CHAPTER 4 : She Wolf's Rebirth

The heat of the sunlight strikes my face which forces me to open my eyes. The familiar ceiling greeted me, it was my room. Getting up when a couple of images flash back into my memory.

‘Was it all just a dream?’

Wearing my slipper, I hurried to the toilet and look myself in the mirror. My hope slowly dispersed as I saw my scarred face visibly, gone is the beautiful woman I saw last night. Maybe everything was just really a dream.

But what bothers me is the fact that Baron and Calypso killed me, was it also just a dream? A nightmare perhaps, it feels real, like everything happened before my eyes. The rebirth thing feels substantial, though does it occur in real life? Damn this is so confusing.

I jumped off out of fright when three knocks ruined the silence of the room, taking me back from my thoughts.

“W-Who’s there?” I asked as I walk towards the closed door.

“The Alpha wants to see you, Cassiopeia.” It was a familiar voice of Matthias.

“W-Why?” That’s the only word that came out of my lips.

“Maybe it would be better if you’ll ask him yourself.”

My heart started pounding so fast. Damn, was it all just a dream? Or not?

“A-Alright, I’ll be there in no time, I’ll just change my clothes,” I replied stuttering.

“Just don’t make the Alpha Baron wait, Cassiopeia,” Matthias replied before I heard his heavy steps walk away.

I move as fast as I can and pulled a thin cloth on top of the table near my bed to cover my face and went out of my room in no time. Maybe he found out that I overslept and wasn’t doing my work that’s why he called me out for punishment. It wasn’t new to me anyway, I became the apple of his eye since he became the Alpha, and I became a slave, don’t get me wrong, an apple of his eye like his favorite slave to punish even though I did the smallest thing.

Seeing the big black door in front of me make me gulp for a second, just by glancing at it, and knowing the fact that a devil was inside makes me want to run out of this place. But I just close my eyes and heave a deep breath before I was about to knock three times, only to notice that the door was a bit open and…

“Calypso, don’t make this hard for the both of us. We didn’t see that prophecy coming, it is beyond our expectation and I can’t just shrug it off knowing that I might die!” It was Alpha Baron’s voice that sounded in havoc. My forehead creased; he was talking about the prophecy. So that means that last night wasn’t just a dream?

“But you haven’t rejected Cassiopeia and haven’t proclaimed me as your Luna! You shouldn’t have ended the event last night just because of that prophecy and proceeded to our plans instead!” Calypso shot back, I could hint rage in her voice, too far from Calypso I’ve known.

Right, I wasn’t rejected last night. After the prophecy has been foreseen by Matthias, Alpha Baron quickly ordered him to close the ceremony and told everyone to rest as the proclamation of the new Luna will be postponed and they will only release an announcement soon. Those simple words only prove how terrified he is with that newborn she wolfs Luna that’s destined to kill him.

Even though it sounded absurd, we never disregard the prophecy. Everything that was written and foreseen from it happens in the near future.

“Are you telling me what I’m supposed to do huh?” Alpha Baron’s menacing voice completely shut her off, I slowly move towards the door and took a peek at what was happening inside. My eyes slowly widen when I saw Calypso effortlessly being lifted up by Alpha Baron, choking her to her neck as the Alpha’s eyes turned crimson red, the exact look from him when he killed me.

“I-I’m still y-your L-Luna right?” Calypso’s voice barely makes a word due to the tight hand wrapped around her neck.

“Yes, but that doesn’t give you any rights to shout at my face do you understand?”

Calypso tried to nod her head despite her hard situation.

“Say it!” Alpha Baron howled. I saw a drop of tears fall from her eyes and I hate that my heart tightened seeing her suffering. You shouldn’t be pitying her Cassiopeia, she betrayed you. But my body seemed to be not cooperating as I closed my eyes and stepped back before I gather all my strength to knock, just to ruin their moment, or more likely to say save my ex-best friend.

“Come in.” It took a few seconds before I heard Alpha Baron’s voice.

I held the cloth on my face before I entered.

“Cassiopeia, please sit down.” Alpha Baron’s voice ordered, my eyes sneaking at Calypso who was in front of the mirror, fixing her makeup that has been smudged, completely ignoring my presence, and pretending that I’m not in the room.

