Nora

“How did you know I was thirsty?” Acting like I was impressed was something I’ve had to do over the years with different people, so it came naturally to me. I had always made sure I didn’t do it with him, but he drove me to this edge.

“I love you, and I know you so well, don’t I?” She leaned forward and kissed my forehead. “I just hate that we’ve been fighting so much.”

Our gazes fell to the cup, and I looked back up to see the malicious smirk tugging the corner of his mouth.

He looked at me, his gaze filled with a loving look that should definitely win him an Oscar, because I know the man sitting on the bed beside me at this moment doesn’t love me at all.

His conscience didn’t seem to be bugging him about the potential overdose, and taking the pills would ruin my day. The only thing singing in his head was the thought of him getting balls deep into his mistress.

“If I drink this, it will all be over.” My voice was a bit shaky. No matter how much I hated him now, there was still a part of me that wished all of this was a nightmare I’d soon wake up from.

Thinking I was referring to the fights between us, he nodded his head like a boy being offered candy while his smile widened. “Completely over, babe. I promise.”

Just then, Rory’s scream echoed through the house. He rushed out immediately while I poured the drugged water into the flower pot beside our bed. I didn’t have to worry about the plant dying since it was fake anyway.

Just like my husband and his mistress.

I hid my I***a 360 mini camera in the corner with the best view of the room, set it to start recording and then went down the stairs to see her frantically shaking her clothes while Caden was trying to calm her down.

Immediately she saw me, she pointed an accusing finger at me, her eyes wide like a crazed woman.

“You! You put those filthy things in my room, right?”

Yes, I did. I put my daughter's three pet tarantulas in her room, and I knew it was only a matter of time before one of them scared her, and in turn, saved me.

I must admit though, it was a shitty plan and I didn’t think it would work. But I didn’t think it was a good idea to buy my daughter deadly spiders about three months ago, but here we are.

They turned out to be useful.

“What filthy… What are you talking about, Rory?” I asked, my tone filled with mock concern. There was no way she’d know I put them in her room for sure, unless she saw me peeking when they were in the kitchen.

Her eyes narrowed hatefully at me, and then she turned to Caden, her eyes glistening. “I don’t like how I’m being treated here. I have been treated better at the motel and even when I used to stay on the streets. What did I ever do for her to put two deadly spiders in my room?!”

Three, but I guess the third one was enjoying itself somewhere else.

Caden looked between us, unsure of what to do.

“Do you really believe her, Caden? We were both in the room just now. How could I have put them in her room?” I stared at him to increase the pressure on him.

Caden has always had a big mouth on him, but I’ve recently realised he truly was such a coward whose only use was the thing between his legs.

“Why would you do that to her?” He finally said and hugged her comfortingly. She nestled her head on his chest and smirked at me.

“Caden! Who is your wife between the two of us?” I yelled, but they fell on deaf ears. He didn’t respond to me, and instead continued checking to make sure she was alright.

In the past, this would have irritated my soul, but that Nora was dead. This Nora would never be stupid over a man ever again.

I faked a yawn and held my head. “Why do I feel so sleepy?” I dragged my feet to the nearest couch and yawned again, then pretended my eyes were getting heavier.

“I… didn't. Didn’t… do it.” I slurred and then closed my eyes and slumped on the couch. My body was caught in an uncomfortable position, but I had to hold it.

“Nora…” Caden called out and walked closer to me, feigning concern, but I knew he just wanted to make sure I was actually knocked out. He raised my arm and waved his palm over my eyes and eventually concluded I was fast asleep.

“She’s asleep,” Caden said, and I could hear his footsteps move away from me, but I guess Rory wasn’t convinced. She asked him to go first, that she needed to drink some water and fix her hair because of all the fuss she’d made earlier.

When Caden was gone, Rory came to me and hovered over me before leaning to whisper in my ear. “I know you put those spiders in my room, but I can’t prove it. But that doesn’t matter now, anyway. You stupidly drank the drugged water, and now, I’m going to be screaming your husband’s name all night as he fucks me in your matrimonial bed.”

Urgh. She talks too much. I had to remind myself over and over to stay still. I couldn’t even ball my fists because that would give me off.

She finally left me, and when I was sure the coast was clear, I sat up and sighed. Staying here was better than being awake on the bed and enduring their filthy sounds as they went at it like rabbits.

It was late, but I opened my inbox to message Saul, my Lawyer. I needed to know why the divorce papers didn’t come like he said he would. His message was already sitting there.

