Chapter 24

My throat felt dry and all the things that I planned to tell Alexander vanished in thin air. I shifted my gaze to him and was hoping that he would tell Freya to leave his room for a while so we could at least talk privately. But what happened was the total opposite.

“After what you did today, you are still shameless to come and see me?” he sneered. “Leave.”

As he held Freya’s hand and pulled her inside, a pang of pain had shot in my chest yet again. I was still unsure if it was because I was hurt at what Alexander did or if it was due to the same mystery reason why I fainted a while back. Even though his room was large and spacious, the air became thin that it was already hard for me to breathe. It was like the three of us inside were already too suffocating.

“Leave,” Alexander repeated. This time, his voice hardened as he looked at me as if I committed a grave sin.
