Tamina was seated on a wooden armchair in her chamber. Her red hair cascaded beside her face as the ink pen in her hand moved smoothly from the beginning of the scroll to the end. Her grey eyes were fixed on what she was writing when a maid entered her room with a tray of food in her hand.

"My lady, your breakfast is ready." Celin announced dropping the foot on a small stool beside the bed.

Tamina had finished what she was writing; she rolled the scroll up, then tied a red rope around it. "Have this delivered to a raven; I want my mother to get this letter as soon as possible."

Hahn took the letter from her and nodded in obligation. Tamina rises to her feet and then makes her way to where the food is set. She sat down to have her meal, but just then she paused.

"You…come here." She said to a maid arranging her bed. The mailman walked up to her.

"Taste the food." Tamina said, crossing her legs elegantly. The maid feared for her life, but she had no choice; she crouched down,

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 70: Hamstung (2)

The servants walked around with different trays in their hands, setting the table before Ragaleon and King Orain. They were seated in a chamber, lit up by the sunlight. King Orain was a jolly man; he drank his wine and ate the pig meat in a gluttonous manner. He had a round potbelly, short dark hair, and fat fingers melanged with golden rings. "Your presence at my castle today has caused a lot more fuss than expected, Ragaleon." Orain started off as he dropped a bone from the meat he had just devoured, then swiftly plucked a cup of wine from the table and brought it to his lips. "You simply flatter me." Ragaleon said nonchalantly. He had arrived in Hamstung after days of an endless journey. He was not interested in dining with the fat, rich king; he was exhausted. King Orain fixed his gaze on the women in the room dancing to the playing harps and melodious tones of the instruments being played. They were half-naked dancers with smoky makeup.Just then Queen Friya walks in. Sh

The ship wobbled in the endless sea as the moonlight reflected on the waves and tides. Joya's eyes were opened as she wrinkled her nose, the stench of the corpse of a dead woman overwhelming the atmosphere. "How long do we have to put up with this smell?" Melin's hand hung on her nostrils as she tried not to inhale the horrid smell. "Not for long." Joya added when her ears picked up quick footsteps making their way to the cabin. "Here they come..." A woman in the cabin said with apparent fear, her voice breaking. The heavy wooden door creaked as it swung open, spilling a narrow strip of light into the dim, airless cabin. The man's boots thudded against the deck, the sound unnervingly loud in the cramped space. Inside, the air was thick with the stench of the corpse of a dead woman. The woman had died after weeks of enduring painful suffering. He perceived the stench and then scrunched his face in disgust. "Motherfuckers! Dying like hens." He groaned under his breath when th

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 68: The Kitchen

The Kitchen The kitchen was more than a cooking place; it was like a web of communication networks fostered by the maids working and the royal guard in the palace. One would think that just a network of spies was inevitably useless, but that was not the case. Rosa, Racheal's personal maid, made her way into the kitchen with heavy breaths. The kitchen was a colossal part of the palace, spacious enough to foster the flow of miscellaneous activities. While some maids cooked, others served, and some did the cleaning. Rosa made her way to a ceramic jug, setting out a small teacup on a saucer. She raised the jug and bent it downwards, but nothing came out. She creased her brows… No green tea?" She asked, turning to look at her colleague. "The traders have been treacherous in their delivery this month, leaving out most of the important items on the list." The maid head walks in. A fat aged woman with her hair packed in a loose bun Rosa swallowed hard. "My mistress nee

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 67: Hamstung

The sun was blazing up in the sky. Its rays are drying out the water in the desert. The few cactus trees are the only surviving plants in this place. The sand from the desert was hot and burned the feet; the eastern wind caressed the face and raised the dust on the ground in the air. Three men were seen on camels, their heads wrapped and their faces covered with a hijab. Only their eyes could be seen as they rode on the camel's back with a cart connected behind them. Inside the cart were multiple barrels of water that shook violently as the cart climbed over the piles of desert sand and rolled down in a wavy motion. Soon the men came upon a high cliff made of sand; from there they could behold the great kingdom, Hamstung. They turned the camel and went down the slope of desert sand. Their wrinkled hand and wrist were embellished with golden rings and silver chains. Their neck bearing a tribal mark traces back to their people. The footprints of the camels were imprinted on the

The door to the middle deck opened, and food started falling from above. The women who had been seated quietly, their hands bound by chains and their ankles connected in a long train of chains, suddenly became aggressive."Move! "Get out of the way! They struggled to catch the food the man was throwing at them, their bodies colliding. Some fell on the floor and were mashed brutally; some couldn't even catch a single wrap of food… Joya was among these sets. She was trampled on like some doormat, her backbone snapping with every foot that stepped on it. Her face kissed the dust; only saliva from the mouths of the women screaming rained on her. By the time the man closed the deck, those who had food suddenly curled up, their eyes red with hunger, their moldy teeth yellow from not brushing for days. "Give it to me! "Share, why are you greedy, bitch? Those who didn't get any food began to fight with those with food in their possession. Joya crawled backwards as she watche

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 65: Signs

The sun barely crests the horizon as two figures face each other in the open courtyard. The air is still, heavy with tension. Vinson stood tall and stern, gripping his broadsword with practiced ease. Across from him, Kael, younger and agile, twirls his slender rapier in his fingers. Clang! Their swords meet in a flash of steel. Vinson wins with brute strength. William could hardly dodge his attacks. He faltered at intervals, the frustration etched on his face."Charge! Vinson's voice was tense; William lurched at him, but he countered the attack with a quick lunge. Vinson grins. "Too slow." He said, playing the sword between his fingers. "I am only a learner." William growls. "You came to the right tutor." Vinson says, then pivots and slashes in a wide arc. William ducks and rolls away, dust rising in the air as he bounces back and is on his feet almost immediately. They circle, eyes locked. William strikes right. Vinson blocks the attack just in time, a low gro
