SEBASTIAN
Athena's eyes searched mine with a question. I could tell she genuinely hoped for an answer.... ....but it was an answer I couldn't give. "No one does on my watch," I said calmly, keeping my voice neutral. "I am the Alpha of these lands. It'll be a poor look on my reputation if a guest and an someone under my employ, gets killed right under my nose." "Contracted," she said. I cocked an eyebrow at that. "What?" "I was contracted, not employed," she corrected. "I don't work for you, I work with you and your Luna. Which by the way, reminds me. Leave my house." I blinked at that. "What?" "You heard me, Alpha," she bowed, but I only saw it as what it was. Mockery. "Respectfully, leave my house, oh venerable Alpha." "Is that really necessary?" I sighed. It was quite annoying but I couldn't bring myself to be mad at her. It seemed comical. "Please leave," she sighed as well. Her tone turning serious. "Thank you for saving my life but I'll need to be alone to rest." "You need someone to look after you," I insisted. She cocked an eyebrow at that. "And you are that someone?" She asked. "Is the almighty Alpha, Sebastian Stone, Alpha of the Black Moon Pack, become my caretaker?" I gave her a blank stare for her sarcasm. "I'll be here until someone comes." "Forget it," she shook her head. "Let's be clear on one thing, Alpha. I am not a member of the Black Moon Pack. You are not my Alpha, and you do not command me." "Athena-" "We're not on first name basis, Alpha," she cut me off. "You can call me Montgomery." "That's a mouthful," I frowned as I said without much thought. She glared at me with indignation and I could immediately tell where I went wrong. "With all due respect, Alpha," she said coldly as her eyes bored into me. "If my name is such a mouthful, I'll hope that you will refrain from talking to me in the future. I'm experienced enough to do a great job even without your input. "No, Ath-" Her glare intensified. "Montgomery," I sighed. "You do realise that I am still the Alpha of Black Moon, right?" She said nothing in response and I was in no mood to provoke an answer. Even still, I couldn't oblige to her request. She still lived alone and there was the risk that she could get hurt any time of the day, making it impossible to even leave her alone for at least a whole month. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole month's worth of free time. This is already stretching my limits on free time as well. "What do you think about living in my mansion for now, Athena?" I asked calmly as I considered possible solutions to the dilemma. She physically recoiled so far away from me that I couldn't help but feel offended. "What in the name of the goddess is wrong with you, Athena?" I hissed. "For the Goddess' sake, get a grip of your emotions and understand that your life is in danger." "Living with you is a danger in itself," she retorted. "And I swore to never step a foot in that cursed place, at least not as its occupant. I don't intend to go back on my word, now or ever." "You almost died!" I hissed. "For all we know, I could take a step out of here and you'll be having an assassin crawling up your window to slit your throat! Why can't you understand that?!" Firm, steady eyes met mine, her will set in stone. "Maybe because I'd rather die that go back to that home where you rejected me and drove me to the point of me stepping out myself. I will not take that step back in." I glared at her for a few seconds mainly out of frustration than anger. I was frustrated that she was so adamant that she wouldn't see reason and understand that her life should come before her pride. Most of all though... I was frustrated at myself. For letting it come to this. I've had the option to choose her. To protect her. I chose wrong. Now, she won't even let me choose her anymore. "Then, I'm not leaving," I said stubbornly as I leaned back, resting my back on the wall. "If you are going to be stubborn about putting yourself in danger, I'm going to be stubborn about keeping you out of it. Regardless of what you say. Unless, you can of course, force me out." My eyes glowed in emphasis to the statement. It was both a declaration and a threat. Unless she was ready to defeat me in a fight, I wasn't leaving her side. She scoffed as she looked away and picked her phone. She sent a series of quick texts and then turned back to me. "I'll need you out anyways," she smiled. "I'm having a roommate move in." I cocked an eyebrow. "Really?" She nodded as she went back to typing on her phone. "And I just asked for some protection as well. That will be enough to get you out of my house, right?" I stared at her for a few seconds. "You make me sound like an invader." She gave me a pointed look and then turned back to her phone. "I'd rather have died than have you save me, Alpha Sebastian." She said those words casually, almost as if they were normal conversational anecdotes, but they cut deeper than almost anything else she had told me. There was a ring of the doorbell. "My roommate is here," Athena smiled. "I will not let you live with a man," I warned, my eyes glowing. She once again gave me a pointed look. "You are-" "I won't," I warned again. There was a knock on the door and she smiled as the door opened. Her attendant hurried inside with a worried expression. "What happened, Luna?!" I breathed a sigh of relief.SEBASTIAN I took a deep breath as I accepted what Athena had just said. "You're right," I muttered. "What are you saying?" Sienna touched me gently, obviously unable to accept what was happening now. "Athena is right," I told her carefully. "The enemy right now isn't Alpha Timothy. The real enemies are the ones against him. I can only find out who they are once I deal with them myself." "But you already refused to attend the feast. It won't make sense if you suddenly chose to attend. It might..." Sienna was saying, trying to dissuade me. "You can't change my mind," I replied. I turned towards Nathan, "Inform Alpha Timothy that I'll attend the feast!" "Yes, Alpha!" Nathan answered and walked out of the room. I turned towards Athena now. She didn't look excited as I predicted. "You should go to the feast with Sienna. I will go to the women's wing now, Alpha," Athena bowed slightly and walked out as well, leaving Sienna and I alone. I could feel the coldness now. Something must h
