LOGINJulianna POV
As we entered our room Lyra filled me in on everything she knew on the Thane Siblings and the rules and regulations at Paranormal high. "Remember, Julie, there is a curfew here. We can't leave our room after 9 PM," She reminded me.
Lyra then asked to see my schedule of the upcoming classes "Oh Julie, the start of your studies here at Paranormal high is tomorrow, where is your schedule?"
I pointed to the table in my room. "It's right there"
Lyra walked over to grab it and scanned the list of classes. "Ah! We have Witchcraft and Spellcasting together I'm sure you will enjoy the class, trust me it's fun, but..." Here eyes widened as she looked at the rest of my schedule "You classmates for the other subjects are the Thane Siblings"
I raised my eyebrowns in concern, "What's wrong with that " I asked, my voice lased with a hint of defensiveness.
Lyra expression turned serious, with her face looking worried. "Let's just say there are mischievous. They are know for pranks, their rivalries and their complicated relationship. You'll see what I mean soon enough" she warned.
I took my schedule back from her, feeling a bit apprehensive"Thanks for the warning, Lya. I'll be careful," I promised, trying to sound braver than I felt. Lya yawned, stretching her arms over her head. "I'm exhausted from helping you settle in, Julie. I'm going to bed. Good luck tomorrow!" she said, her voice sleepy.
I smiled, grateful for her help. "Thanks, Lya. Goodnight!" I replied, watching as she entered her room and shut the door behind her. I looked at my schedule again. "Thane siblings, huh? Maybe it won't be so bad," I shrugged, trying to stay positive, but deep down, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was in for a wild ride.
The next day, I woke up late, realizing I was running behind schedule, "Shit, I'm late! It's my first day here but I'm already late!" I exclaimed, hurrying to get dressed,I finished tidying up quickly rushed out of my room wondering why Lyra didn't wake me up.
As I rushed to the other building where our classooms were. I look at my watch and groand "Shit! I'm 5 minutes late!" I muttered to myself.
"Ouch!" I moaned when I collided with someone, looking up see who ran into me.
"Why are you being blocked?" He asked irritably.
So l raised an eyebrow at him."Wow, I'm the one who's blocking now. You're the one who hit me." I said angrily then he turned away didmissing me.
"How rude" I thought, shaking my head.
I entered the magical creatures class and our teacher was already there. I swallowed hard before knocking on the door. All the students in the room, including the teacher, looked at me."Ughm .. Hi?" I said, nooding awkwardly.
"You're 5 minutes Late Ms.?"
"I'm sorry I'm late." I replied bowing my head.
"You must be the girl, who got the scholarship to study here at our prestigious, am I right?" The teacher asked me.
"Yes I am ." I answered.
"Come on in, introduce yourself"
I breathed a sigh of relief as I made my way to the center of the classroom. The atmosphere here is very strange, especially since the Thane's are my classmates. They sat at the back but one sit was empty so I decided to sit down there later. So I introduced myself
"Ughm .. Hi? I'm Julianna Harris . From Fall city. Nice to meet you all." I said, smiled at my classmates.
"Fall city? Isn't that the place where humans live?" I look at the one who's asking, it was Caleb.
I nodded then Cameron asked "Are you human?"
"Of course she is. She said Fall city didn't she? Lila replied rolling her eyes. The noisy one seems to be Thanes.
"We're just clarifying" The two twins spoke in unison.
"Take a sit" Lila said to me. I headed towards the empty seat next to Lily who was quiet unlike the rest the Thanes siblings.
As I approach the chair, I felt a strange sensation, like magic pulling the chair away. I ended up sitting on the floor instead.
My classmates burst out laughter as well as the Thane Siblings except for Kaid and Lily.
"Nope... wrong sit." A voice said. My head turned to see the one who's speakingr. My eyes widened when I saw who it was. It was the man who collided me earlier standing at the door. His hand was up in the air, and I realized that he was the one in control of the chair.
You've got to be kidding me" I muttered to myself.
"Hey Scott, why did you come back? Didn't you leave class already?" Lila asked.
