LOGINATHENA
I could see the relief in Sebastian's features as he stared at Bella. I just couldn't understand why. Why would he care who I live with? Why would he even bother saving me? My presence must be dampening the mood of his coming mating ceremony, so why does he care? Bella rushed to my side as she checked my wounds which were already healing. "I've contacted a security company and they're sending a few of their best over here right now. What happened to you, ma'am?" "Nothing much," I forced a smile. "Just had a little altercation." "She almost got assassinated," Sebastian said from his corner, earning himself a sharp glare from me, while Bella's eyes widened to the size of saucers. "By the goddess, what?!" "It's nothing, Bella," I replied and then glared at him again as I spoke through gritted teeth. "It was taken care of before anything serious happened." There was a faint hint of amusement in his eyes as he met mine. When he opened his mouth to speak again, I knew he was about to make things worse. "She was almost choked unconscious by the time I got there," he said calmly. "A few more seconds and she would have been killed." Bella had gone pale at the sound of that and I gave in to my urge to facepalm. "Bella, he's exaggerating." "You can check her neck," he countered. "Who would do something like that to you?" Bella asked, horrified. Sebastian frowned at that, his mind obviously trying to figure that out too. I had a pretty solid idea of who it was, but I doubted Sebastian would approve of it so I kept that to myself. "Probably your competition," he eventually said. "Ever since your emergence as a company, most high profile, luxury jewelers have been relegated to the conveniently affluent niche of society. Those who are still rich and influential, but not enough to control the city like I and a few others do. All of the top 1% of society have deferred to you for your creativity and ingenuity. Since you're the sole source of the designs, at least that's what your company says, they'll think taking you out should declare your company quite easily." I mulled it over and he was right. They in fact, could do that. Somehow though, I don't think they did. It was just a hunch but I couldn't possibly blame anyone with just a hunch to go by. With a sigh, Sebastian pushed off the wall he was leaning on, and stood at his towering height of 6'5". "Well, you're safe for now, but I'll be here until your guards get here. I can't leave two ladies home alone, especially when one was almost assassinated." I fixed him with a glare, but I couldn't argue. "Bella, you will live here with me from now on," I sighed as I allowed myself to lay back in bed. "Of course," Bella said with no hesitation. "I can't let you live here alone even if you hadn't asked." "Thank you," I gave her a small smile and then turned to Sebastian. "If you don't mind, I would like some privacy. You can stay until security comes, just not in my room." Those green eyes searched mine for a few seconds before he nodded and turned to leave. "If you need my help, just scream at the top of your lungs." With that, he opened the door and walked out, closing it behind with gently. Once he was out, I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding. Bella's eyes observed me for a few seconds before she turned to the door. "You don't seem too grateful to the Alpha for saving your life, ma'am." "I am," I said as I laid back down. "I just don't need to tell him that." She seemed puzzled at that. "Do you have history with the Alpha prior to now?" I chuckled at that. "That's a story I am neither willing nor in any condition to tell." She nodded, acknowledging my words. That was one of my favourite things about Bella. She was a curious lady but she never let her curiosity lead her. She always had a grip on her emotions, only letting them out when she's comfortable enough to do so. It was almost like me. Being four years younger than me, at twenty four, Bella had proven to be a much more capable companion when compared to her most other older and more experienced counterparts. "I'll get you something to eat," she suggested as she stood up to leave, but I held her back. "I don't need to eat now," I said calmly. "Just stay here." Bella gave me a puzzled look once again but said nothing in response. Once she settled down, I closed my eyes and relaxed. My mind was all over the plance as I tried making sense of the events that transpired earlier. What were the odds that I was wrong? I've always known Sienna to be a little unhinged, but no one else seems to have noticed that except me. Maybe it was valid that my competitors ordered this hit to kill me but my gut was telling me that this wasn't that. My home was a well guarded secret known only to a very few, some of which include Sienna. Also, I am under Sebastian's protection as his mate's personal jeweler for the mating ceremony. Definitely my competition aren't stupid or desperate enough to want to cross arguably the strongest Alpha in the city and a ruthless one at that. They would still be worried about the repercussions of an intensive investigation launched into the proceedings. In all honesty, I can't see them being the ones who ordered the hit. My best guess would be someone bold and desperate enough to throw caution to the wind. That suited Sienna more than it did anyone else. I could say it with certainty even though I couldn't tell anyone. Sienna tried to kill me.SEBASTIANI Will Do Anything To Save Her“Lucas? Have you found anything yet?” I yelled across the hall.“Nope, nope. Nothing on my end. Anything on yours?”We had been inside the castle now for a good half hour, but we had not yet had any breakthrough of any sort. I had not even caught a flicker of Athena's scent, talk more of catching sight of her or anything that belonged to her on the night.“No, not yet,” I replied to Lucas. But then, a scent caught the top of my nose. “Wait a minute.”“What? You found something?” Lucas asked.“Yeah, I think I have. I've got this familiar scent. It is weak, so I do not precisely know where it is coming from. But I am going to try and follow it nonetheless.”“Is it Athena's?”“It is a very faint scent, Lucas. I do not think I can deduce if it belongs to Athena with sample sizes this low.”“Well, fine then. Find its source so we can know what we are dealing with.”Soon, the scent led us across the hall and into another room. I tried to open the doo
