LOGINMorgana's POV
Ryker watches me as I add the poison to the Alpha’s whiskey.
“Add everything,” he instructs, his voice hard. Always hard. He just cannot pretend to be soft for too long. “I don’t trust that man to remain dead with the little quantity you put.”
I do as instructed. I pour all the poison and toss the empty bottle into a waste bag. I cork the whiskey back.
With a practiced smile playing on my lips, I carry the tray.
“Now… go. Make sure he drinks it. Don’t forget… your victory determines the fate of our marriage.”
Marriage?
This dickhead.
That is never a marriage; it is a prison that I will break free from.
“Alright, darling.”
I step out of the room and make my way straight to the Alpha’s lounge.
I feel Ryker’s gaze piercing into my back. He wants to make sure that I do his bidding.
When I reach the door, I take a deep breath. I do not know what I am going to do yet, but I know he is not going to drink the poison.
I knock lightly and only step in after I hear his voice summoning me inside.
Inside, the room is thick with the smell of arousal and lust. Same scene as my previous life. One of the club strippers is on her knees right in front of him.
His gaze finds me, and he smirks. Dark and knowing. A guttural growl spills from him as he leaves the stripper before him.
I heave in relief. Even though I know he is alive… it is good to see him myself. Alive and breathing.
But does he really love me like Ryker says in my previous life?
If he does… then why does he indulge the strippers right in my presence?
And he is still married to the Queen, so why would he love me?
And to think he saves me from drowning… my heart swells with gratitude.
“Now, leave!” he barks.
The lady stands and runs out of the room.
I remain by the door, trying to calm my nerves and stop the desperate clenching between my thighs.
So, I manage a smile and approach him cautiously. “I brought your drink.”
No response. He just takes a long drag of his cigarette, the smell wafting into my nostrils as I set the tray before him.
My hand trembles as I uncork the wine and fill his glass. Just as I anticipate, he wraps his hand around my wrist.
I do not ask questions this time.
I just drag my eyes over him—from his face that looks like he is still in his thirties when everyone says he is over fifty… clearly time does nothing to him, to his tattooed strong chest revealed by his undone upper buttons, then to the thick bulge pressing against his leather pants.
Goddess…
Desire pulses through me.
What the hell is wrong with me?
I have always tried to control myself around him even though it is difficult, but today… I just want to surrender to the desire coiling inside me.
I just want to drop to my knees… but he is my father-in-law, and the Queen would literally kill me if she learns about any entanglement with her husband.
Then he bursts into a loud, maniacal laugh that shakes the walls. “What is going through your mind, Morganna?”
The way he says my name… Morganna… it sounds like music—one I want to hear first thing in the morning when I wake and the last thing at night before I sleep.
“No—thing,” I stammer, afraid he will see through the thoughts I harbor.
He throws my hand away, and the bottle slips from my fingers. It drops onto the glass and they both shatter, spilling onto the floor.
I gasp. “I’m so sorry. I will clean up and get you another drink.”
He does not respond. His gaze remains scrutinizing as I turn and make my way out of the room, relieved that he has made it easier to get rid of the poisoned drink… because I plan to let it drop anyway before handing it to him.
Suddenly, I stop mid-step.
Ryker says he once fantasizes about me, right?
What if I just seduce him instead?
I could turn Ryker’s plan against him. If he knows I do not succeed in murdering his father tonight, he will not stop trying. So I could just tell him I had to change my plans when the drink spills.
There is my mother-in-law. But then… she has never been exactly good to me. In fact, she treats me worse than her son does, and looking at it now, she has always doted on Delilah.
It has not been confirmed yet, but why do I feel like she might know about Delilah and Ryker’s relationship—and even about the attempt on the king’s life? Rumors say both of them are not on good terms.
But then… I have died once, and I am the last person in the position to care about what others think.
This time, I will let myself love the Alpha. I will let myself be claimed by him—not in his memories anymore—and lastly, I will make sure he survives Ryker’s plans.
“Why the fuck are you still standing there?” he says, irritated.
I toss the tray aside and turn toward him. Then I drop to my knees. The cold tiled floor burns against my skin, but I do not care. I start crawling slowly toward him.
His brows furrow in confusion. “What are you doing?”
I do not answer; I just keep crawling until I am right in front of him.
“Daddy…” I breathe out. Low. Sultry.
His jaw twitches at the name. Veins stand out in his neck like he is barely holding himself back. His chest rises and falls with effort, like a chained predator.
Not Alpha.
Not father.
But Daddy.
Low.
Sultry.
An invitation.
I swallow hard, my fingers fisting into his thighs.
“Daddy… I just realized that you don’t need a drink.”
“Then what do I need?”
My lips curl. “Me.” His belt is already unbuckled, and I grip the zipper. “Me, Daddy. You need Morganna. Your little girl.”