My eye widened as I realized "Wait he is Scott"
Lyra POVI was still reeling from Master Veyron’s story when Scott scoffed beside me.“Really?” he said. “You expect us to believe that?”I turned toward him sharply. “Scott—”“In the history books,” he continued, voice rising, “Maereth Noctyra was an evil witch. A tyrant. Someone who wanted to wipe out entire realms.”“Scott,” I warned again, lower this time.“And Ringwarden Sorcerers?” He laughed once, humorless. “Never heard of you. And honestly—what kind of stupid name is that?”I punched him in the arm hard enough to knock the breath out of him.“Forgiv
Lyra POVThe silence that followed the old man’s words felt heavier than the blue mana orb that had dragged us here. For a long moment, no one spoke.Scott shifted beside me, arms crossed, jaw tight. His lightning flickered faintly beneath his skin—contained, but barely. I could feel it. Feel him holding back.“First thing,” Scott said at last, breaking the quiet, “I want to know who the hell you people are.”The old man didn’t flinch. He studied Scott the way mountains studied storms—patient, unmoved, ancient.“I am Eldric of the Rings,” he said calmly. “Eldric Veyron. Master of this mountain.”A pause.“You may call me Master Veyron.”He gestured lightly to his side.“The one who brought you here is Kael. The one standing behind him is Darius.”Kael’s jaw tightened at the sound of his name. Darius didn’t move at all.“I’m Lyra Bloodworth,” I said, lifting my chin. “And this is Scott Thane.”At that, Master Veyron’s gaze sharpened—just a fraction.“Thane,” he repeated. “And Bloodwort
Lyra POVWe were surrounded. Not the dramatic kind of surrounded where there’s still a clever way out—no gaps, no hesitation in their stance, no fear in their eyes. Just white-robed figures encircling us in a perfect ring, their feet planted firmly against the cold stone of the mountain path. The wind howled above us, tugging at my cloak like it wanted to drag me off the cliff itself.Scott stood beside me, shoulders tense, fists clenched so tightly I could hear the crackle of lightning answering his anger. Blue sparks crawled across his knuckles, crawling up his arms like living veins of light. He was seconds away.“Scott,” I said quietly. He didn’t look at me.“I said, Scott.” I reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. The lightning flared—then stilled.“They outnumber us,” I said, forcing the words past the knot in my throat. “And they’re not hesitating.”“I can take them,” he growled. “Just give me—”“No.” I tightened my grip. “We can’t win.”That finally made him turn to me
Julianna POVThe house hadn’t changed. That realization hit me the moment I stepped inside, like a punch to the chest I hadn’t braced for. The faint smell of ginger tea lingered in the air. The old clock on the wall still ticked slightly too loud. Even the floorboard near the hallway still creaked when I stepped on it.Home.For a second, I just stood there, my bag slipping from my shoulder, wondering how a place could feel so safe and so fragile at the same time.“Mom?” I called.“In the kitchen,” she answered. Her voice grounded me immediately.I followed it, finding her by the counter, hands wrapped around a mug, eyes tired but sharp in the way only hers ever were. She turned the moment she saw me, and before I could say anything, she crossed the room and pulled me into her arms.I didn’t even try to hold it together.Everything I’d been carrying—the fear, the anger, the confusion—collapsed all at once. I pressed my face into her shoulder, breathing her in, reminding myself that th
Lyra POVJulianna had been quiet all day.Not the peaceful kind of quiet. Not the I’m thinking about homework kind. This was the kind where she smiled too quickly, laughed half a second late, and stared at nothing for just a bit too long.Which meant something was wrong.I watched her from across the bench outside the west wing, my chin resting in my palm. Students passed by in clusters, laughing, arguing, living their lives like nothing had happened weeks ago. Like the world hadn’t almost cracked open.Julianna didn’t notice any of it.“Okay,” I said finally. “That’s enough.”She blinked. “Enough of what?”“Whatever emotional nonsense you’re trying to pretend isn’t happening,” I replied. “Out with it.”She scoffed. “Nothing’s wrong.”I leaned closer. “You just lied to my face.”
Julianna POVSolara’s return changed the air at Paranormal High. Not loudly. Not dramatically.Just enough that everything felt… tilted.I noticed it first in the little things.Scott standing a bit too stiff whenever Solara entered a room. Solara hesitating, like she wasn’t sure where she was allowed to stand. Conversations cutting off halfway, words swallowed instead of spoken. They avoided each other’s eyes with the careful precision of people who knew exactly where not to look. And that made it worse. We were gathered on the open training grounds that afternoon, the wide stone arena ringed with sigils carved deep into the earth. The sky above was clear, but the air buzzed faintly with magic—anticipation, tension, curiosity.Solara stood near the edge, hands clasped in front of her, shoulders squared but uncertain. Her red hair caught the sunlight strangely, almost glowing, embers flic
