Jaxon

Cassandra's collapse was dramatic.

She fell in the main hallway just after breakfast, crumpling to the floor like her strings had been cut. One of the omegas screamed. Pack members rushed over. And I found myself carrying her to the car, rushing her to the pack hospital, trying to understand what had just happened.

Now I'm sitting in the sterile waiting room, wondering why I feel more irritated than concerned.

Dr. Lukas finally emerges, looking puzzled rather than worried.

"She's fine," sh

SkyeI knew Jaxon went through my phone the minute I stepped out of the bathroom.I could tell by the way it's placed on the nightstand—screen down instead of up, shifted slightly from where I left it.He knows I've been in contact with Nicolai. And I know the confrontation is coming. It happens at breakfast.I'm pouring tea when Jaxon dismisses the staff with a curt gesture, leaving us alone."I want to know about Nicolai Woolf," Jaxon says, his tone demanding.I set down my teacup carefully, buying myself a moment. "What about him?""How often have you been in contact with him?""That's none of your business.""You're my mate—""I'm your wife in name only." I meet his eyes steadily. "Who I talk to is my own concern."Jaxon leans forward, his hands flat on the table. "He's waiting for you to leave me, isn’t he? Ready to swoop in the moment you walk out that door."For a moment, I consider lying. Denying everything. But I'm so tired of lying."Yes, I've been in contact with Nicolai. H

JaxonWhen Noah finds me hours later, still staring at the same legal documents."You're approaching this wrong," he says, looking over my shoulder to see what I’m reading."Then tell me the right approach.""Stop trying to trap her here with you." Noah sits down, his expression serious. "Stop thinking about legal rights and custody battles and how to force her to stay.""Then what should I be thinking about?""Why she wants to leave in the first place." Noah leans forward. "And whether you're willing to actually change to give her a reason to stay.""I'm trying—""Are you?" Noah's voice is sharp. "Or are you just going through the motions because you're afraid of losing control? Jaxon, you're still treating this like a problem to solve rather than a relationship to fix."The accusation stings because it's true."I don't know how to fix it," I admit. "She won't talk to me. Won't listen. Every time I try, she shuts me down.""Because your idea of 'trying' is making grand gestures and e

JaxonI can't sleep.Skye is in the bed beside me. She’s still letting me sleep here so that’s something, I guess. But she’s turned away, and her breathing is too controlled to actually be asleep. We're both lying here in the dark, pretending. Avoiding the conversation we should be having. The threat about the pack council replays in my mind on an endless loop.I guess we'll see what the pack council has to say about an Alpha who holds his pregnant mate hostage. The way she looked at me when she said it—cold, certain, unafraid—told me everything I needed to know. She's not bluffing. She's really going to leave. And I have no idea how to stop her.Morning finally dawns with no relief. I haven’t slept a wink, still agonizing over the situation I find myself in. I'm in the pack council chambers before most of the pack is awake, waiting in the private meeting room reserved for sensitive discussions.I requested an emergency session with only the three senior council members. Elder Graham,

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 56

SkyeI'm still on the phone when I hear footsteps on the garden path."I have to go," I say quickly, ending the call with Nicolai and tucking my phone into my pocket.Jaxon emerges from the shadows, his face tight with barely controlled emotion."I've been looking everywhere for you.""I needed air."His eyes drop to my pocket where I just put my phone. "Who were you talking to?""A friend.""What friend?" His voice hardens. "At this hour?""Someone who actually cares about my wellbeing."The barb hits home. Jaxon flinches. "I care about you. You're carrying my child—""That's not the same thing."He moves closer, and I force myself not to retreat. Not to show weakness."You were going to leave," he says. It's not a question. "You were planning to divorce me and take my child, and never tell me about the pregnancy."There's no point in lying now. "Yes. I was.""How could you?" His voice cracks with what sounds like genuine hurt. "How could you plan to take my baby away from me?""Like

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 55

SkyeI need air.The Alpha house feels like it's closing in on me—walls pressing closer with every breath, every whispered congratulation, every knowing look from pack members who think they understand what's happening. They don't.No one does. They never have. Not from the day Jaxon made me his Luna despite wanting nothing to do with me. I slip out the back entrance and make my way to the garden, to the stone bench near the rose arbor where Nicolai and I talked during his visit. It feels like a lifetime ago. Before the pregnancy was discovered. Before everything spiraled out of control.I sit down heavily, pressing one hand to my stomach. The secret I'd guarded so carefully is now pack knowledge. Jaxon knows. Everyone knows.I should feel relieved that I don't have to hide anymore. No more flowing dresses and careful angles. No more avoiding Dr. Lukas and making excuses about being tired.Instead, I just feel trapped.Because now Jaxon will never let me go. Not without a fight. A ch

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 54

JaxonI'm still in my office that evening, contemplating my life choices, when there's a knock on the door.Cassandra.She's dressed simply—jeans and a sweater—clearly in the middle of packing for her move to the guest house. But her expression is perfectly sympathetic as she steps inside."I heard about Skye's pregnancy," she says softly. "Congratulations, Jaxon. That's wonderful news."Her tone is warm. Supportive. Everything it should be.But there's something in her eyes—a calculation, a reassessment—that makes me keep my guard up."Thank you," I say carefully."This must be such a relief." She settles into the chair across from my desk uninvited. "Now Liam will have a sibling. A real family."The way she emphasizes real family—like she's still part of it, like this pregnancy somehow validates her place here—makes my wolf snarl."Cassandra, we've talked about this—""I know, I know. The guest house." She waves a hand dismissively. "I'm moving tomorrow, like you asked. But surely no
