“Anvesha ma’am, please listen to bhaiya once”, Parisa said in a hushed tone as she ushered Anvesha to the balcony of her room. Anvesha, who was captivated by the serene view of the Mussoorie hills which were clearly visible from the first floor of the house, was dumbstruck at once.
Anvesha gave a sheepish smile as she sat on one of the round outdoor bamboo chairs arranged sophistically in the balcony amongst the potted plants. It was four in the morning when Adhyayan’s alarm beeped and he sprang from his bed groggily. He mentally cursed himself for planning an early morning trip. Being a morning person, practically Adhyayan never had issue with getting up early in the morning. Anvesha yawned as she got up at seven in the evening when her phone rang. The clock struck five in the morning and the early bird Adhyayan woke up. A smile crept on his face as the events of previous night flashed in front of his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he rubbed his eyes groggily as he got up from the bed and walked towards the balcony stretching his arms. He was greeted by the mesmerizing view of the rising sun amidst the mountains at the horizon. He wanted to relish the picturesque of dawn with his girlfriend, his lifelong partner, the bubbly girl and fantabulous journalist, Anvesha Chatterjee who was like a drizzling rain in his monotonous, arid life.Smiling like a fool, he remembered the way Anvesha shut him up the previous night. After enjoying the delicious breakfast amidst the calm and lazy air of Lansdowne, the couple planned their sight-seeing activities. Having lived in the town, Adhyayan became the tour guide for his girlfriend as they headed towards their first destination, one of the oldest churches of the city.Adhyayan drove towards St. Mary Church. The serene journey with a narrow mountainous road encapsulated with Oak and Pine trees was truly mesmerizing. Adhyayan said, “You know this protestant church was built in 1890s by Colonel Hume of the Royal Engineers”, as he turned towards right entering the marketplace of the unspoiled town. He continued, “It was turned into a museum after independence by Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre”.
