you serious, Killian? I literally told you during our dinner at the restaurant last night that I was stepping in to handle the sponsorship layout. Did you tune out everything I said after you saw that lipstick stain?"I swallowed the sudden surge of tension in my throat, keeping my face entirely blank."I wanted to surprise you by actually showing up on day one," she continued smoothly, brushing a stray hair from her shoulder. "My father recently placed me in charge of overseeing the entire Sterling Group sponsorship for the Toron

  • Dirty Little Secret With My Stepbrother    Chapter 24

KILLIAN'S POVI noticed the atmosphere change the moment Victoria walked into the arena. The usual hum of sewing machines and quiet chatter vanished, replaced by the distinct, sycophantic murmur that always followed high-society names. Sponsors, university officials, and members of the organizing committee immediately stepped forward to welcome her, practically tripping over themselves to thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to support the charity banquet."Victoria, what a wonderful surprise," the athletic director gushed, shaking her hand. "We are absolutely thrilled to have the Sterling Group on board this year.""The pleasure is all mine," Victoria replied, her voice smooth, dripping with the effortless confidence of someone who had been bred for rooms exactly like this one. "My father and William both agreed that our involvement was essential this season."Standing only a few inches away from me on the small wooden fitting platform, Maya didn't say a word. She qui

  • Dirty Little Secret With My Stepbrother    Chapter 23

MAYA'S POVBreakfast at the Yates Estate was unusually lively the following morning. The dining room was filled with the bright morning sun, and William was in an excellent mood, talking excitedly about the Toronto Wolves' recent dominant performances. He gestured with his hands, reminding both Killian and me that this would be one of the busiest, most critical periods of our final year before graduation. My mother laughed softly, pouring herself another cup of tea. "The house is going to feel so empty once they both leave university and begin chasing their careers. We will have to get used to the quiet all over again.""They'll be fine, Helena," William said, dismissively waving his hand with a smile. "They are our children after all. They thrive under pressure. Isn't that right, Killian?"Killian didn't look up from his plate, his voice completely flat. "Yes, Dad."The conversation naturally shifted to old family friends when William casually looked up from his newspaper. “I heard

  • Dirty Little Secret With My Stepbrother    Chapter 22

KILLIAN'S POVI left the Yates Estate shortly after Victoria's call, the heavy wooden front door clicking shut behind me as I stepped into the freezing night air. My tires crunched over the gravel driveway as I peeled out of the gates, the engine roaring against the silence of the residential area. I hated that she had this power over my schedule—that a single, vague threat from her could pull me away from the quiet peace I had just found with Maya downstairs. But I decided it would be easier to just meet her and face whatever game she was playing than to keep avoiding her messages. It had been months since we last spent any real time together. Victoria had been away handling responsibilities for her family's company in Europe, only returning to Toronto recently for the charity banquet and other ongoing corporate commitments between the Sterling and Yates families. When I arrived at the upscale downtown restaurant she had chosen, the hostess led me to a secluded booth in the back.
