MasukSAMIEN'S POV
Fear! It swept quickly through me.
Cold shivers ran down my spine, the instructor's words ringing in my mind.
No! This wasn't possible.
I couldn't take a strip test. I just couldn't.
Doing that would reveal my secret and expose me to the whole world. I'd be expelled from the Wolf's academy too.
My feet dragged against the tarred floor. Frustration sat pretty in my eyes.
I didn't look ahead, so I collided into a figure. Huge and hefty, it caused me to stagger.
“Watch where you're going girl.” It was Mark, and in his usual teasing voice.
I sighed. I had no time for this, especially now.
Slowly, I tried moving around. He wouldn't let me. His big body blocked my way.
I frowned, my gaze narrowing. “What is it with you? Why won't you let me be, after all you won and I lost.”
It took every nerve to keep the tears in my eyes from rolling down.
“You're alright?” He asked, his voice dripping with worry.
I shot him a cold stare, hissing. Then I tried to move, and again, he wouldn't let me.
“Mark!”
“You've not answered me!” He said. “You don't look alright.”
“Yes!” I snapped. “Anyone would look alright after taking a beating from you.”
I shoved him aside, and forged on, the side that hit him, aching a bit..
Alone in my hostel room, I turned the lock through the door, then took off my shoes and clothes.
I was naked in a minute, my figure staring me in the face as I stood before the mirror.
My heart wouldn't stop thumping. How could it? This was crazy; everything.
How could I even request to undergo a strip test?
My life would be ruined with this. How would I return to my father? He'd be so mad, and might have me skinned alive.
And my sister who had risked her life to process everything for me? She'd be so disappointed.
Hell, I couldn't do one simple thing.
Now, I allowed the tears down my face. There was no holding back anymore.
It was certain; my days at the Wolf's academy were limited.
Drained, I sprawled out on my bed, my head facing the ceiling…
Almost immediately, I sprung to my feet, racing swiftly towards the door.
A sigh of relief. I thought I hadn't locked the door when I stepped in.
Back to bed, tossing from left to right and back again until I eventually fell asleep.
Morning came as fast as it took death to execute its task.
A loud yawn escaped through my lips as I sat upright. My body ached, the injury from yesterday still hitting.
Laying in bed the entire day was all I wanted to do. Never possible though.
I Lazily got out of bed and was ready in a jiffy. Out I went, not knowing what fate awaits me.
The training hall was half full when I strolled in. Eyes rested on me, taking me all in one stare.
This look was different though. I could see it in their eyes. It was filled with admiration.
I could imagine what thoughts ran through their minds as I made my way to my seat.
Soft murmurs and whispers.
A smile etched on my brows, fading as quickly as it came.
I settled in, my hand tapping against the edge of the table.
“Hey star girl,” a voice barked into my ears..
Ryker..
My eyes rolled in disdain. I wasn't in the mood for talks, especially with him.
“Hello! Good morning,” a gentle snort. Passing off as a snub was the only way out.
He shook my arm then. “Didn't hear me?”
I sighed, turning my face towards him just then. “Good morning!”
“Didn't wanna respond?” He laughed. Nothing was funny to me, especially at that time of my life.
“I just thought to—”
Dane strolled in just then, his face stern. His eyes darted around like he was searching for something.
He definitely was.
His eyes stopped, resting on me.
“Roberts Scott!” He barked. I sprung to my feet, legs shaking hard as I looked at him.
“Yes sir.”
The hall was silent, save soft whispers the others made.
“Come with me.”
I swallowed hard, moving quickly behind him. This was it. May or not, I might be expelled from the academy.
Not just expelled. Disgraced too.
My hands rubbed against each other, heart thumping hard.
In silence, we trudged on until we were at the clinic.
“Why am I here sir?” I asked, even though I knew fully well why he had brought me there.
The nurses stood, waiting for his words.
“The strip test will be carried out here and now in front of some other instructors. They should be here in minutes.”
I shuddered, only for a few seconds. Then something surged within me, swift and intense.
“Why do I have to take a strip test?” I asked. My voice was loud and hard.
His eyes widened, disbelief swelling in them.
“What made you think you have the right to question me?” He stood akimbo, his feet dragging forward a few steps.
My eyes locked on his. “Since I've come here, I haven't heard of a student who had to take the strip test? Why?”
“You don't get to question me!!” He snapped, hands tightening into fists.
I stood firm, unshaken.
The other instructors arrived one after the other, their eyes dead serious.
They stood beside Dane, lips grimly pressed against each other. I looked at them as if asking for them.
It didn't look like they would. They were all in this after all.
“Well, I at least deserve an answer, and until I get to see other students who've been forced to take a strip test, then I won't take this.”
Dane smirked, then his fingers snapped. The other instructors charged forward, their hands grabbing my arms.
I struggled to break free but they were fierce, their strength unmatchable.
I didn't stop fighting. My entire life depended on this.
“What’s going on here?” A voice echoed through the clinic.
My eyes turned. Mark.
