Eliana stood frozen, the faded letter trembling in her fingers. The paper looked aged, far older than it should’ve been. Her eyes scanned the signature again—her father’s name. Dated from years ahead. A heartfelt message filled with regret, apology, and cryptic warnings. She didn’t understand how it had ended up in her study drawer now, in the past. All she knew was that it was real.

Her heart pounded, but she forced herself to breathe, folding the letter carefully and locking it away in a personal file.

The next day at work, Richard added Loretta, a quiet and efficient co-worker, to the Horizon project team. Loretta had always been kind in her past life—someone Ivy once ridiculed and pushed aside. Eliana had overlooked her back then, but not this time. Maybe they make something together.

“Are you sure?” Loretta blinked in surprise. “I thought you’d already finalized the team.” Richard gave her a look then glanced towards Eliana.

“I changed my mind,” Eliana replied warmly. “I think you’ll be perfect.”

That small act became the beginning of an unexpected bond. They worked side by side, slowly building trust through long hours, late lunches, and honest conversations. Eliana hadn’t realized how much she missed having a genuine friend. Not like Ivy. She was good, it radiated from within her.

A week later, the high school reunion arrived. Ivy had invited Eliana under the guise of rekindling old memories, but Eliana knew better. In her past life, Ivy had manipulated her into attending in cheap clothing and minimal makeup, only to ridicule her appearance in front of old classmates. She had done it so subtly, Eliana hadn't even been angry at her. It was her classmates who had done the teasing in her stead while she stood and weakly berated them. It was a plot to make her look kind and loving and Eliana look like the spoilt rich brat who was mean to poor people.

But this time, Eliana came prepared. Ivy wouldn't know what hit her.

Loretta helped her prepare, styling her hair and picking out the dress for her. When they were done she gushed.

"ohhhh. Ellie you look like a princess! "

Eliana Only smiled briefly. She was proud of her new self. The woman she was becoming.

She stepped into the event in an emerald satin dress, elegant heels, and a confidence that turned every head. Her hair cascaded in soft waves, that Loretta had helped her pack it and the air shifted the moment she walked in. Whispers followed her, but they weren't mocking. They were admiring. Ivy was already seated, her old classmates stared at her murmuring. But none spoke to her, their self esteem didn't let them.

Ivy's smirk faltered.

“Eliana,” she said, attempting warmth. “I didn't think you’d come.”

“I wouldn’t miss it,” Eliana replied smoothly." you'd always tried to drag me through this things. I decided to honour your request for once. "

Ivy only smiled.

All night, Ivy tried to bait her, throwing subtle jabs, trying to draw blood with gossip and fake laughter. But Eliana, poised and unbothered, turned every interaction around. She was magnetic. People who once looked through her now begged for a moment of her time. Her classmates had told her they didn't know she was this warm. She had always looked so aloof.

"I asked ivy why you were like that, and she told me you were antisocial you didn't like crowd around you. So we kinda left you after that." Maureen, a classmate said looking at her with admiration.

Ivy faltered. "Ellie wasn't really the social type. Right Ellie? She nudged her. Eliana said nothing.

Ivy had planned an ambush—but instead, she was the one left humiliated. It was a start, something bigger was coming.

The reunion ended better than how it started. Ivy left without her , saying she had something to do.

Later that night, back in her room, Eliana kicked off her heels and collapsed onto the bed. For a while, she stared at the ceiling in silence, then drifted off into uneasy sleep.

In the darkness, memories came rushing back. A flashback of Ivy laughing cruelly, Ethan walking away with cold eyes, her mother turning away when she’d needed her the most. Her brothers fight to the last. The cold, sterile hospital room. Her final breath.

“No!” Eliana jerked awake, drenched in sweat. Her chest heaved, heart pounding against her ribcage.

“Eliana.”

A voice.

She blinked and turned to see Fernando, her eldest brother, standing in the doorway. He stepped inside and sat on the edge of her bed, gently brushing her damp hair back.

“I heard you screaming. Are you okay?”

She hesitated, then nodded slowly. “Just a bad dream. I must have slept on the wrong side of the bed. "

He didn’t push. Fernando had always been the quiet protector, and now, more than ever, she was grateful for him.

“There’s someone here to see you,” he said after a pause. “Ivy.”

Her breath caught in her throat.

“Tell her I’m sleeping. I don't want to receive any visitors. And besides it late already."

“She knows you're awake. She said she won't leave until she sees you.”

Eliana sat up, wiping at her face. Her fingers trembled. “Why now?”

Fernando stood shrugging " You are friends, of course she'll come see you. She's a good girl Ellie. "

Eliana nodded, watching him disappear down the hallway. As footsteps echoed toward her room, she steadied herself. This time, she would not be the scared girl in Ivy’s shadow. She would rise again. Ivy had taken over far too much of her life. It was time to claim it back.

And Ethan. She knew he was only insisting on the marriage because of his family. She knew that at this period in her past life his family had been going through some financial challenge. He had used her family wealth to elevate his family even going as far as bringing Ivy into the house.

As from now henceforth she was the queen of her life.

Ivy's footsteps could be heared through the hallways. There was a pause before she knocked and opened the door with a smile that even the blind with voice would hear. The door burst open.

