Chapter 4: Rejected

Damian watched as she stood up and straightened herself. Her clothes were dirty and she had mud all over her face. She looked at him in fear.

“ No. No. No. Please don't come any closer” she chanted as she took unsteady steps backwards.

Damian did not understand. Why was she afraid of him. He took a few steps towards her.

“ It's okay. I won't hurt you” he said to her as he approached her cautiously but she shook her head and broke into a run.

Damian cursed inwardly as he ran after her. He knew she was not a wolf. He could easily outrun her.

Marissa cursed her luck as she ran. How could her mate be a werewolf not just any werewolf, an alpha.

Looks like fate was playing games with her. Her kind and werewolves were known to be enemies. There was no way she was going to accept such a union. She needed to get far away from him.

She smiled in relief when she saw the main road ahead of her but the smile quickly left her face when she was dragged by the waist and her body collided with a solid chest.

Her nose was immediately filled with the scent of the forest on a rainy day. Sparks erupted where their body met.

Marissa looked up as she struggled to free herself from the hold but strong hands held her captive.

“ No. Let me go. Please!” she shouted as she hit his chest repeatedly but he just stood there unfazed and refused to let her go.

Marissa contemplated using her magic on him but decided against it as it will leave her weak and vulnerable afterwards.

Her strength was failing her and she was beginning to lose consciousness.

“ Please. Let me go” she said one last time as she slumped against him unconscious.

Damian looked at the beauty in his arms. He still couldn't believe that he had found his mate and she was so beautiful.

He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and caressed her face.

“ Let me see” said Dark as he came forward.

“ She is gorgeous” said Dark as he looked at her in awe.

“ Yes, she is” replied Damian.

He gathered her in his arms and walked towards his pack. He couldn't wait to tell his parents the good news.

“ But she is scared of us” he said to Dark.

“ I don't care. She is ours and she is not going anywhere” replied Dark.

Anyan walked to the pool that was located inside her shrine. The pool was an ancient pool that allows one to see the past, present and future.

The pool also has healing properties. Ayan looked at the water as it shimmered.

She closed her eyes has dipped her hands into the water then she started chanting. The water began to glow and soon, a bright blue light shot out from the pool then the blue light disappeared and she opened her eyes and looked into the pool.

She saw a great battle and a field filled with dead bodies. The field was painted red with blood.She gasped as she opened her eyes.

She knew the spirits were trying to tell her something and that the vision is not yet finished. She needed to know more but she knew that it will come to her when the time comes.

Damian looked at the woman sleeping on his bed one more time before he left the room. He has already called his parents into his office.

He sat down and faced them.

“ What is it son?” asked his father. Damian cleared his throat before speaking.

“ I found my mate” he said to them. His voice held excitement as he said it.

“That is great darling. Where is she? I want to see her” said his mother excitedly.

“ She is in my room sleeping” he replied to her.

“ What pack is she from?” asked his father.

“ She is not a werewolf dad” replied Damian. There was silence immediately he said it.

“ What is she then?” asked his mother.

“ I don't know yet” replied Damian.

“ Maybe she is a vampire” said his father. Damian shook his head.

“ No. She is not a vampire either” he replied to his father.

“ We will know when she wakes up. No need to worry about it. Why she is sleeping?” asked his mother. Damian sighed before answering her.

“ She passed out in my arms” he replied.

“ What did you do to her? You scared her didn't you?” asked his mother accusingly. Damian raised his hands in surrender.

“ I did not do anything to her” he said defensively.

“ Okay. Okay. What about the alpha meeting?” asked his father.

“ I am about leaving now. Please look after my mate” he said to them as the three of them walked out of the office together.

The demon king stood and watched as his men trained. They all went on their knees immediately he entered the field.

“ Your majesty” greeted a man. He had a scar on the left side of his face. The scar ran from the right side of his face to his chin. His name was Matthias and he was incharge of the king’s men.

“ Any progress?” asked the king as he turned and started walking. They have been trying to locate the witch that escaped when they were on the road. The king was furious when he heard about what happened.

“ The wolves are fools. How could they let her escape?” he asked angrily. Mathias knelt down immediately.