SAMIEN'S POV “Samienm!!” I could hear Lyra's shrill voice from the corridor. The door flung open and there she stood, worried.Beads of sweat cascaded down her face. In a jiffy, she flung herself at me, hugging fiercely.I was uncomfortable. She tugged too hard and tight, but I couldn't bring myself to complain.“Thank goodness you're fine! I was terrified upon hearing the news and immediately rushed down.”I nodded, managing a smile.“Hope they didn't hurt you? No bruise, or rough handling?” She scanned my body, her eyes keen.“I'm fine Lyra. Thankfully, Mark got here in time and fought them off.”“Mark?” Her eyes widened in shock. “You brought him home?”“Of course not!” My face hardened, her action replaying in my head. “Don't you dare think I've forgiven you for what you did.”Lyra giggled. I was irked. Did she think it's funny?“I'm sorry. But did you bring Mark home?”“No, I didn't. He somehow followed me home, claiming he cannot accept my decision.”“Gosh! He must truly love
SATORI'S POV Desperate was an understatement for how I felt at that moment.Mark was mine, and mine alone. Why was this so hard for him to understand? Why does he keep chasing after that cheap girl? Is there something she has that I don't?Tears welled in my eyes. I quickly wiped my face before the waters came trickling.“What's wrong?” A loud voice boomed into my ears. I jumped, startled.Vesperus. “Are you crying?” She asked, pulling towards me.I wiped my face quickly, then shook hard. “Crying? Of course not!” She stood akimbo, her face stern. “Then why do you have tears in your eyes? Tell me, what's wrong!”There was no point lying to her again. She was my friend afterall.“It's Mark?”Her countenance hardened. “Mark? What's up with him?”“Why can't he just love me? Our parents want us together but all he keeps doing is going after that good for nothing slut, Samien.”“Wait..” her eyes flickered non-stop. “You and Mark?”I nodded. “Yes.. is something wrong?”“Nothing! Nothing
SAMIEN'S POV I raised my head to see who it was.Mark.“I just asked you to let go of her!” He snapped, yanked one of them off the floor and threw him across. The others charged at him, their eyes flashing with anger. Blows upon blows landed on their faces, sending them to the floor in seconds.“Are you alright?” He rushed to my side, his hands wrapping around my shoulders. Loud winces tore through the rogues lips as they quickly made their escape.“What are you doing here?” “Is that what I get after saving you from those men?” His eyes latched on me, flickering softly. Guilt washed through me.“Thank you,” I muttered with pouted lips. “So what are you doing here?”“I couldn't accept losing you, so I followed you with the hope of convincing you.”I gasped. This was the height of desperation. Was this some sort of joke?“Is it that you've got comprehension issues or you're just been so annoying? I already made myself clear to you, haven't I?”“Please just give me one chance! That's
SAMIEN'S POV Lyra’s loud voice rang through the corridor. Without doubt, my room was her destination. The door opened just then. She stood still, a grin on her face.“How's my wonderful sister doing?” Her face burned with excitement. Suddenly, she threw herself on my bed.Boom!A loud cry rang from her lips. Her butts landed hard on the floor, inches away from the bed.I stood watching, not knowing whether to laugh or not.“Are you just going to stand there and watch me?” Pain clouded her voice.I helped her to her feet. “Sorry. You should be more careful.” “Oh please!” She rolled her eyes. “IYou shouldn't stop yourself from laughing when it's obvious you really want to.”“But—”She waved her hand, hanging it inches away from my face. “Anyways, I'm only here as a messenger.”“Messenger? Did Father send you?”Her head shook vehemently, hands akimbo. “Nahhh! It's someone else and it's a surprise.”“Is it Ryker? What is he up to this time?” I chuckled, a smile forming on my face.Agai
MARK'S POV Cold shivers ran through me. This has to be a dream.Samien surely couldn't have rejected me. I must be hallucinating.“I don't want to be with you,” She muttered, her voice resounding in the air.“Why?” The words slipped through my lips. “We've been mated by the moon goddess, why then don't you want us to be together?”“I'm to be engaged to Ryker and he's the one I want to be with. He's the one my heart has chosen.”“You and I know that's a lie. You're only doing this to save your father's reputation and not because you love him. You couldn't even look into my eyes when I asked you to.”“That's none of your business!!” She snapped. “Like I said, Ryker is who my heart belongs to.”I exhaled, my heart shattering. This was hard. I couldn't accept this, no matter how much I wanted to.“That's fine… you may go on with your engagement.” I stormed off, my eyes burning with tears.I sat in my car, my face buried in my hands. How could I accept this? Samien should have been mine.
MARK'S POV For hours, I remained on the bed, my gaze fixed on the white washed ceiling. My father's ultimatum coupled with the news of Ryker's engagement to Samien echoed in my ears.I still found it hard to believe. No! There's no way those two could be getting married.Absolutely no way.Gosh! How could this be happening? My hands ran through my face as fresh anger coursed through me.So I would lose Samien? The mere thought of it sent shivers down my spine.Tears welled in my eyes. I managed to keep them in check, my hands rubbing hard against the sheets.I grabbed my phone from the table, immediately dialing Ryker's phone. Only him could tell me the truth. The phone rang half a dozen times, then off to voicemail.I tried again. Same thing. Frustrated, I flung the phone away. A long sigh trailed through my lips as I stared into space.Samien?“Why don't you call her?” The voice whispered in my ears. A perfect idea, but only that I didn't have her number.Or perhaps a visit to her
MARK'S POV I was dumbstruck. Speechless. My eyelids batted hard as the scene unfolded before me.No way I was dreaming. Absolutely no way. Bile rose in my throat as I took a few steps backwards. My intuition all these while had been correct. Absolutely correct.Quickly, I rushed off, unable to be
