Chapter 2

Author: Green Pick
Grace wiped away her tears and showed her boarding pass to Ms. Greene, the flight attendant. "You have to help me, Ms. Greene! These two are trying to force me into economy even though this is my assigned seat. They have even gone so far as to toss my belongings on the floor!"

Ms. Greene took the boarding pass, carefully verified Grace's information, and then turned to show Lucius the boarding pass. "It is confirmed that this seat rightfully belongs to this elderly passenger, so please return to your respective seats as the plane is preparing for takeoff."

Lucius snatched the boarding pass and ripped it to shreds. "I've told you already—I am paying five times the fare for this seat! Do you not see how much agony Belinda is in right now? You're a woman yourself! How can you not have any sympathy for a pregnant woman?"

"In accordance with the airline policy, seats can't be bought or sold once the tickets are issued. In addition, this passenger has not consented to a seat change. If you continue to occupy her seat by force, we will be forced to remove you and your companion from the flight."

Lucius scoffed, looking at Ms. Greene with total disdain. "Do you have any idea who I am?"

He then threw a business card at Ms. Greene. His title as CEO was displayed in plain sight. "I could make one call right now and have you fired from this airline by tomorrow morning!"

Taken aback by his commanding presence, Ms. Greene grew uncertain and hesitated for a moment.

I watched with a heavy heart, feeling a tightening in my chest. I had always known Lucius was a man of iron-fisted methods, and I knew Ms. Greene's career was genuinely at risk.

I, however, had never seen him use his status to bully a defenseless elderly woman and an ordinary employee. It seemed like the "gentleman" facade he usually maintained for the public was gone. It was replaced by a side of him that was utterly revolting.

In the meantime, Grace was still on her hands and knees, desperately trying to gather the pearls scattered across the floor. "It's been five years since my husband passed away. It was something he had given me as a symbol of our devotion; it's the only thing I have left of him now."

In the end, even the other passengers on the flight couldn't take it anymore.

"What's wrong with you? How could you harass an elderly woman? Do you think having money makes you better than everyone else?"

"I know, right? You guys should just settle this already! If we waste any more time, the flight is going to be delayed, and we have places to be!"

Annoyed by the murmurs around him, Lucius snapped. He whipped out a bank card from his wallet and tossed it to the ground. "You'd better stop the waterworks this instant! You're acting as if someone is dead here! I have 50 thousand dollars on that card. Take it for the seat and your necklace.

"You should stop holding everyone up. If you still won't cooperate, just get off the plane and change your ticket. That money is more than enough for ten round trips!"

Grace wiped her tears away and slowly rose to her feet. Her back was straight and unyielding. "I'm not short of money! I just want my seat!"

Lucius clicked his tongue in annoyance and flicked a second card right at her face. "Here's another 50 thousand dollars! That should be enough for you, right? You'd better not push your luck here!"

Grace was trembling with rage, but she still wouldn't budge.

In the meantime, the grumbling from the other passengers swelled into a roar of frustration, with some even shouting for the crew to just kick her off the flight.

I realized this couldn't go on forever, so I let out a sigh and stepped up. "How about I go down to economy with you, ma'am? That way you'll have company and can feel more at ease."

Grace's eyes were still brimming with tears as she turned to look at me, as if I were her savior. She managed a weak, appreciative smile despite her distress and said, "Thank you! I'll make sure my grandson rewards you for your kindness once we land!"

I got in touch with a lawyer as quickly as possible and sent the divorce agreement to Lucius, who, to my surprise, signed it immediately without even looking through it.I thought about it and mused that Lucius was probably still being held by Ethan, who must have pressured him into signing the divorce agreement. In the end, with the help of both Ethan and the court, I was able to finalize the divorce in record time.I felt a massive weight lift off my shoulders once the divorce was finalized. I wasn't in a rush to return home, so I decided to stick around for a few days and enjoy what the city had to offer.I thought it was a really bizarre turn of events. I had initially come to this city to spend my honeymoon with Lucius, yet I found myself traveling solo the moment we landed. It was a few days later when Ethan reached out and offered to be my guide. I needed one anyway, so we just naturally started hanging out and exploring together.Ethan and I watched the sunset together on

