The next day, Jessie's phone rang, and she saw that it was Melanie calling.

"What does she want?" she thought, feeling a mixture of annoyance and curiosity. She let the call go to voicemail, not wanting to talk to Melanie right away. A few minutes later, she received a text from Melanie asking to meet for coffee. Jessie hesitated, unsure of what to do. On the one hand, she didn't want to see Melanie, but on the other hand, she was curious about what she wanted to talk about.

Jessie took a deep breath and answered the call.

"What's up, Melanie?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

"I really need to talk to you," Melanie said, her voice desperate.

"It's important. Can we meet for coffee?" Jessie reluctantly agreed, and they set a time and place to meet. As she hung up the phone, she couldn't help but feel uneasy. Melanie's desperation was unsettling, and she had a bad feeling about what she might have to say.
