LENA'S POV

The estate had never felt normal. It was always too guarded, too tense, too filled with dangerous people pretending they were not dangerous.

So when Dante announced movie night at dinner, I genuinely thought he had finally lost his mind.

"A what?" I asked flatly.

"Movie night," Dante repeated, cutting into his steak with the calm of someone who had not just said something completely insane. "This pack is one emotional breakdown away from collapsing and I refuse to watch that happen."

  • RISE OF THE BIKER QUEEN: Her protector, Her ruin   CHAPTER: ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN

LENA'S POV I should felt fear or rage but the only thing I felt was just pain, tearing through me like molten silver running under my skin, and for a few terrifying seconds I couldn’t breathe, think, or even remember my own name. Then I began screaming, the sound ripping out of me and echoing through the ritual chamber and bouncing off stone walls that had probably heard a thousand other prayers before this one. The cultists didn’t run. They didn’t even flinch. They just stood there, watching, like they’d been waiting their whole lives for this exact moment. The crimson symbols carved into the floor burst into light, and something inside me answered. The chains around my wrists shattered. The silver-black restraints exploded like glass, and the force of it knocked several cultists off their feet. I stumbled forward, convulsing, because it felt like my bones were breaking and rebuilding at the same time. Every nerve in my body was on fire. “No!” I screamed, and the roo

  • RISE OF THE BIKER QUEEN: Her protector, Her ruin   CHAPTER :ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN

DANTE'S POV I should have gone after Lena the moment she was taken. That thought had been tearing through my head for three days... three long days of silence without hearing her voice. Three whole days without knowing if she was alive or not. Every hour with her and Jax still out there felt like a knife twisting deeper into my chest. The war room was silent as I stood before my warriors. More than two hundred of Blackthorn's best fighters waited for my command. Their faces were grim and determined. "We move now," I said after a long while of silence. "We are going to bring back my children back home." I concluded with an air of defiance. A growl of agreement spread through the room, they all lifted their weapons into the air, their fists slamming their chests. The sound echoed through the estate and for the first time in days, I felt hope. The cult had taken my children and humiliated Blackthorn, tonight, we would give them an answer. We got to the monastery that wa

  • RISE OF THE BIKER QUEEN: Her protector, Her ruin   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN

JAX'S POV Just when I thought this would be freedom for I and Lena. I felt two heavy hands clamp down on my shoulders and yank me away from Lena with full force. They drag me away to tie me to a chair this time, they made me stand then bound my hands behind my back, and chained my feet to the floor. The cult called it 'witnessing' I called it hell. Lena was in the center of the circle. The same place I’d been two days ago. The torches made the sigils on the floor look like they were moving and breathing. She was quiet, with her head down, her shoulders rising and falling top fast. The guards had cut her wrists and let the blood drip onto the stone. “Look,” the leader said. He was back. Of course he was back. “Watch what love does.” I didn’t answer. My jaw hurt from how hard I was clenching it. My mind kept replaying the last time I saw her eyes, it was a steady silver. Now they were flickering brown then back to silver. “Do you see it?” the leader whispered, like this

  • RISE OF THE BIKER QUEEN: Her protector, Her ruin   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN

LENA'S POVThe first scream I heard belonged to Jax. I heard it from down the hall, behind the iron door I couldn’t open. It cut through stone and slammed into my chest. The cult had separated me from Jax and locked him in a different room. The second scream came and I fell to my knees. The chains on my wrists went taut. My own power surged under my skin like a fever with no place to go until he screamed again. And something inside me cracked open.I remembered what the old books said. What he had read to me at night when we were still hiding in the library, before all of this. They were using him to turn me to ash.“Stop,” I shouted in a raw voice. “Stop it!”Two guards with blank faces came in, this wasn’t personal to them, It was ritual.“Where is he?” I demanded. "Where did you take him to?" I asked. One of them looked at me. “He’s fine.”The next scream proved that he was lying.I lunged but the chains yanked me back and burned my wrists. The marks there were already black and bl

CULT LEADER POVThey had told me Jax was the sacrifice. That was what I wrote in the book. That was what I preached to three hundred faces in the dark, with candles dripping wax and sigils burning into the stone floor. 'The boy with the gray eyes had to bleed so the goddess would wake.'I believed it. I believed it so hard I carved the words into my own forearm. But faith had bent and that night, standing in the chamber I built with my own hands, watching the moon bleed through the skylight, I realized I had read the scripture wrong my whole life.Jax was never meant to die, he was meant to live because he was the key. I saw it then, clear as the markings glowing under his skin. He was on his knees in the circle, his wrists were bound, but he wasn’t afraid. He was looking at Lena. My vessel and my endgame, Lena who was now shaking from power. Power that wouldn’t come out because I missed one line. One faded line at the bottom of the third tablet. 'Only through the tethered one

  • RISE OF THE BIKER QUEEN: Her protector, Her ruin   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE

LENA'S POV I had never felt so utterly helpless. The heavy links of the chains bit viciously into my skin as they dragged me across the rough stone floor, every ragged movement sending spikes of white-hot pain shooting through my body. The silver-black metal seemed alive, reacting to my blood with a sick sort of malice. Every time I struggled, the restraints dug deeper. Every time I tried to reach for my wolf, the metal burned, severing the connection before I could even grasp it.Beside me, Jax was fighting just as hard, his knuckles white and wrists slick with blood. His jaw was clenched so tightly I thought his teeth might shatter. I could see his wolf surging just beneath his skin, desperate to break through, only for the suffocating weight of the chains to force it back down.Yet, he refused to stop. He refused to leave my side, navigating the agonizing crawl right along with me.Surrounding us in a tight, shifting circle, the cult members chanted in a low, rhythmic drone th
