Damien's POV:It has been a couple of hours since we last spoke to Blade, and I was actually beginning to think that lunch was the best decision I'd made all day.Nyssa sat across from me, and her fingers were intertwined tightly with mine. For once, we could rest, eat and just enjoy each other’s presence. There were no reports scheduled today, no meetings, and no elders arguing over each other. It was just us, and it was amazing.Every time she smiled, my heart did a little jump, and my face reflected hers.I was smiling about a casual remark she made when a short, brisk knock sounded on the door to the dining hall. The entire hall froze, and I frowned. I had specifically ordered the guards outside not to disturb us for any reason, not unless it was very, very important.Nyssa turned to face me with raised brows. She was just as confused as I was.My lips parted, but before I could either Nyssa or I could say anything, the door opened and Blade walked in. Right behind him, was Elena.
Blade’s POV:“Remember,” Blade said with a flat look on his face, “This is a soft lockdown. I am already hearing rumors, from now on, I do not want to hear one more rumor.”He paused for a moment, and glanced around the room full of wolves that he was directly addressing.“In a soft lockdown, no one is supposed to panic, or go into people’s homes and drag them out all because you believe they are suspicious,” Blade’s flat look turned into a frown as he said that, his gaze darting towards a set of wolves who were looking down and frowning, “Remember, everyone here is only supposed to know about the lockdown. If any other wolves know, then that means you have all failed your duty.”Some of the wolves clearly squirmed when he said that, and Blade paused for a long few seconds, making sure they all knew just how serious he meant his words. When he was sure that everyone had gotten the memo, he let out a smile and continued,“You can all leave,” he ordered,"Understood," all the wolves answ
Elena's POV:Over the past couple of weeks, something had begun to change in the pack. Initially, the change was slight, and everyone just thought it was normal, but now, the entire pack could tell that something wasn’t right.Elena walked through the pack with the knowledge that her pack was now filled with multiple individuals filled with so many questions and awareness of things that were once only known to the elders. She had no idea how, but over the past couple of hours, she had heard rumors of there being a traitor in the pack from some of her female friends. None of them clearly believed the rumors, but the fact that the rumors had even begun to spread at all was genuinely concerning. Now, most wolves keep to themselves. No wolf wanted to signal to the world that they were the wolf who always asked questions.Of course, Elena had noticed it too. The guards had become more alert, meetings around the pack now ended faster than they ever did, and now, she was pretty sure that some
Damien’s POV:No matter how hard I tried, I could not stop smiling. Every single time I stared into Nyssa’s eyes, my chest tightened with a happiness that was completely overwhelming. The thought that I was finally going to be a father filled me up with so much joy. My mate was carrying my child. With all that joy in my heart, I leaned closer to her, and kissed her again. When I finally pulled away from her, I kept holding her hand."We're really doing this," I whispered, still shocked, “We are going to be parents,”Nyssa laughed softly. "Apparently, and it’s going to be sooner than we think."A smile spread across my face as I looked down at her stomach. There was nothing to see yet, no bumps. And I was pretty sure that the pregnancy was in it’s early stages because my alpha hearing would have been enough to pick up the heartbeat of the child.Slowly, but surely, my mind had begun to evolve. Now that I was going to be a father, now that I knew there was a life growing within my mate,
Elder Garrick's POV:"Pregnant?" Garrick gasped and looked right at the physician with pure shock in his eyes, “Are you sure?” he asked, and for the first time in his life, he was wishing that he had just been lied to.The physician nodded solemnly, “I checked multiple times, Alpha,” he answered, using Garrick’s appointed title now that they were alone, “And I am as sure as I can be that she is pregnant.”Garrick shook his head, his mind spinning as he began to think about what this news meant for all his plans. The more his mind spun, the more angry he became. Eventually, he decided on a course of action. He was going to make sure that the news of Nyssa’s pregnancy did not spread out, because if it did, then a lot of his supporters would leave.Being traitors was okay. Killing and usurping an alpha was also okay, but in the werewolf world, kids were completely off limits. Most of his most trusted wolves would quietly distance themselves when they knew that Nyssa was pregnant. No one w
The Physician's POV:The moment Luna Nyssa walked out of the clinic, the smile disappeared completely from the face of the physician. He paused for a moment, his mind speeding as he thought of what he should do with the new information that he now had.For the next few minutes, he kept silent and just stared straight at the closed door. She was pregnant. So soon? With all the plans that he and the rebellion had, the thought that this could ever happen had never crossed any of their minds. But the moment he began to examine her, he immediately knew what it was. She was pregnant.Once again, that thought crossed his mind. But instead of being happy like anyone else would have expected, he was pissed. The physician knew that this was news that should be shared. He needed to tell the boss, and he needed to do it immediately. With his mind made up, the physician turned around and walked out of his office, but just as he was about to walk out of the door, someone called out to him,"Doctor?"
By the time I pulled into the parking lot of my apartment, it was pretty clear that the sun was getting ready to set. I killed the engine of my car and sat there for a long moment, my fingers resting on the steering wheel as I took deep long breaths. Then, I exhaled and stepped out of my car.The m
I frowned as I stared into his eyes,Dinner? What was he thinking?Back in the past, I knew he liked me, but we were never an item. Why would he suddenly want to take me out?Damien was not trying to intimidate me like Adrian. But there was a power beneath his calm that was making my senses tingle.
The moment I stepped into my apartment, I let out a sharp exhale. I turned around and closed the door shut behind me. The faint hum of the city faded, but I would have loved for it to still be there. It was a welcome change from the suffocating demands and pressure of the Silver Ridge pack.My pers
The moment those words left my lips, a heavy suffocating silence descended on my room.My mom stared at me with a bewildered expression, as though she had never seen me before.“W—What did you say?” her voice was low and filled with a note of danger.I didn’t look away like she expected, instead I