"Hello, beautiful........ "

This was it. The full circle. Ivy had everything Eliana had once possessed: the fiancé, the social standing, the public adoration. The exact life Eliana had walked away from, the one that had led to her demise. The one she had foolishly given up before to give to a man who had only wanted her for what her family could offer him. But Eliana was no longer the naive heiress. She was a different woman, with a different path, and a different kind of power. And now, with Ivy firmly in place, Eliana was free to build her empire, unburdened by the ghosts of her past. Her phone buzzed. It was Damian. She hadn’t spoken to him much since her move, maintaining a distance to avoid suspicion and to allow her plan to unfold. “Eliana,” Damian’s voice, usually calm and composed, was laced with a rare agitation. “Have you seen the news?” “I have,” Eliana replied, her voice steady. “The engagement. It’s quite the spectacle, isn’t it?” “Spectacle? Eliana, it’s a betrayal!” Damian roared, his frustr

A flicker of a memory, sharp and brutal, pierced through her carefully constructed calm. The cold floor, the burning pain in her side, Ethan’s vacant eyes, Ivy’s triumphant sneer. It fueled her, hardening her resolve. This time, there would be no blindness, no surrender. Only calculated moves. The phone buzzed on the coffee table. Eliana glanced at the caller ID: Loretta. A genuine smile touched her lips, a stark contrast to the predatory grin she’d worn moments before. She answered. “Hey, Loretta. How you doing? " "I'm good, what's going on? " Loretta asked. "Guess who came here? Ivy. She just left. " Eliana chuckled. "how did she find you? " Loretta's surprised voice came on. Eliana smiled. "I don't know but I know it wasn't in any way coincidental. She just left though. " “And?” Loretta’s voice, crisp and eager, filled the line. "I tricked her into taking Ethan for herself, I'm done with both of them." Eliana replied. Loretta gasped. " You did no such thing! You're

Ivy’s mouth opened, then closed, her gaze fixed on Eliana’s face, searching for a hint of sarcasm, a flicker of deceit. But Eliana’s expression was one of pure, benevolent concern. “Me?” Ivy finally managed, her voice a thin thread of disbelief. “Yes, you,” Eliana affirmed, her smile widening. “You two have such a wonderful connection. A bond. I’ve always admired it, truly. The way you understand each other, the way you laugh.” She paused, letting the image bloom in Ivy’s mind. “It’s a beautiful thing, Ivy. And I wouldn’t want to stand in the way of true happiness, not for either of you.” A strange light flickered in Ivy’s eyes, a mixture of shock, confusion, and a burgeoning, dangerous hope. “But… you’re engaged.” “I was.." Eliana acknowledged, a theatrical sigh escaping her lips. “But sometimes… love isn’t enough, is it? Sometimes, practicality, and presence, matter more. And I’m not there. I’m here. Chasing my own dreams. It’s selfish, I know.” She lowered her gaze, feign

A soft hum vibrated in Eliana’s throat, a sound of feigned innocence, as she watched Ivy’s perfectly composed facade crack. The question hung, a silent predator in the tastefully furnished living room. Ivy’s eyes, usually bright and calculating, flickered, a momentary loss of control. Her lips, painted a soft rose, pressed together, a thin, almost imperceptible line. “Ethan?” Ivy’s voice, a breathy whisper, barely carried across the space separating them. Her gaze darted around the room, settling on a framed abstract painting, then the polished surface of the coffee table, anywhere but Eliana’s face. “Yes, Ethan,” Eliana’s tone remained light, almost playful, a stark contrast to the coiled anticipation tightening her stomach. “You know, my Ex- fiancé. How’s he been since I left?” Ivy finally met her eyes, a forced smile stretching her lips. “Oh, he’s… fine. Busy, I suppose. You know how he is with the firm.” Her fingers, adorned with delicate silver rings, fidgeted with the hem

She opened the door and let her once best friend in. Ivy breezed in, her face set. Eliana couldn't find her voice for a while. She locked the door and followed Ivy inside. Ivy stood in the middle of the apartment and looked around. The apartment had been tastefully furnished, by Loretta of course, she had no eye for this things. But she was rich and no expense had been spared to make it a luxurious apartment befitting her status as the daughter of a rich man. "Ivy, " she began tentatively. Ivy turned to her sharply. She swallowed, a lot of things had changed ever since she'd been reborn. Things she had no control over, her accident was one, second was Ivy. She didn't know how to remove her from her life. She'd betrayed her, that was known, but after discovering that her new actions in this second life had new consequences she had to take things slow. To give her fate to Ivy, to make her marry her husband."What are you doing here?" she asked calmly, careful not to make an outburst.

  • REBIRTH OF THE FORGOTTEN WIFE    CHAPTER SIXTEEN :

When Eliana woke, the world was a blur of white. A dull, steady beeping filled her ears, and the harsh scent of antiseptic clung to the air. She blinked slowly, wincing at the sharp throb in her head. A hospital. Her fingers twitched against stiff sheets. For a moment, panic seized her—her hands. She turned them over frantically, ignoring the IV taped to her skin. She had breaks in some parts of her body, her head was wrapped in bandages . Trembling, she flexed each finger. They moved. They were stiff, but whole. A sob of relief caught in her throat. “Ellie?” The voice came from her side, ragged, desperate. She turned her head slowly to see Loretta, her hair messy, her eyes swollen as if she hadn’t slept all night. “Oh my God,” Loretta breathed, clutching Eliana’s hand. “You’re awake.” Eliana tried to speak, but her throat felt raw. She swallowed. “What… happened?” Loretta’s grip tightened. “The lights… they fell on you. You’ve got a concussion, a few cuts, but you’re g
