Jace’s POVThe hospital hallway felt longer than it actually was. It was stretched out in endless white under the dim glow of fluorescent lights. Staring at nothing, I was sitting slouched on one of the chairs, my elbows on my knees and my hands locked together. Dominic’s POVThe signature antiseptic stench of the hospital clung to everything, the sheets, walls and even to my skin. It made me feel small and boxed in like some wounded animal in a cage. The monitors beside me beeped in a steady rhythm, their sound drilling into my head. My ribs burned every time I tried to shift. My leg, which was encased in plaster, was heavy and felt foreign.