“ I am sorry my king. I should have sent some of our men with them. It is my fault” he apologised.

“ Tell me, do you know about nature witches?” asked Zedikiah.

“ Yes your majesty” answered Mathias.

“ So tell me what you know” said king Zedikiah.

“ Nature witches are extremely rare and powerful. They are said to be blessed with powers beyond human imagination. They can raise or pull down kingdoms” replied Mathias.

“Very good. Please do continue” said king Zedikiah as he sat down on the chair that was placed down for him.

Two guards went to stand at his sides. The seat overlooked the field and he could get a good look at the soldiers while they trained.

“The last nature witch was last seen a century ago. It is said that anyone who marries a nature witch will rule the world” said Mathias as he finished speaking.

“ Although not many people know about them. They are thought to be myths and we almost had her but you let her slip through your fingers” said king Zedikiah.

His voice was calm but his eyes were filled with anger. The clouds became dark and stormy and there was a great wind.

The leaves on the trees began to rustle. The men immediately knelt down and bowed their heads.

“ Please my king. Have mercy” pleaded Mathias.

King Zedikiah stood up. The storm stopped and the clouds became clear immediately.

“ I want that girl. I don't care how you do it. Bring her to me” said king Zedikiah before walking away.

Damian smiled as he remembered the beauty that was lying on his bed. He couldn't wait to finish the meeting so that he could go and see her.

He looked at the alphas and vampire lords sitting across from him.

“ I thought this meeting is for the alphas only?” he asked alpha Raya as he turned to her. She was sitting close to him.

“ So we all thought. Let's hear what they have to say” replied alpha Raya.

Sitting across from them was lord Elias and lord Robert. They were both vampire lords of the two most powerful vampire covens in the supernatural world. The seat close to them was empty. It was the seat meant for the representative of the witches. Alpha Israel cleared his throat and addressed them.

“Brothers and sister” he said as he looked in the direction of Raya before he continued. She rolled her eyes.

“ Welcome to this month's security meeting” he said to them.

“ Why are we here?” asked lord Robert.

“ I am sure you are aware of what has been happening in the supernatural world?” asked alpha Israel.

“ Yes. Wolves are being killed. How is that our business?” asked lord Elias.

“ Well, very soon what ever is killing the wolves will decide to start killing vampires. So, it is your business” replied alpha Raya as she looked at him. Lord Robert snorted.

“ Now we have received news that they are kidnapping young female witches between the ages of nineteen and twenty- five. All of them with red hair” said Damian.

“ We thought at the beginning that the killings of wolves were related to the witches but now we know it is not” said alpha Israel.

“And how do you know that it is not related to them?” asked lord Robert.

“The witches have been hiding for years because they are being persecuted. Do you really think they will be willing to risk their lives and offend the wolves?” asked alpha Kendrick. He had been silent since the meeting began.

“ Exactly. Because they have been persecuted for years that is why it is most likely them. Maybe they want to retaliate. You know, for all the years of brutality against them” said lord Elias.

“ They are not the ones responsible” said Damian. He was sick of these senseless bloodsuckers.

“ How are you so sure?” asked lord Robert.

“ Because we have been to the council and the elders told us the one responsible” said alpha Raya.

“ So what did they say?” asked lord Elias.

“ They said that a dark lord is responsible for it and that a war is coming” replied alpha Israel.

“ A dark lord. Who might that be?” asked lord Elias.

“ We don't know yet” replied Damian.

“ It is the demon king” replied alpha Kendrick.Everyone was shocked.

“The demon king?. How?” asked lord Robert.

“ The demons were driven from the supernatural world ages ago and a peace treaty was signed between the council and them. So why are they attacking wolves now?” asked alpha Raya.

“ Well that is what we don't know yet” replied alpha Israel.

“ So, what has that got to do with the missing witches? Witches have been persecuted for ages, what do we care if a few of them are being kidnapped?” asked lord Elias.

“ We wouldn't be so concerned if there wasn't a pattern” said Damian.

“ Pattern? What do you mean?” asked lord Robert.Alpha Raya sighed.

