Elana POV

Damon got me home an hour ago, and he is still here, hovering. Alexis is here as well. After a very heated argument between the two of us, she left and came back with groceries. She has been cursing my name as she puts everything away. I am glad Gabby isn’t here to hear the words coming out of her mouth. I didn’t even know half of these words existed, and I don’t want Gabby to learn them.

I watch as Alexis puts all the things back in the wrong place, and I keep trying to get up to help, but Damon keeps pushing me back down onto the couch.

“You are supposed to be resting,” he reminds me.

Alexis points a frying pan in my direction. “Rest.”

“Would you two stop?” I hiss. “I am not helpless.”

“You could have fooled me,” Alexis snarls from the kitchen. “You scared the shit out of us.”

“Stop worrying about me,” I return her anger.

Damon looks slightly wounded, but Alexis looks pissed. “No!” She shouts. “How can we not be worried about you? Why didn’t you tell me you had

  • Pursing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 34

Elana POVMy head is pounding, and waves of nausea keep washing over me. The light overhead seems to burn through my eyelids, and I groan uncomfortably. Fighting against the pulsing pain in my head, I force my eyes open.I am in the hospital, again, but I don’t remember how I got here. The last thing I remember is Damon and Victor fighting together in the library parking lot. I am going to lose my job this time. I am sure of it. I have caused too many issues over the past weeks. It would be enough for any employer to let someone go. Raised voices from the hallway catch my attention, and even though there is a curtain blocking my view, I know who they belong to. “She is wasting away,” the pack doctor explains. “She has lost ten or more pounds since the rejection ceremony. That is likely the cause of her fainting.”“Is she sick?” Victor asks. There is a long pause before the doctor answers. “No.” Victor begins to pace angrily. “Then what is wrong with her?”“You are no lon

  • Pursing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 33

Victor POVWhen I walk into the library and see Damon’s arms wrapped around Elana, something snaps inside of me. Until now, I have managed to remain calm when it comes to the two of them, but when he kisses her on the top of the head, I can’t stop the snarl from coming from my lips.“Why are you always fucking here?” Elana pulls away from Damon with a guilty look on her face, but Damon has the fucking audacity to look smug. He reaches for her again, but my growl stops him.“Don’t fucking touch her again.” “Or what?” Damon taunts playfully. “Are you going to attack me in the library?” I grind my teeth together. “No. We can settle this outside.” Damon steps away from Elana, and I feel like I can breathe. “Fine.” He hops over the library counter and makes his way to the door, ripping off his shirt in the process. I should be watching my brother, but my eyes are glued to Elana. Her gaze is on Damon, and I can feel her worry for him rolling off her. She fucking cares for him.

  • Pursing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 32

Elana POVClasses and work drag on. Tomorrow is the court date with Victor, and I don’t know how to prove that the DNA test that was completed is false. It is my word against Victor’s, and I don’t think anyone will believe me. My recent proximity to Damon is making me look guilty. I pretend like I don’t care, but the truth is… I do. I want to be loved like I once was when I was the Luna of the pack. I hate that people think poorly of me. The library is mostly empty, and it gives me time to study. But my mind keeps drifting away from my school work, and finally, I slam my books closed and stuff them back into my bag. Turning to the library computer, I begin to search for the probability of DNA tests being inaccurate. The results aren’t helping my anxiety. It is unlikely that the results are wrong because they were performed in a hospital setting.Leaning in closer to the computer, I try to read the fine print of a university website. When a shadow is cast over me, and the sc

  • Pursing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 31

Elana POVAfter the fiasco on campus yesterday, the librarian graciously gave me the rest of the week off. Apparently, she has witnessed the fight between Damon and Victor, and instead of judging me, she took pity on me. She rested a wrinkled hand on my shoulder and told me that no man is worth that much drama. I couldn’t help but laugh, because she isn’t wrong. No man is worth this. Gabby is sitting at the kitchen table putting together a puzzle while I finish up my homework. Her little hands are still scuffed and bandaged, but she is humming sweetly to herself.I smile to myself, grateful that she is a pleasant child. Even though her whole life has been turned upside down, she continues to be happy.A knock on my door makes both of us look up. Gabby stops humming, and a frown mars her pretty little face. She has enjoyed our quiet day together. “It’s okay,” I assure her. “I will tell whoever is there to go away. We are having a mommy-Gabby day.” She lets out a little huf

Elana POVA crowd has begun to gather, and I can’t hide my embarrassment. Gabby is still crying loudly, and Damon is trying to clean her hands while I offer what comfort to her that I can. Victor has yet to leave; his arms are crossed over his chest, and he is snarling in Damon’s direction.“I don’t want Daddy here,” Gabby sobs. “He is mean.” “Shh,” Damon soothes her. “You don’t mean that. You are just hurt.” “I do mean it,” she wails. “He is mean and he hates me.” Victor rolls his eyes dramatically. “I don’t hate you, Gabby.” “Yes, you do,” she continued to try. “Go away.”He tries to step closer to Gabby and Damon, but it only makes her shriek louder. I place myself between the two of them and hold Victor back with my hands.“Just leave,” I spit at him. “I think you have done enough.” He huffs loudly. “You can’t possibly be blaming this on me. You are the one who dropped your daughter on the ground. If anyone is to blame, it is you.”“Your daughter,” I repeat his wo