He had sent it 20 minutes after he sent the initial one, informing me that the courier had an accident; however, the deed of the house was still making its way to me, because he had sent it a couple of hours before through a different one.

I sighed and finally got myself a glass of water. No matter what, I had to leave this marriage, this house and cut Caden out of my life. I didn’t want a man who only keeps me by his side so he can leech off me.

He shouldn’t be surprised when I cut him off, because he basically handed the scissors to me.

I opened the Calendar app on my phone and felt a sense of calmness. It’s just two days left. I will soon be free of this.

Morning came, and the divorce papers came early as well. Caden and Rory were still sleeping soundly in our bedroom, but I went about making breakfast anyway.

The maids were going about their duties, and then Rory and Caden came down.

“I saw Madam sleeping on the couch yesterday. Do you think they fought again?” One of them whispered, but I caught it. From the way Rory and Caden were looking, they caught it too.

“Really? But moans were coming from their room. If she was sleeping on the couch, then… who was the woman in the room with Master Caden?”

Nora If the ground was ever going to open and swallow me whole, now was the time, because Caden looked like he was going to bury me alive. His face was red, and he was reeling from whatever he just read. “What the fuck is this?!” His tone was cold and his gaze was colder. I started to back up as he moved forward. “Fucking answer me! What the fuck is this?!” The document was in his hands, now squeezed in the middle due to how tight he was gripping it. “I-I… ” I stammered, frantically looking for an excuse or a lie to tell, but my brain was moving super flipping slow. Think. Think. Think Nora! “You know… I must really give it to you. You’re quite bold.” He threw the document and the papers scattered on the floor, just like my thoughts were in my head, and to make it worse, the back of my knees hit the edge of the couch, causing me to fall on it. From the corner of my eye, I could see Rory grinning, clearly enjoying the show. I made a mental note to knock her teeth out if I ever g

  • Racing Hearts: Reborn for Revenge   3 — Divorce Papers

Nora The three days passed by peacefully, and of course, I wasted no time with sorting out my things. I had filed for a divorce, and for some reason, I could feel nervousness mixed with the anticipation that was gnawing my bones. Zara was upstairs with her nanny, and Caden still hadn’t returned, leaving me alone in the mansion. I sunk into the sofa in the living room, still in disbelief that everything I’ve built for the past five years was all a farce. Every smile he flashed my way, every look of concern, every gentle caress. Fuck. Every single moment I cherished was just him pretending so I wouldn’t get ahead of him. He reduced me to nothing with just three words. I love you. My mind started to spiral and it felt like I was taken back to that race track with the flames everywhere and the sight of him hugging his mistress and cursing my very existence. My heart squeezed painfully and it felt like I couldn’t breathe. I grabbed a glass of water, chugged it down and decided t

Nora I opened my mouth to answer him, my mind scrambling for an answer to his question. Caden would never let me leave if he knew my plans. Just then, he got a call, and his face instantly brightened up. His focus moved from me entirely to his phone as he answered it. “Rory,” he said, his voice softer as he spoke into the phone. I had to hold back a scoff and pretend like I didn’t notice it. Now, seeing it in hindsight, he never bothered to try to hide his affair. I was just too blind and delusionally in love with him to notice. I kept making excuses for him, lying to myself for him, and I took whatever he told me and put it there as the cherry on top. “I’ll be right down.” He finished and turned to me, his expression turning sour. “Aren’t you going to help me with my bag?” In the past, I had always rushed to him, eager to help with whatever he was doing, I’d pack his bag with his racing kit, snacks and other essentials he’d need while racing, but he never appreciated it.

NoraThe crowd roared with praise as my husband floored the three racing cars ahead of him. He was now second place. Just one more left and he’d win the race! My heart bloomed with pride, causing me to look at the gift I had prepared for our sixth anniversary. It was a simple silver necklace with a square amethyst locket. His favourite picture of the both of us sat inside, and I smiled again as I refocused my gaze on the car race.I told him I wasn’t feeling well so I could surprise him after his big race today.‘Caden, I wonder what gift you have prepared for me for our anniversary this year. I do hope you love mine, because with this necklace, I can be with you always.’I watched with excitement and a growing aching need to be with him and celebrate our sixth anniversary, but as the race went on, something went terribly wrong.I caught sight of the trail of gasoline that had now spread around the whole track, and milliseconds after, fire engulfed the track because of a car that had