SEBASTIANAthena Is Missing!Music. Rhythm. This steps to the left and right. And feeling the what of Sienna's body against mine, feeling her every breath clatter against the hairs in my partly bare chest. All was good, great even. I mean, there were still personal, internal, powerful doubts about Sienna and my feelings for her. But at least having these kinds of moments with her were incredibly nice, and maybe it was even helping me be more decisive. In these moments, she was not being a bitchy woman to any one around her. She was more homely, less antagonistic, things that I loved. But a bitter, grey blanket still hung over this moment, as beautiful as it was. It was Athena, every thought of her tugged at me like a spike painted in bitter, black paint. And that was not the worst part. The worst part was that no matter what I did, no matter how much I tried to immerse myself in the present moment, I just could not get my mind off her. Every thought of her was just too persistent that
SEBASTIANHer Absence Keeps Being An Issue“What is that supposed to mean, Sebastian? I thought you had asked me this before?” “Yes, and I am asking you again. Where is she? You were the last person I saw her with.”“I do not know, Sebastian. I already told you where I left her and where she was headed at the time. So I really wonder what all these antics of yours are for. You care for that woman too much. For someone who says she is his ex wife and that he has moved on from her, she occupies your mind an awful lot.”“Do not even begin with this, Sienna. You are doing that thing where you try to emotionally blackmail me again.”“I have not done anything except to tell you the truth, Sebastian. But of course, it is not meant to be soothing. After all, the truth, they say, is bitter, is it not? You care for Athena too much. Forget her. She is doing ok, let's enjoy the moment instead, enjoy it with me.” Sienna clutched my body even more, probably in an attempt to immerse me in the moment
SEBASTIANA DanceSiena's laughs were uneven and unusually paced. “What do you mean ‘drugged her?’ Is that meant to be a joke or what?”“Yes, Sienna, it was meant to be a joke. But of course, you take things too seriously.”“Well, whatever. Athena followed me when I went to the garden by the corner of the house.”“What? Why did you go there? And by this time of the night too? When its beauty is covered by blanketing absoluteness darkness”“It is my house, is it not? I can go anywhere I want.”“Well…” I replied. “So that is where Athena is at now? By the garden?”“Oh, I do not think so, I left her there when coming out, but she did say that was going inside to get something. I do not know what she was referring to though.”“Alright, alright. That's cool.” I did not want to say anything else. I knew that the more pressure I put on Sienna, the more it made her jealous of the care that I directed Athena's way. She had made a great effort to pursue peace and at least try to please me at su
SEBASTIANThat Gut FeelingMusic was playing in the background, soothingly so. Still, there was this uneasiness that was irking me. Chipping me with a disturbing form of relentlessness. It was something I could not ignore. Definitely not.Lucas, my old friend who was still in town, had done me a favour and came for the party, a gesture that delighted me. But even delighted people get set off with alarms, and I had the front seat row to it right now.“Hey man, what's up? What's on your mind? You seem disturbed,” Lucas asked me, peering into my eyes like he was searching for a reason to prove that his questions were indeed right.I smiled and looked at him. “Why would you think that? Of all things? That I am disturbed by something? And that during a beautiful party like this.”“Well, I mean. I am not the one who is looking anxious, you are. I would not know why the anxiety is there, you are the one who would know.”“Yeah, well. I do not know what exactly is going on, man. There's just t
ATHENASienna's A Friend, Or Is She?“Hey guyyyyysss, what is going on here?” Sienna said, in very unusual manner. She never smiled at me, not even once, we were always a source for each other's anger or sadness, never happiness. But now, she was all jovial and smiling, and it made me wonder to the extent that my skull almost cracked.“Nothing. Just reliving old memories,” Mason said.“Athena? You do not look very pleased,” Sienna turned to ask me. “Is everything alright?”“What twisted game are you about to play, Sienna?” I asked, keeping my frown intact. A few light words and a smiling face was not going to make it past my strong emotional defense against the demon that was Sienna.“Must everything about us always be rooted in enmity, Athena? I just do not like the fact that Mason over here is smiling and you are the one who is wearing a frown. He is probably speaking to you about things that you are not comfortable with?”“Please, Sienna,” Mason cut in. “We are two adults having a
