Chapter 4 - Before the Apocalypse

Lila stood outside, looking at the people going and coming, they didn't know that the world would end tomorrow.

Worst part is, it's almost the end of the month. Many people are already planning how to spend their salary, little did they know that they wouldn't even get the chance to receive it.

She sighed. These days hadn't been easy, she's either bickering with Mimi, packing her things into the house system, or practicing her strength.

She got her strength ability back three days ago. Now she was strong enough to face the level one zombies.

The first zombies to appear were very weak and slow.

Later on they started to evolve and human started gaining abilities too. Abilities like, fire, water, wood, mental, lightning and strength.

In the past she only had super strength. Lightning was the strongest and only two people had it. Next was fire and then water that can later evolve into ice.

It was night now, she was already fully dressed in black pants and shirt. She had a backpack with her as she walked slowly down the street.

Her mission tonight was simple. Hide inside a shopping mall!. She had already picked which one.

Her plan was to clear out the mall before morning. Lila entered the mall like a regular customer and found somewhere to hide.

She didn't even know how much time has passed before everywhere finally quite down and the lights were turned off.

Lila walked out and began to browse the shelf touching the things one after the other, it was much easier now, each item only took her about a minute.

As she worked, her eyes caught the CCTV, and she thought, What if the apocalypse doesn't come? Wouldn't I become wanted? I would probably be sent to a lab to be dissected.

But her hands didn't stop she kept clearing out shelves. After some hours she got tired, as she sat down to rest, she heard Mimi's voice.

“Why not just clear it floor by floor?”

“What do you mean?”

"Rather than touching one shelf at a time why not just clear out the floor at once.”

Is that possible? “Didn't you say I have to touch the items to move them.”

No response.

Lila was in disbelief as she tried to move everything on the floor and it all disappeared.

She gritted her teeth "Mimiiiiiii.” This system has been making her stress over nothing since the beginning.

She quickly moved to other floors and did the same. Lila got to the women section and that was when she remembered what she'd forgotten to buy.

Sanitary pads, tampons, she didn't get a single one. Thankfully she came to clear out this mall today.

It wasn't until she cleared out everything and even the warehouses that she realized that she hadn't left anything for others.

But all this things has been taken by her and she refused to drop anything back.

She looked around the empty shopping mall, even their shelves and counters has been packed up.

As she walked out she conjured a paper and pen from her space and wrote one word “Empty” she stuck it to the entrance of the mall and walked away.

Seeing that she still had time, she went to some pharmacies around and cleaned them up, she did the same for some restaurants too, only leaving the supermarkets so that others will have something too.

She couldn't help but squeal when she saw the resources she had now. It was enough to last her at least three lifetimes.

“I wish I can just live here and not go outside.” Thinking of how she'd have to leave such a luxurious house behind and live in tents and dilapidated houses annoyed her.

“You can live here, the house can be moved outside.”

“Really,” Lila jumped in excitement “how do I do that, tell me quickly.” She didn't dare to call it Mimi this time for fear that it won't tell her or will trick her again.

“Once you've completed half of the puzzle, you'd unlock more buildings and a special reward, which is a tattoo.”

Since when did tattoos become a reward? Lila had the urge to roll her eyes but she heard Mimi's voice again.

“With this tattoo, as long as there's land you can place the house there.”

Wow, such a good tattoo. Anyway she doesn't have to keep those men with her, once she saw the scars she'd abandon them.

Lila laughed loudly, thinking that she's very smart to think of this. Little did she know that she's about to be tricked again.
