What is this feeling?

This was a challenge he never expected to encounter, especially not this night.

Ian had been able to leave the pack house without arousing attention. By that time, he was sure that the men that were in the late Alpha’s bedroom had mostly left, so he had assumed that he would not face any trouble on his way back to the outskirts of the Pack compound

How wrong he was about that.

Before Ian even made it ten steps away from the house, he was suddenly confronted by a group of wolves. They could not have been more than ten, Ian thought, but they clearly were lying in wait for him by the way their eyes glinted at him and they growled, with their furs standing on end. This was enough to raise Ian’s hackles.

So, the people had left him a leaving party to send him off, he thought grimly, before raising his voice to speak out, “I am no threat to you. Why don’t you all let me pass and we will speak nothing of this?”
