ZOE’S POV

The moment the words left my mouth, “Can Jamie spend the day with me tomorrow?” Chloe stopped mid-step like someone had yanked her back by an invisible chain. The fake warmth that had lit her face moments ago drained into a pale look of disbelief and panic. I didn’t even try to hide the satisfaction bubbling inside me. I had caught her off guard, and she hated it.

Austin turned to me his brow furrowed slightly as he considered the request. “Well.. it’s still weekend,” he began slowly then looked at Chloe. “If Zoe doesn’t mind I think that should be fine.”

Everyone turned to her and for a split second she stood frozen—her victory slipping away, unravelling bit by bit right in front of her. She stuttered, struggling to come up with a response. “I–I just think Jamie should rest… after all the excitement today. He’s probably really tired.”

I smiled politely, but my voice was firm. “I promise he’ll be fine. We’ll just visit a few of his favorite places, maybe the zoo, or the park

CHLOE'S POVI had been waiting all day to hear from Zoe after planting the question in her mind “Ask Austin about Owen and watch what happens.” I thought she would call me back within hours. The way she paused when I said Owen’s name... it meant something. She didn’t remember but her instincts were waking up.She didn’t trust me. But I didn't care about that as long as she started questioning him.So I kept the phone close. I kept checking the battery, refreshing the screen like a teenager desperate for a text. No call came.Until nearly midnight.A message came in.Zoe: Can we meet? Let's talk. I want to know everything. My heart skipped a beat. Finally.I sat up and read the text. Simple. Direct. But I could sense her uncertainty. I typed back eagerly. "Of course. There’s a small park near Keston Ridge. Tomorrow at 6 PM. Come alone."I couldn’t sleep that night. Pacing, planning, imagining every version of that meeting. I thought of how I’d look into her eyes and tell her everythi

AUSTIN’S POV “Who is Owen?”I dropped the glass.I looked at her. My blood turned cold.“What… did you just say?” My voice was barely audible. She looked at me curiously. “I just… I keep hearing that name in my head. Owen. It feels… important.”I couldn’t speak. Her words hit hard.I haven't heard that name in a while. But suddenly it was back. It was the way she said it like she had been waiting to.I put the spoon down and forced a laugh. “Where did that come from?.”Zoe stared at me blankly. “I'm not sure. I just can't get that name out of my mind.”I tilted my head, keeping my cool. “Owen’s a common name, babe. Could be anyone.”She didn’t look convinced. “But it felt... familiar. Like I knew him.”I hated the way my heart was racing. I held her hand and smiled softly. “You’re still healing Zoe. Your mind’s probably mixing things up. Maybe he was someone we knew casually before the accident.”I saw a spark in her eyes. Not quite doubt—but not full trust either.“I just want to kn

  • RIGHTFULLY MINE    The Name She Shouldn't Know

AUSTIN’S POV The diffuser's scent hit me as I entered the house. Home. My sanctuary. I closed the door and undid my tie, rubbing my neck. Work was all meetings, damage control and phone calls I didn’t want to answer. I was eager to get back to Zoe. To hold her hand and calm her fears. “Jamie?” My voice echoed down the hall. His little footsteps came bounding from the den. “Hi Daddy!” I smiled and gave him a hug. “Hey champ. Where’s Mummy?” He looked up and shrugged. “She is in her room.” I ruffled his hair and stood up. “Alright, thanks bud.” I went up to see how she was doing. Maybe she was sleeping. Maybe she was reading again. She'd been so quiet. I saw it as part of healing. Confusion, tiredness, emotional exhaustion. But sometimes when I looked at her, I saw something else that I couldn’t name. I knocked softly. No response. “Zoe?” I pushed it open. Empty. I frowned. The curtains were open. Her bed was made. No sign of her. Strange. I looked in the bathroom. Nothin

  • RIGHTFULLY MINE    I'm her memory

ZOE'S POV “What’s that?” Austin asked, voice low but pointed.I froze. He saw. Or he suspects.I forced another smile. “Just… the pillow was lumpy. I was adjusting it.”He paused and looked at me intensely. Then he gently moved hair from my face. “I want you to feel safe Zoe. I'm here. Jamie’s here. You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”I nodded. But as his hand stayed longer, his touch was more than just comforting—it was also possessive.“I brought you some tea. It will help you sleep.” He said softly. “Thank you” I whispered. My heart was still racing but I forced a calm breath. He was kind. Reassuring. His voice was so warm. I wanted to believe him. Maybe I should. But I kept thinking about that night at the hospital. The way Chloe stood at the door, the look in her eyes. And the way she had said Austin is lying to you.“Try and get some rest,” Austin continued, “Drink the tea, it’ll help you relax. I’ll be back later.”I nodded, watching him walk out. When I was sure he was go

  • RIGHTFULLY MINE    Who do I trust?

ZOE'S POV "Welcome back Zoe." Austin said as he opened the front door. His voice was calm. “It's great to have you home.”I walked in quietly, looking around like a stranger. Technically, I was. The air was fresh. The lights were warm and inviting. A vase of fresh lilies sat by the door and two staff members came forward.“Welcome home ma’am” they said together, smiling.I smiled and nodded. Home. It felt strange inside. The floor was made of marble. The space was beautiful. Everything was nicely arranged and I still didn't feel like I fit. Then I heard him.“Mommy!”Little feet came running down the stairs. A little boy—Jamie ran straight into my arms. Austin’s voice followed immediately behind, worried. “Jamie! Slow down. Mommy is not fully recovered.”I knelt down and hugged him tightly. I wasn’t concerned about being careful. Holding him felt like finding a missing part of myself. He held on tight, his breath on my cheek. He didn’t say a word,he just held on.I felt tears fallin

  • RIGHTFULLY MINE    The feeling of uncertainty

ZOE'S POV I looked up as the door opened. Austin stepped in and closed the door quietly. Something in his eyes changed. His smile was gone. He looked tense, eyes scanning the room. I sat up straight. “Is everything okay?” I asked carefully. “Did you see her? The woman from earlier?” He paused. Just for a heartbeat. But I caught it. “She looked so much like me” I said softly. Austin sighed deeply and sat down looking worn. “She looked like you,” he repeated, running a hand over his face. “Because she is… your twin sister.” I blinked. “My… what?” “Your twin,” he confirmed gently. “Her name is Chloe.” I got confused. A twin sister? Why hadn’t anyone mentioned her before? Why hadn’t she come in to see me if she was really my sister? “Why didn’t she come in?” I asked in a whisper. “She just stood at the door watching me…” Austin gritted his teeth again. He looked me in the eye. “Because you and Chloe… don’t exactly have the best relationship. We’ve all been through a lot because
