Blaze stood up at once while I moved closer without thinking.“What happened?”Colt looked at me first. “Nina woke up.”Relief hit me so hard my chest almost hurt.“Thank goodness.”“But…” He rubbed his face tiredly before finishing. “She’s terrified.”Fear settled heavily in my stomach again.“Terrified of what?”“She said someone was following her before the attack.” Colt glanced toward Damon, who had just come back upstairs after hearing our voices. “And she said the man knew Betty’s name.”The room went quiet again.I hated how silence always followed bad news lately.Damon’s face darkened. “Did she describe him?”Colt nodded slowly. “Tall. Silver eyes. Black clothes.”The same man.Cold fear crawled through me so fast it almost made me dizzy.“He touched her,” Colt continued quietly. “Not violently. He grabbed her arm and told her
Betty’s POVMy heart refused to calm down after the stranger disappeared through the window. Broken glass covered the floor while cold air rushed into the room. Guards downstairs were moving around trying to secure the house again, but I could barely focus on any of that.I kept thinking about his words.Your mother.Your bloodline. The things your alphas are hiding.None of it made sense to me, yet the expressions on Damon and Blaze’s faces made me feel like maybe some of it made sense to them. They were definitely hiding something from me.Blaze paced around the room angrily while Damon checked the hallway before locking the windows again. I stayed quiet for a moment because now I was scared in a completely different way.I wasn't scared of being attacked again. I was just scared that there was something wrong with me that everyone else knew except me.Finally I looked at Damon directly. “What was he talking about?”He didn't even give me an answer and he just stared in silence. Tha
Betty’s POVRocco looked ready to lose his mind. He shoved past Blaze immediately, but Blaze grabbed his arm before he could rush outside.“I’m going there.”“You’re not going alone,” Damon said quickly. “Don't you understand it's dangerous for you to go there at this time? Don't you know that you might not come back alive?”“I don’t care!”“You should,” Blaze snapped. “If this is a trap and you run in there angry, you’ll get yourself killed too.”Rocco looked like he wanted to punch somebody. His chest was rising heavily and his eyes were glowing faintly already.“What if she’s lying there hurt right now?” he shouted. “What if we’re wasting time?”“We’re already searching,” Damon replied firmly. “Losing control won’t help Nina.”“Nina is my best friend and even though I don't agree with not going to look for her, but I don't think she would be happy if you lost your life because of her. I don't want my friend to stay guilty for the rest of her life so you should better listen to them
Damon’s POVEveryone was quiet at the mention of blood because it was intense in the room and everybody had different sort of expectations, especially when I looked towards Betty. Rocco grabbed the nearest chair so hard it cracked under his hand. Blaze already looked ready to tear somebody apart while Colt immediately started giving orders to the guards outside. I was trying to stay calm, but honestly my chest was tight too because if Nina was badly hurt, Betty was going to break down again and she was already emotionally exhausted.I looked toward Betty again to see if she was doing okay after hearing this. She had gone completely pale.“Hey,” I said quietly while moving toward her. “Look at me.”She looked up slowly, her eyes already watery.“She’s going to be okay.”“You don’t know that.”No, I didn’t. But I couldn’t say that right now.Rocco suddenly moved forward. “Take me there.”“You’re not going alone,” Blaze replied immediately. "What if something dangerous is happening? What
Betty’s POV“Nina?”The moment Blaze said her name, my heart dropped.“What do you mean she’s gone?” I asked, standing too fast from the bed.Blaze grabbed my arm before I lost balance. “Careful.”I ignored that immediately. “What happened to Nina?”Blaze already looked frustrated. “Rocco said she left the apartment earlier tonight after getting a strange phone call and never came back.”Fear crawled into my chest instantly. “No. Nina wouldn’t just disappear without saying anything.”“That’s exactly what Rocco said.”I grabbed my phone and dialed Nina’s number immediately. It rang for a few seconds before suddenly going dead. My stomach twisted painfully. Something was wrong. Blaze was already texting Damon and Colt while I kept trying Nina’s number over and over like maybe this time she would answer. Nothing.“We need to go find her.”“We are.”“No, I mean now.”Blaze gently grabbed my shoulders before I could start pacing. “Damon and Colt are already moving people around. Relax.”“H
Betty’s POVAfter Damon got that call, the whole mood in the house changed immediately. The little peace we finally managed to have disappeared again. He left the living room quickly after telling Blaze and Colt that Travis had disappeared together with two bikers they already suspected of leaking information. The tracker suddenly stopped working too, like somebody destroyed it on purpose. That alone made me uncomfortable because Travis was not smart enough to pull all this off by himself. Somebody was helping him and deep down I knew this situation was getting dangerous again.I stayed downstairs alone after they left. The silence in the house made me overthink everything. I kept replaying the tracker audio in my head.“If she remembers what happened that night, we’re all dead.”Every time I thought about it, my chest tightened painfully. What exactly was I supposed to remember?I finally stood up to go upstairs but dizziness hit me immediately. I grabbed the edge of the table quickl