“ Didn't you hear everything we just said?” she asked them irritated.

“ Yes we heard you. Female witches within the ages of ninteen and twenty five with red hair are being kidnapped. I ask again, what has that got to do with us?” asked lord Robert.

Raya pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. She couldn't believe these people were lords of covens. They are so stupid. She thought.

“ Why are they only kidnapping witches with red hair? Why not old women and men? Why young witches?” asked Damian.

There was silence as everyone was thinking.

“ We have to find out why. I think whatever is happening with the wolves is related to the kidnapping of witches” said alpha Kendrick.

“ Okay. We understand. Each of us will do investigations then we will come back here to discuss our findings” said lord Elias.

“ When will the next meeting be?” asked Damian.

“ How about two weeks time. That way, everyone will have enough time to gather information” replied alpha Israel.

Everyone agreed.

“ Okay, that is settled. See you then” said alpha Raya.

Marissa opened her eyes and quickly shut it. The light that was coming from outside was irritating to her eyes.

“ Oh dear, i am sorry” said a female voice.

Marissa heard the sound of curtains closing. She opened her eyes slowly and focused on the woman in front of her.

She had blond hair and blue eyes and seemed to be in her fifties. She was very beautiful. The woman smiled kindly at her.

“ Hi” said the woman.

Marissa tried to get up. The woman hurried to her side and helped her sit up then she arranged the pillows behind her.

She poured water into a glass cup from a jug that was on the bedside table and gently brought it to her lips.

Marissa welcomed the coldness of the water as she quenched her thirst.

“ Thank you” she said to the woman as she returned the cup back to her.

“ You are welcome dear” replied the woman as she kept the cup on the bedside table.

“ Where am I?” she asked the woman warily as she looked around.

“ You are in my pack, silver moon pack. My name is Sonia Oak. I am the Luna” replied Sonia.

Marissa was silent as she looked down at her hands that was on her lap. Sonia looked at the beauty in front of her.

She was indeed very beautiful. Her long brown hair fell in rich waves down her back. Her skin was clear and flawless, her nose was straight and pointed, her lips were full and plump.

She had big green eyes and long lashes. Her son was so lucky to have such a beautiful mate.

“ May I know your name?” asked Sonia but there was no reply from the girl.

Marissa removed the duvet from her body and climbed down from the bed.

She wondered where her mate was, well it was good that he was not around unless she might have a hard time leaving.

She started walking towards the door.

“ Where are you going?” asked Sonia.

“ I am leaving. Thank you for your hospitality luna Sonia” replied Marissa as she opened the door.

“You can't leave. This is your home now” said Sonia wide eyed as she followed Marissa out.

Marissa kept silent. She walked downstairs but was stopped by two men by the door. They bowed down but said nothing and refused to let her pass.

“ Hey, let me go” she said as she tried to get passed them.

“ You have to wait for your mate to come. You can't just leave” said Sonia.

Marissa sighed. She needed to tell her that she did not want to be mates with her son.

She turned to her and was about opening her mouth when she was hit by the scent of the forest on a rainy day.

Her heart jolted from her chest. No! No!. Not now thought Marissa.

“ What is going on?” asked Damian.

Marissa took a deep breath and turned to face him. The guards walked away from the door and Marissa walked to him and tried to walk pass him but he took hold of her hand.

“ I am leaving” said Marissa.

“ No you are not” replied Damian as he dragged her inside. He took her into his office and closed the door.

“ What do you want?” asked Marissa as she folded her hands on her chest.

Damian went to sit down.

“ Please take your seat” he said.

“ Thank you but no. Why am I here?” she asked him again.

“ My name is Damian Oak. May I know your name?” he asked her.

“ No” Marissa replied curtly.

Damian sighed.

“ We are mates. You know that right?” asked Damian.Marissa said nothing and walked out of the room. Damian followed her outside.

“ Where are you going?.” he asked her.

Marissa turned and looked him in his eyes and uttered the words that has been on the tip of her tongue since she saw him standing there.

“ I Marissa Jordan reject you alpha Damian Oak as my mate” she said to him confidently.

Damian smirked.