I was aware that Ethan, having watched the surveillance footage, likely heard the rumors Belinda spread on the flight and already understood my relationship with Lucius. I replied honestly, "I just got married to him not long ago."I noticed that Ethan seemed lost in thought and could guess what was on his mind. He was debating whether to spare Lucius as a favor to me. I had done so much for his grandmother on the flight, so he probably would have granted me that request if I had asked. I continued, "It's over between us; I'm filing for divorce later today."Ethan's concerns were put to rest after hearing that. He didn't ask any further questions, though he did give me a deep, searching look through the rearview mirror. When we reached the hospital, the doctor informed us that Grace was in a stable condition with only a minor concussion and that her arm injuries had already been dressed. He added that she would need to be hospitalized for observation for a few days after she reg

Lucius' face turned deathly pale the moment he heard that.Ethan played the surveillance footage. The sounds of harsh insults and Grace's crying filled the air."You'd better not play the victim just because you're old! Haven't you noticed that Belinda is pregnant? Isn't she more entitled to this seat than you?""Do you have any idea who I am? I could make one call right now and have you fired from this airline by tomorrow morning!"It was all there on camera, plain as day.I noticed Ethan's expression growing increasingly grim. His knuckles whitened as he gripped the tablet.Ethan's eyes, which were burning with a lethal fury, were fixed dead on Lucius and Belinda. He turned the tablet toward them, and his voice dropped to a deadly, ice-cold chill. "Do you have anything else to say for yourselves now?"Lucius' throat worked as cold sweat streamed down his forehead. His legs were trembling uncontrollably. "It was all a huge misunderstanding, Mr. Howard! I had no idea she was you

I was escorted off the plane along with Lucius and Belinda when I noticed the medical team working urgently on Grace's injury while they waited for the ambulance to reach the scene.I couldn't help but feel troubled by the whole situation as Ethan approached the doctors to inquire about Grace's condition. The doctor explained that the extent of the damage to her head was still uncertain and that further diagnostic tests were required, which could only be performed once she was admitted to the hospital. With his brow deeply furrowed, Ethan gave a few brief orders before heading our way. He scanned each of us with a piercing look before his eyes eventually settled on me. "I want an explanation from each of you. I want you to go first." "I—"Lucius cut me off before I could explain myself. "You shouldn't waste your time listening to her nonsense or watching the surveillance footage, as everyone on the flight can serve as witnesses, Mr. Howard! That woman is the one solely responsible

Lucius might not have known who Grace was, but there was no way he didn't recognize Ethan Howard, the wealthiest man in the country. He was instantly shaken the moment he spotted Ethan, realizing too late that he had crossed someone he never should have touched.Having boarded the plane, Ethan headed straight for Grace's original seat, where Belinda was still lounging. "What makes you think you have the right to be sleeping in a seat that isn't yours?"Belinda had no idea who he was, so she snapped at him arrogantly. "You'd better mind your own business! It was my friend who bought this seat for five times the original price, so I'll lounge here however I please!"Ethan's expression immediately hardened. "Who is this friend of yours?"Lucius suddenly pointed right at me. "It's her fault! She's the one who took your grandmother's seat by force, smashed her belongings, and shoved her onto the floor!"Ethan's frigid gaze swept across me, causing me to flinch and take a step backward.

I noticed that it was actually Grace, who should have been back in economy. Though her legs were shaking and her voice faltered, Grace stood firmly in front of me, looking up at Lucius, who was much taller than she was.Grace said, "I heard a huge commotion back here and rushed over as fast as I could. You're not hurt, are you?"I rose to my feet with Grace's help and was overcome by a wave of emotion that I couldn't quite put into words.Lucius shot her a venomous glare. "You'd better stay out of this, you old hag! You already took my money, so scurry back to your seat and stay out of my way!"Grace gestured toward the two bank cards on the floor. "I never intended to take your money to begin with. I would never take such filthy money from a man who thinks wealth gives him the right to bully people and strike his own wife! I would feel utterly disgusted if I took it!"Lucius took a step forward. "What did you just say? You ought to know that I have every right to put her in her p
