I instinctively looked at Dad. Camila, who was a sweet talker and was lively, had always been his favorite.

But now, there was only disappointment in his eyes. He asked, "Save you? And then what? Let you keep bullying Selena? Camila, Selena changed our lives through hard work.

"Without her, I'd have died at the card table or rotted in a gutter long ago! You think I don't know you kept looking for chances to pick on her while she was working part-time jobs?"

Camila trembled and turned to Daniel. "Mr. Quigley, please help me…"

His face stayed blank. He didn't even bother to look at her.

"But why?" She broke down. "Why is it that I still can't find happiness even after being reborn? Dad doesn't want me, and neither do you!"

I lowered my head and looked at her evenly. "Do you think I'm just lucky? That I can have a good life with just anyone? In my past life, I ran away with Mom several times, and James killed me by ramming his car into me. You didn't know that, did you?"
