Chapter 17: Meeting First Love

Daisy walked back to the main house. Everyone was busy with dividing rice into trays, working at full capacity. They are the elderly people but so healthy. They like to work to be moved around and don't like to sit in one place feeling cramped and tired. Daisy really admires them.

She is half younger than them but her health is as weak as a slug. Always looking forward to having time to lie down and sleep, her body looks boneless, and doesn’t want to move anymore. But the more she sleeps, the more tired she is. So Daisy is in charge of ladling soup into small bowls.

“Daisy, don't fall asleep there.” Mrs. Pear called out.

“Selling soup is a little bit cheap. It's a bit expensive. Vegetables are grown in the garden, don’t spend money to buy and aren’t as expensive as abroad, no need to count each stem. Water is full in the well. Woods are full around the hill.” Mr. Pine spoke up. That means Daisy scoops up the soup a little more. But they don’t want to say it directly.
