LUCAS’s POINT OF VIEW

Ava and I went downstairs and we both danced together for about 10 minutes. She kept on blushing and smiling while the guests were cheering and applauding for us. I wanted to have a small party but my Nana had to do it her way of course. She invited her friends and some of the other people on the streets. She prepared a lot of food, games, and performances.

My joy was that Ava enjoyed the party and she didn't feel bad in any way.

When the party was over and the guests were leaving one after the other Ava showed me the gifts they brought and most of the gifts contained baby items. I smiled a little at the sight of the items, and Ava covered her eyes with her hands. We must have been thinking the same thing.

“Why are you suddenly acting embarrassed, Ava? You were dancing wildly in front of the guests a while ago and now you are covering your eyes because of the gift items?”

Her face turned red as she stared at me and I just knew she was dying to laugh. Before I could say anything else she laughed loudly in happiness and I was so confused.

“I am not embarrassed by the items, sir. I am only wondering why they all brought the same thing”

“I think my Nana told them to bring all these baby items. She has always wanted a grandchild and I guess she can not wait”

Ava’s face immediately went pale and she looked away. It felt like she was trying to hide her tears.

“Ava, is something wrong? Tell me if I said something bad”

“No, sir. I just felt bad. As you know I won't be able to conceive a child anymore”

“Ava, the doctors said it is a 50-50 chance, right? And I am definitely not forcing or rushing anything on you, Ava. My main focus is to get you into the clothing world so you can make a name for yourself. You are a strong woman Lily, and I will always support you for as long as I can”

“Can I ask you a question, Lucas? Why are you doing all of these? I mean, why are you helping me?”

“Ava, I hate seeing women suffer, and I also hate injustice. What that man did to you was entirely wrong and I am here to make it right because no one deserves to leave like that”

While Ava and I were still talking outside the house and waving to the guests my Nana walked up to us and she hugged us both. I loved how my Nana looked at Ava. It felt as if she was holding her child. The love Ava had in her eyes for my Nana also was so clear.

When my Nana left a little tear dropped from Ava’s eyes and I had to ask because I was curious.

“Ava, are you alright? What is wrong with you? Hey, talk to me, huh?”

“Nothing is wrong, sir. I just feel so loved by your grandma. She is such a loveable and sweet person. Since the first day that I met her, I have been glad. She reminds me of my mother”

Ava immediately cried out after saying that. I quickly hugged her firmly and patted her back.

“It is fine, Ava. Remember what you told me earlier, right? You said you wouldn't cry because crying makes you weak. You need to channel your energy into working and becoming a powerful lady. You need to be strong Lily Rose”

When I said that she hugged me too, then broke the hug. She wiped her tears away with her hands and smiled at me.

“Thank you, sir”

“Now let us go upstairs we have a lot to do tomorrow”

“What do we have to do tomorrow, sir?”

I didn't say anything and we both walked up to my room.

“Ava, if you do not want to sleep in my room with me it is fine, trust me”

“It is fine, sir. And I am your wife so whatever comes is also very fine. I think it will be weird if Nana sees me sleeping in a different room, right?”

I nodded and clenched my hands together.

My phone rang and I whispered to Ava to take her shower while I answered my call. She went into the shower while I stood with one hand on my waist and the other holding my phone to my ear.

I knew it was my friend, John before I answered the call. He is the only one who would call me on the night of the wedding.

“Hey, John. Don't tell me you are missing me already, man”

I said to him and we both chuckled loudly at the phone.

“Hey, how is it going over there? How is your new bride doing?”

“Ava? She is fine. She is taking her shower”

“Already? Come on Lucas give the girl some time”

“What do you mean by that? Hey! Of course, she is just taking her shower so she can rest!”

After about a minute of silence from him, he finally spoke.

“I believe you, Lucas. You have a lot of self-control and you are filled with principles. A man of principles”

I grinned at John’s words and he was right. I am very good when it comes down to self-control.

“I have something to talk to you about, John”

“What is it, Lucas?”

He answered sharply and I explained how Emily had come to the house earlier and talked about being pregnant. John was absent from the wedding because he had lots of work to do outside Australia and I insisted that he stay and finish his work before coming back to Australia.

“Well, is the child yours or not, Lucas?”

John asked and even I didn't have an answer to it. I forgot about everything that happened that night, and I was also very confused.
