 Episode 7

  Gladys POV

We are currently having dinner with Ryan and his mom. Geez, I'm finding it hard to make use of these cutleries. I wish I was like Dierdre, she can use it and here I am glaring at the food and cutleries.

  It doesn't matter if I make use of my hands ,i scooped some spaghetti in my hands , and ate it. I began rushing the food like a hungry lion.

  I just finished my food and burped, everyone around looked at me with a shocked expression except Dierdre , who had just finished her food and left quietly.

  "Humm.. excuse me " I said as I stood up and was about to leave.

  "And thank you for the food" I said , then I left the dinning room.

  I went upstairs and met Dierdre, looking out through the window , then she closed her eyes and spoke in hushed voice.

  I could not hear her speaking , because I am standing at the door. God, this is scary. I read her lips , and the only words I could read was 'I am sorry, mom , I'll avenge your death alongside Dad and Kevin' . Good lord !, what is she saying?

 Oh no! Nona was right.

* like... you know..to kill* , I need to do something to distract her. I tip-toed to her .

  "Dierdre!!" I whispered-yelled and she jerked thereby hitting her head on the window edges.

  "Are you kidding me?!" She asked as she glared at me and rubbed her head.

  "What were you doing? " I asked .

  "Nothing" she said and walked to the bed then sat down on it.

  "What do you mean by Nothing? , You were speaking to yourself, are you a Ghost or some sort of scary Anna , the doll?" I retorted.

   "What sort of silly question is that?" she asked .

  "do not answer my question with a question , young lad" I ranted.

  "You know what, I shouldn't have agreed to let us go together to the city, I should have gone alone" she blasted.

  "so what? is it my fault?, i followed you here because Nona was scared of one thing, your so called thirst for revenge" i said.

  "She used to hear your whispers every night , you always whispers the words 'revenge' every minutes" I added.

 Dierdre stared at me and scoffed .

  "So what?, she doesn't want the village to be bought by some arrogant rich old baldie?  " I retorted.

    "Because she cares about you , cares about your future and she also cares about mine. She saved you from drowning in the river, when you were little and brought you up with the little money she had!, you think that she was nurturing you all these years for a vengeful being..No! . She did all that because she knew that something good will come out of you not to  come back to the city and do whatever you like,join  bad gangs and plot revenge against inno..." I wanted to finish when Dierdre stood up.

  "Shut up!!,Watch your mouth,you douchebag! Do you think it is easy ? ...Huh ..tell me, Do you think it is easy after losing my family  ? The so called innocents were the ones that took my world, happiness , joy and everything I cherished the most! , I want to take out my anger on them , I want to show them that the last Rivera is not dead , I want to let them know they messed with the wrong people" Dierdre yelled , her voice cracking, lips trembling and eyes are red from tears.

  She sighed and sat down.

  "In all my life , I never thought I'll hurt another person with words and I have always hated the night that was calm and cool like this" she said softly and tears began to fall from my eyes.

  This is was the first time she ever yelled at me , the first time I felt hurt by her.

  "Dierdre , you are scared and afraid to fight by yourself, you need someone to fight with you,be with you and support you" I said.

  " I need space ,Gladys" she said.

 " But.."

  "I said , I . need . space" she said coldly.

  I sniffed and sat on the chair far from the bed she was sitting on.

  She slept off on the bed while I cried and cried till darkness took over me.

  

  Officer James POV

"What sort of nonsense are you telling me? , I gave you a job to do and you are not giving me any feedback, Huh.. why are you so incompetent?!" My boss fired and I flinched.

  "Actually sir, we are getting close to finding evidence?" I jibed.

  "That's what I'm getting tired of hearing!" He said.

  " Sir, you know it's not easy to find evidences against those politicians , they're very smart and a lot of people are under their nose,it would take a lot of time find evidences from reliable sources  and..." I wanted to finish.

  "And what? A politician may be smart but we're smarter than them, we could grab their tails and use them to find evidences or don't you know what is meant by tails?!" He fired.

  "Accomplices" I answered plainly.

  "Yes!  that's is it" He said .

  "But you are wrong sir, it's not just tails but tail , you're aware that they can't be caught without the help of government "

  I explained.

  "You know what I don't need your annoying usual feedback like 'we're still on  it ' and Your explanation and I give you two months ultimatum,  I repeat two months ultimatum to bring this politicians to book by finding evidences against them, and by doing that " He paused.

  "There would be opportunity for your promotion or don't you want to be promoted?" He asked , intimidating me under his eyes.

  "Um.. first of all sir and with due respect, I don't look like polices who thinks by bringing criminals to book will bring such opportunity and I may not feel the wanting of being promoted" i said staring at him , my eyes fixed perfectly on his own.

  " I'm on my own , being promoted may be accepted or rejected by me , other officers can be promoted as they like" I added.

    "Don't be like you don't need it, many polices are lucky to receive such opportunities" He said.

  "And I'm not them Sir" I said .

  I saluted him and turned to leave but I stopped.

  "The two months ultimatum challenge , you gave me , I'm going to win it " With that I left , ignoring his harsh gaze on my head.

   I left his office and breathe out , never knew I held my breath in his presence.

  Geez! that man is scary.

  I walked to my office and sat down. I took my coffee and drank and was about to work on my computer when Yna barged in and I choked on the coffee

  "Guess ya choked up in his office"  Yna , my partner said.

 She's not an American , she's from the Philippines , majorly a filippino .

 "Why  are you staring at me like that?" she asked.

  "I'm wondering if you bang your head against something hard" I said and she glared at me.

  "Why ya saying that?" She asked.

  "How many times did I tell you knock on the door? and Where did you learn badass English from?" I asked.

  "Hundred times and Anywhere" she said plainly.

  "Like?" 

  "clubs, schools and others" 

  "So you go clubbin?" 

  "Yeah I do but you don't" 

  "Clubbin is the last thing ony bucket list" I said and she chuckled.

 "When will you forget the past including that girl?" she asked.

  "Don't remind me of that before I lose my cool" I said coldly.

  "Why can't you look at me?" she said.

"Yna, Get out " I said coldly

"Sheesh, sorry" she cooed and left.

  I focused on my computer and began working.