Ryker’s POV:“Father, have you seen Morgana? She’s been gone all night and her phone isn’t going through.”Something is going on right now.And I'm sure it has everything to do with my father.“I don’t know,” he replies, without even sparing me a glance. “Why don’t you look for her?”“I’m trying,” I sigh. Seriously, what is wrong with Morgana? After the wedding she just vanished. I’d gone to painstaking lengths getting a reservation for us, a little treat to show her that i can still be the good husband she remembers, and this is how she repays me?I’ve always known her to be an ungrateful wretch but this is over the top.“Dad,”He sighs and turns to me. “What do you want, Ryker?”I open my mouth to reply, then it hits me.Something is seriously wrong. He’s dressed in all black, the attire I usually see him in when he has a bike race. Which is crazy, because shouldn’t he have given that up already? Isn't he too old for that?I don’t dare voice my thoughts. Partly because he doesn’t l
Morgana’s POVI couldn’t focus for the rest of the wedding. In my defense, I tried. I told alpha Dante I wanted to end things. End things? That makes it sound like there was something between us to begin with. “Another glass?” The bartender asks with wide eyes. “Miss, I assume this isn’t my place, but perhaps switch to water?”I force on a small smile and nudge my empty glass forward. The ice clinks together. I pluck out one and pop it into my mouth. “Don’t worry about me. I have high alcohol tolerance.”He doesn’t look convinced. He’s looking at me, his expression caught between worry and professional ignorance. He chooses the latter, refills my glass and adds another ice cube. The ice in my mouth burns. I chew into it, ignoring how my teeth explodes in pain. The whiskey is gone in three gulps. “Hey, do you have a minute?” I push the glass forward again. “I’m kinda losing my mind here.”He gives me a skeptical look before looking around the bar. I’m at the hotel bar and it’s no
Dante’s POVIf Morgana keeps looking at me that way, I’ll do something I’m bound to regret. My sister is getting married. She should be my entire focus. I should be playing the part of the overbearing older brother down to a tee. Instead I can’t stop looking at Morgana. Fuck me. Is it the dress that hugs her body, tempting me to rip it off and take her in front of everyone?Or maybe it’s her eyes. Fuck me. They way she’s looking at me I can fucking guess what she’s thinking. Or it’s the way her scent reaches me from a distance, soft and floral and slightly different than I remember. It’s a mix of everything. And exactly why I should keep away from her. My wolf hasn’t stopped judging me for the previous night. For making her cry and sending her away in anger. What a bastard. I’ve given up explaining this to him over and over. She doesn’t know she’s my mate. As far as she’s concerned, I’m her father in law. Yet my mind wanders. Melissa is the one at the altar. Yet I think of M
Morgana’s POV:Today is the day. I can’t believe it’s been two days since I came to Las Vegas. It feels like two years. The festivities are a blur. First, I wake to the sound of commotion outside the door. Turns out Ryker was already up and getting ready. When I asked why he didn’t wake me, he mumbled something I couldn’t understand. Fine. That wasn’t a problem. I’m one of Melissa’s bridesmaids. The fact that I almost overslept on her special day is a slap to the face. I hastily get ready and head to her preparation room. Surprisingly, things are more calm inside. Her friends are composed as they help the stylists get Melissa ready. After a furious apology for my tardiness, I join them, my stomach fluttering with nerves as if I’m the one getting married. Three hours later, Melissa walks down the aisle, Alpha Dante leading her. It’s a lovely day, the sun is out, the air is loaded with the scent of flower arrangements, and birds twitter all around the garden. I swear these weren
Third person POVIn another hotel. Inside a secluded, private suite. Selene Harley, dressed in a dark purple silken robe, stares out of the open window overlooking the Split. She takes dainty sips out of a wine glass containing a liquid too thick and glossy to be wine. Her eyes are focused in the distance, such that one might think she sees someone in the blitzing light. Her demeanor is relaxed and peaceful. Long red nails tap rhythmically against the wine glass. The liquid inside doesn’t move. “Darling?” A deep masculine voice calls from the door. Selene turns, her full lips curving into a smile. “You’re late,” she says, tilting her head to the side. Her straight hair sweeps over her shoulder, the motion slow and seductive. The man walks in, a cocky smirk on his face. He comes up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he peppers soft kisses over her clothed shoulder. “You should be resting against tomorrow,” he murmurs, his grip tightening. Selene turns back to the
Morgana’s POVI stumble the entire way back to the suite. My head is stuck in a permanent disarray. I can’t think straight or even see straight. I keep replaying that conversation with alpha Dante over and over again. He knows. He’s know. And now he hates me.Everything makes sense. Why he hates me so much. Why he keeps looking at me like I did something horrible to him.Outside the door to the suite, I stare down at my hands. With these hands, I ended his life. I gave him that poisoned whiskey. I watched him drink it. I watched the life and light fade from his eyes. What possessed me?What sort of sorcery did Ryker use on me? was the prospect of him fucking me enough to make me commit actual murder.I shudder, hugging myself and trying to shake off the images.Back then I didn’t give it this much thought.I turn, glancing in the direction of Alpha Dante’s suite. He’s right to hate me. he’s right to never speak to me again or even see me again. If he reports me to the council, or even
Morganna's PovThe pit in my stomach deepens. What?!Babe?!She must have had a slip of the tongue.I expect Ryker to glare at her like he always does and tell her she is mistaken, but instead, he smiles. A smile he has never given me.“Yes!” he replies firmly. “We did it, my love.”My love?!I par
Morgana' Pov“I swear, once you get my father to drink this, I will change. The reason why I have been hard on you is because Father has been annoying me a lot lately. Once you get rid of him, I will become happier and be a different person for you. I will truly love you this time, Mor. We will sta
Morgana's POVMy chest clenches so tightly that I can barely breathe. My stomach burns fiercely. I jolt awake, my breathing erratic as I sit up on the three-seater couch. But there is no blood spilling from my mouth and nose. I am neither in the grave nor in the afterlife.No. Far from it.I am in
Morgana’s POVOh my goddess he’s hard! I fight him with everything inside m