ATHENA I stood by as I watched Sebastian and Sienna get into the SUV and drove off. At that point, I must have realized that I was nothing special. I began to regret coming along in the first place. That was pathetic.Nathan came by now, "I will escort you myself, Miss." "You should have gone with Sebastian," I pointed out. "I have Bella and George with me." "It's Alpha Sebastian's order, Miss. I will escort you personally. Would you follow me, please?" I nodded as I was escorted into a car. George drove and even though he didn't know his way around the Howler pack, he had no problem. All he had to do was follow the convoy. Bella and I were in the back seats while George and Nathan took the front seats. We drove in silence until George began to play a popular song which Bella happily sang along with. "You must be so excited," I muttered. "Aren't you too?" Bella asked, staring at me."I don't know," I sighed. Truthfully, I have mixed feelings now. I had observed that I was unnece
SEBASTIAN Sienna looked nervous, that was obviously because of my presence. I stared at her and she averted my gaze. I held her chin and made her look into my eyes.“Do you want to go that badly?” I asked her firmly.Sienna nodded.“If I get killed, you will get killed as well since you are my mate-to-be. Do you know that?” I asked her again.“I know,” Sienna smiled. “I also know you won’t get killed. There is no one in the world that can kill you.”“That’s a lie,” I corrected her almost immediately. “Everyone in this world including me can be killed. As long as we all bleed out when cut, that is the reality.”“Harsh reality, perhaps,” Sienna muttered.“It isn’t harsh,” I replied. “In fact, it is nature’s way of keeping everything balanced. Death isn’t the harsh punishment, immortality is.”I began to walk away now until I heard Sienna call out.“Will I be going with you?” She shouted.I turned, “Get prepared. We will leave by this time tomorrow.”**I was confused. I was going to b
SIENNAI grabbed Athena’s hair angrily, unable to control myself. She was so annoying and confident at it.“Bitch!” I screamed, pulling her towards myself. Athena grabbed my hair too and I began to scream again, this time out of physical pain. Rachel, my assistant, was nearby so she ran towards us and separated us. I knew I was the center of attraction right now.Athena hissed and ran out of the restaurant while I remained, panting.“You shouldn’t be doing this…” Rachel told me gently. “This is a public space. What if someone takes a video and posts it on social media?”“It is your job to manage that!” I told her angrily. As I was about to storm out of the restaurant, the waiter appeared in front of me.“Sorry but…” he began. “Your partner ordered a bottle of water. She has left so you have to pay.”“My partner?” I asked before I realized that he meant Athena. I clenched my fists angrily, not because of the price but because she had the guts to have me pay for what she drank. I pointe
Athena’s POVI didn’t know why I was doing this too. I knew I would be putting my life in danger unnecessarily. However, one thing I knew was that I felt like doing it and I would never back down no matter what.“You have no reason to do this for me,” Sebastian told me. “No, I choose to disallow you from doing this for me.”I could tell that he felt burdened by this. I had to take another approach if I really wanted to go with me.“Who said I was doing it for you?” I began to laugh mockingly. “Then what are you doing it for?” Sebastian questioned.“I have to meet a few clients of mine at the Howler pack. I thought it would be better if I went with you. You will have your private airplane, won’t you? I can just go with you instead of having to board a public plane,” I explained. This was a big lie but I would do more than lie as long as I could go with him.“You sound suspicious…” Sebastian muttered. I laughed even louder, knowing that would help me outsmart him.“I was just looking f
SEBASTIANI stood up furiously, unable to accept what I just heard. An ambassador of my pack had never been killed before. This was the first and I was determined to make sure it was the last. I clenched my fists as I paced around the room, thinking about what should be done. Since I was standing, all the ministers were on their feet too. Sitting while the Alpha was standing was considered a form of disrespect.I turned to my new Beta, I had an idea.“Beta Ezekiel!” I called.“Yes, Alpha,” he replied immediately.“I believe you want me to consult you more often on matters. You hinted that earlier,” I said carefully.“I didn’t mean it in a bad way, Alpha,” Beta Ezekiel replied. “As your Beta, it is my duty to assist you with every process. If you talk to me about issues, I can suggest solutions and even help with the implementation.”“You sound too technical,” I replied. “What university did you attend?”“Nightwalker National University,” he replied. “I was so intelligent that I receiv
