The dry leaves from the tree branches as it stood tall in the verse field. A boy stood in front of the tree, its shade hovering over his head.

Amilek had his hands crossed in front of him as he gazed deep at the tree branches as if waiting for someone. Today he clocked six years old, but his mother had forgotten his birthday. He was not offended, just lonely.

Micah was walking towards the tree with a book in her hand; she had formed a habit of reading under the tree at the back of the palace field. Her green gown rubbed the grass as she made her way to where Amilek was.

"What are you doing here?" She asked rather pensively. Amilek still had his hand crossed in front of him, gazing at the tree; he didn't spare Micah a glance.

"What do you see me doing?" He questioned bluntly.

"Gazing at a tree." Micah said, sitting on the grass under the tree, her gown spreading out. She opened the book in her hand and began to read it.

"Sometimes knowledge can't be found only in a book. What if the

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 73: The Desert Whispers

The desert stretched endlessly in every direction, dust from the sand rising in the air.The air shimmered under the weight of the sun, distorting the horizon like water that wasn't there. Joya walked on, her bare feet sinking into sand so hot it felt like fire. She tried to keep her pace steady, but her legs trembled with each step, muscles screaming from hours of relentless marching. Then suddenly she crouched down, landing on the sand with a thud, sweat glistening on her face. She tore a piece of material from her gown, then tied it on her feet. She turned around and saw Merlin trudging behind her, like a walking corpse. The two women that had survived with them were far behind. Her throat was parched beyond pain. Every breath dragged in air so dry it seemed to pull the moisture from her lungs. Her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth, and the faint taste of blood lingered from where she had bitten her cracked lips. She kept her eyes low, squinting against the stabbing gl

Vashi stepped out of her chamber, surrounded by her dark aura. Dark siren green eyes, red rosy lips, and curves protruding through her dark gown. The black gown had three chains on the waistline. The crochet was tight on her body, with only a rope tied behind her back holding the gown. Long flare sleeves, with pearl beads on the edges. Her long straight hair let down, outlining her straight jawline, her beauty was dark but out of this world. As she walked, chest out, gaze ahead, both hands crossed in front of her. She felt a wary omen surrounding her. The maids gazed at her weirdly, some moping endlessly. She squinted her siren eyes, and they looked more enticing, like sharpened crystal emerald glass. When she got to the end of the hallway, she turned elegantly, her low shoes gliding on the smooth shiny floor. The blade of sunray penetrating through the floor-to-ceiling windows radiated on her face. As she walked, the anklet on her ankle jingled; it was her iconic jewelry, w

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 71: Brewing Emotions

The cramped local bar was filled with peasants, both women and men alike. Gambling coins and drinking wine, cheerful laughter and deranged grins etched on their faces. The bar was lit up with lanterns and fire torches, with the loud strings of instruments playing and commoners dancing, completely drunk. "Hey garl, get me three cups of ale! A man screamed with the accent of that of a common peasant, hitting his half-filled cup of ale on the shaky wooden table, and some of the contents spilled on the table violently. A lady with a loose scarf around her dark brown hair, dressed in a long, worn-out brown dress, makes her way with three filled cups. Freckles spread across her upper nose and face; she had thick eyebrows, making her face look slightly manly. "That will be three silver coins." She says, dropping the wooden cups on the table, then using her dress to wipe the bead of sweat glistening on her forehead."Three cups! We're four! A man seated around the table of four screamed

The servants walked around with different trays in their hands, setting the table before Ragaleon and King Orain. They were seated in a chamber, lit up by the sunlight. King Orain was a jolly man; he drank his wine and ate the pig meat in a gluttonous manner. He had a round potbelly, short dark hair, and fat fingers melanged with golden rings. "Your presence at my castle today has caused a lot more fuss than expected, Ragaleon." Orain started off as he dropped a bone from the meat he had just devoured, then swiftly plucked a cup of wine from the table and brought it to his lips. "You simply flatter me." Ragaleon said nonchalantly. He had arrived in Hamstung after days of an endless journey. He was not interested in dining with the fat, rich king; he was exhausted. King Orain fixed his gaze on the women in the room dancing to the playing harps and melodious tones of the instruments being played. They were half-naked dancers with smoky makeup.Just then Queen Friya walks in. Sh

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 69: The Stings Of Slaves

The ship wobbled in the endless sea as the moonlight reflected on the waves and tides. Joya's eyes were opened as she wrinkled her nose, the stench of the corpse of a dead woman overwhelming the atmosphere. "How long do we have to put up with this smell?" Melin's hand hung on her nostrils as she tried not to inhale the horrid smell. "Not for long." Joya added when her ears picked up quick footsteps making their way to the cabin. "Here they come..." A woman in the cabin said with apparent fear, her voice breaking. The heavy wooden door creaked as it swung open, spilling a narrow strip of light into the dim, airless cabin. The man's boots thudded against the deck, the sound unnervingly loud in the cramped space. Inside, the air was thick with the stench of the corpse of a dead woman. The woman had died after weeks of enduring painful suffering. He perceived the stench and then scrunched his face in disgust. "Motherfuckers! Dying like hens." He groaned under his breath when th
