LOGINGianne I rush out of the store, trying to find out who this person is or whether they even know me. I scan everywhere, but there’s no sign of them.Uneasiness settles in my chest. Could this be Thor? Who am I supposed to call?I stand there for a while before finally getting into a taxi. My head is pounding, and the fever feels worse again. We enter my street, and that’s when I see them, the same figure coming out of the grocery store, her physique, her clothes, everything familiar. Then the brightly dressed woman joins her, and they walk side by side.“I’ll stop here,” I say.The car halts, and I step out quickly, moving fast enough to catch up with them. They slow down, clearly aware someone is following.“Thanks for the bills,” I say, touching the lady in black, hoping to catch a glimpse of her face, but she dodges me, nods, and keeps walking leaving me with the other woman.“My name is Britney,” she says, extending her hand.“Nice to meet you,” I reply, shaking it, my eyes still
(Gianne's Pov)I woke up from my dream, tears streaming down my face. I had just had a dream about my father in a beautiful flower garden, the scent still lingering even when I'm awake, his face hasn't aged a bit. It has been so long since I dreamt about him. It's been three hours since I got back from the Blackwood family mansion. My head and body ache so badly. I check my temperature, and I'm burning. I take some medicine and slump on my couch, my eyes closed. Just enough to feel better.Minutes pass. I can't stay indoors today. As much as I don't have the energy to socialize, staying indoors can be suffocating at times.I enter my bathroom and turn on the shower to take a bath. My temperature gradually cools down. I barely manage to finish my bath when the water stops running. I just paid my bills a few days ago. Why has the water stopped running?I turn the shower on and off, trying to confirm what the problem might be. The handle falls off and hits the floor.“Nothing works norma
(Gianne’s POV) Do you care to dance? A fine young man approaches me. I’ve always wanted to do a ball dance. I size him up. Yes, I take the last sip of my drink and place it down, taking his hand to join the dance. Suddenly, someone pulls me back. It is Lucian, blocking him from me. Whatever their history is, from the look of things. Everywhere is about to get tense. My tummy starts cramping. “I have an emergency,” I say, tapping Lucian Blackwood. He gives me a cold glare and exits the ballroom. I scurry after him. I follow him past two long staircases. He purposely ignores the elevator. By this time, I am panting heavily. He is too energetic. We reach the hallway. He stops abruptly and leans on the wall with both arms crossed. I stop in my tracks. “Go on, seems like you have a business up here,” he says. I am dumbfounded, nothing satisfies him. He didn't move an inch. “When can I go home?” “Anytime you want.” I check the time and turn to leave, but his voice stops me. “You
“Miss Gianne,” I had called out to her just as she was about to get into the taxi.“Sir.”“Be at West Road in three hours.”She looked as if she didn’t understand the language I was speaking. Even I didn’t know why I wanted her to come with me. All I knew was that my first PA had once attended dinner with me, to observe and learn.I walked away and entered my car. Here we are three hours later, and she is sitting in the car beside me.Her straight hair is packed into a neat, tight bun.She steals a glance at me before her green eyes begin to dart around. We pull up at a Chanel store, as I instructed my chauffeur.“Come with me,” I say to Gianne. It has been a long time since I had a female PA, and I find myself acting differently, less like myself. As if I’m.. Managing her presence. Or perhaps it is because she feels familiar in a way?She follows closely without a word, and we step into the store, heading straight to the female section.“What do you need?” the salesperson asked as sh
“Use that brain this time,” Orion said, pointing a card to his head. The man, defeated, reluctantly told them to let me go. He made an attempt to move the suitcase to his side, but Orion stopped him and grabbed it."You missed your chance" Orion gave him a burning glare, which made the man lower his eyes instantly. He held my hand, and we walked out of there. I was shaking and feeling cold from the inside. What did I just witness? I almost got in trouble.“I wasn’t meaning to stalk you. I’m sorry,” I said, looking down.“And thank you for tonight,” I added.“Lucian saved you, not me. Don’t follow Lucian around like that.”“It’s…” I paused. “I wasn’t following him, I just got it wrong.”“Get in the car. I’ll take you to the hospital. You’re wounded.”“It’s fine, I’ll just patch it up,” I said.“I can’t stand seeing bruises on people.”I sat down and fastened the seatbelt. Bruises would be normal if he deals with people like that. We drove out, and police sirens blared past us.We stopp
The last word from him made me feel like I was slowly going crazy. I wanted to get out of there this very second. I looked at his face, totally unpredictable, like nothing around him could reach him. I walked out of his office without saying a word, heading somewhere I could feel better, not what I’ve been reduced to.What a life, I sighed when I got there and rested on the railings, looking down at the city streets below.Mia’s call came through and I picked it.“Hey baby,” her voice came through from the other side.“Hello, how was your day?” I asked in a low voice.“You don’t really sound good. What’s up? Spill it,” she said.“It’s just a little workplace problem,” I lied to make her feel better.“Whoever it is tell me I’ll fight for you.”“I wish I could but this time we stepped into their territory.”“Your boss?”“Hmm.”“Your handsome cool boss is actually giving you a problem?”“I never said he was cool... Today I tried cursing him out and breaking his rules just for him to let
