Episode 5

 Nona POV

 I watched as Dove ate her meal till full.

I can't believe she fainted, out of shock.

 

  I even eavedroped on the conversation between Gladys and Dove. I made sure Dove  drank her medicine before leaving the room . Gladys was about to leave.

  "Gladys, don't you think Dove is going to take a drastic decision" I asked.

  "What do you mean?" Gladys asked in return.

  "I eavedroped on the conversation between both of you and I'm scared that she is gonna take a drastic decision"  I poured out.

  "Drastic decision? like what? " she asked out of curiosity.

  "Like ...you know ..to kill " I whispered and Gladys gasped.

  "Nona, do you know what you are saying? , it's not good for an elder to say that" Gladys whispered.

 "I know but I'm just worried about her and I don't want to lose her" I said worried.

  "No , Nona, she won't die after all it's her family we're talking about" Gladys said.

  I sighed as she said that , she is right anyway . Anyone who lose the one they love can take any drastic action.

  "Don't worry, Nona I'll make sure she is fine " Gladys assured me and I smiled.

  What a good child she is! 

  "Uhm.. Nona I need to go now ,Goodbye!" She walked and waved at me . I waved at her back.

  Gladys POV 

I ran out of Nona hut and looked around looking for Dove. I saw her but she was quite far from me, I ran there to catch up with her .

  "Dove "  I called out when I caught up with her. I was panting like a marathon racer.

  Dove just stared at me as I was panting.

 "Are you going to continue panting or I should leave" she said as she folded her arms .

  "Come on, Dove , is that what you are going to say something to someone in need" I pouted.

  "Indeed" She rolled her eyes.

 "You know what , Nona said I should take care of you so now I'm your body guard or you can say nanny" I said , proudly raising my shoulders.

  "I don't look like a Six year old , so I don't need one" she sprawled.

  "Of course, you do, what if you hear another name, faint or perhaps hit your head on a rock?" I said and she glared at me .

"Now, let's go "  I said authouratively , poofing out my chest like a legend. 

  As I walked, people kept looking but I didn't care . Dove walked slowly to me.

  "Alas! ,I have forgotten! " I shouted and Dove flinched.

  "The village chairman said we should come to the meeting ground again to meet the mysterious Mr Rogers" I break the news to her and Dove looked at me wide eyes.

  "Really?" she asked.

 "Yes and you are not coming" I said strictly.

  "I don't want you to faint again, if you faint then I'll leave you" I raised my index finger at her face and close my eyes.

  "When I come from the meeting, I'll tell you what happened" I said.

  "Agreed?" I asked but no answer was heard 

"Agreed?" I asked then I opened my eyes , Dove is not here!

  I saw her running on the road to the meeting ground .

 "Hey!" I yelled and ran after her.

  Dierdre POV

 I ran to the meeting and saw a lot of people there. I snuck my way to the front and Gladys did the same and glared at me but I ignored her.

   We heard a car horn and three black posh cars drove and parked behind us .

   six Security guards came down the car and one of them opened the  black car in the middle.

  An average  man came down the followed by another man almost older than him.

 He wore sunglasses and walked like a king, some people ran to welcome him but the security blocked them to prevent them from touching him.

  A little amount of people didn't welcome him , they are part of those who disagreed about the plan for this Village.

  He walked to the chairman and shook his hands , then they began to talk about what I don't know.

  He removed his sunglass and I wanted to find the opportunity to see his face , although his back was  facing me , I didn't know when my legs began to move by itself , I walked and stopped when I was at the front of him , not near but a little bit far.

  I looked back and stared at his face, his eyes met mine and we stared at each other. I studied his face , hmm.. Sharp jaws, grey eyes , almost half of his hair was white. I broke the eye contact and walked to Gladys who was eyeing one guard .

 She was about to touch his arm when I dragged her away from him then I left her 

  "Oh no!  why did you drag me away from Mr hottie? " she cried out .

  "Which Mr hottie?" I asked , glaring at her.

  "That man there" she pointed out.

  "And what were you trying to do? seduce him?"  I asked, eyeing her.

  "What ? no way , I wanted to feel his big

 arm" she pouted.

  "And by the way , is he not handsome?" she whispered , blushing.

  Silly blonde, for Christ sake she's nineteen !.

   She kept looking at him, blushing, but the man stared at her , his right eye brow raised.

  "Gladys! , Let's go home now" I said authouratively.

  "Wait, let me stare at him one more time"  she pouted but I dragged her 

 I dragged all the way to my house and pushed her to a wooden chair outside my house.

  "Seriously Dove?  Did you have to do that?" she queried and I scoffed.

  "Yes, I had to do that"  I said sarcastically.

  Nona came outside with a sullen face, she was about to fall  when I ran to her and caught her in a flash.

  "Nona !" Gladys called in shock as she stood up.

  I walked Nona to the chair and sat her down.

 

 "Nona, what's wrong?" I asked as I bent down.

  "Dear, the village is giving me worries. It's nothing to be worried about" Nona said , caressing my cheeks.

  "Why Nona ? we don't like this village to change but it will bring benefits for us" Gladys said.

"How sure are you?" I asked Gladys coldly

  "Dear but this place is  where I lived all my life , and it's part of my memories, whenever I look outside, I remember my childhood memories" Nona said and sighed.

  "Those days" she said , her voice cracking . it looked like she was about to cry as tears were building up in her eyes.

  "No, Nona if you cry then I will cry" I said , cleaning her tears.

  Nona sniffed and tried to stop shedding tears but she couldn't.

  "Nona , are you still crying?" I asked

  "you know what I'm going to the city to persuade him , first thing tomorrow" I said.

  I said sharply and rushed to my bedroom and started packing.

"What do you mean by the city?" Gladys asked and walked in fully with a confused look.

"What does it look like I'm doing? making lasagna?" I retorted , still packing.

"No! the city is dangerous. You can't go. You're not just gonna leaving your Nona here" She said.

I stopped whatever I was doing and threw the clothes in the hands on the box.

"I have always wanted to avenge my parents death and now that I have the chance... you want me to not go. How? Why?" I asked perplexed.

"No... I'm not saying that. It's just that.. you leaving the village and everything. it won't just be the same" She said softly.

Ohhhh... she's gonna miss me! 

"Gladys... Nona wants the village to b free and not oppressed by some rich men who barely have a life of their own and in addition to that, my parents. Everything is linked to them. All they ever do is ruin people's happiness. I can't just sit back and watch everything happen" I replied.

"After my parents and baby brother, Nona is next. I took my parents away but I won't let them take Nona" I said and continued packing.

"Dove!" she called

"Yes?" I answered

"Can I maybe... perhaps... come with?" she asked.

"No. The city is dangerous.. and this is my battle to fight. I can't let you suffer for anything" I stated.

"Awwwwn... that's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me" She pouted.

"Are you kidding me?" I asked in amazement.

"I wanna come Dove!" She sang.

"Ok fine but on one condition!"

"you'll call me Dierdre" 

"Yes okay" She replied and started jubilation.

"Go... go pack your bags. We are leaving as early as possible tomorrow"