Alpha Baron fakes a cough. “Calypso leaves us for a couple of minutes.”

That made the woman stop what she was doing. But she, later on, obeyed without meeting my eyes.

“Cassiopeia, what are your plans?” Alpha Baron’s question made me back to my senses.

“W-What do you mean Alpha?”

“I almost reject you last night, thanks to that prophecy I’ve changed my mind.” He then chuckled before taking out a bottle of wine and pouring it into the empty glass next to him.

But wait, did he just say that he changed his mind?

“What, you look shocked huh?”

“Do you want me to reject you then?”

I shook my head, you shouldn’t act stupid Cassiopeia, this is what you want right? Not be rejected and be his Luna, so you could get that power before everything gets messed up.

“I’ll give you a chance to prove yourself to me and convince me to proclaim you as my Luna.” He added and sipped a drink on his glass of wine.

“B-But what about Calypso?” I can’t help myself but ask.

“Oh her? Didn’t she betray you?” He asked back. What is he trying to point out? She betrayed me because of that power he probably offers to her temptingly, because she wants to be the Luna, right?

“Oh, you think that I’ll make her my Luna? That’s absurd, she’s the son of the former Alpha Magnus, your father’s right-hand Matthias, who came from a not-so-noble family. Do you think being beautiful and strong was enough to be my Luna?” His eyes met mine and I couldn’t take the intensity and power of dominance he possessed that made me look away.

“I also need a queen that has royal blood in her veins…”

I froze when I felt that he was in front of me already.

“Like you, Cassiopeia.” A shiver has sent down my spine as his fingertips touch my chin making me meet his gaze again.

“Two weeks and convince me that you deserve the spot. I’ll decide after that. If you haven’t convinced me within that span, then Calypso will be the next Luna of this pack.” He added.

“Are you up for it?”

I was slowly drowning in those blue eyes of him, gone is the red one that only comes out when he was furious or he’ll about to shift to his wolf.

“Silence means yes.”

I was stunned when he moves an inch closer to me, filling slowly the distance that kept us apart.

“It was strange, I’ve never felt something like this to you before, hmm.”

I gulped when he started smelling me, damn what’s wrong with him? Is he now a vampire and not a werewolf anymore?

“Leave, Cassiopeia.” His deep voice soothes my being, why does it seem that he’s stopping himself from the urge of something?

“I said leave.”

I was taken aback when he steps back only to see his crimson red eyes again, but he doesn’t seem furious, is he about to shift? It feels like something was triggered from him inside.

Damn Cassiopeia, what the hell are you thinking? I quickly stands up and bowed my head before I turn around. I can’t explain why my heart was thumping so fast.

When I was about to leave…

“I’ll look forward to it Cassiopeia, give Calypso a good fight. For your father.” I didn’t bother to respond as I continuously left his room. Why is he acting strange suddenly? Was it because of the prophecy? What does it have to deal with him choosing his Luna? I just can’t connect the dots.

And why does he have to mention my father whom they killed? Acting so innocent made me want to puke.  Or were they planning something behind me again? Like how they smoothly plotted how to kill my father without anyone noticing from the pack.

I clenched my fist remembering the day of my death when they confessed everything.

One thing was clear to me, I was rebirth to change my fate and the destiny of our pack as well as save the werewolf race, and now that I haven’t been rejected yet, I still have the chance to be the Luna and gain the trust of my pack, by taking Alpha Baron’s offer.

Right, now that there’s a prophecy, things might have changed in the future or become more worst.

When I went out of the Alpha’s room, it was dark already. I remove the cloth that covers my face as soon as I entered my chamber. This is the safest place for me at least, I walk toward my kitchen and drink a glass of water. But when I turn around, I spit out the water I drank after seeing the woman last night in the mirror right in front of me. She was holding the glass of water like I do and looked shocked as well.

“W-Who are you!?” I asked out of terror, pointing my fingers at her.

But the woman also copied my reaction and mouthed those words as well.

“L-Leave. Don’t deceive me any more. You are not me!” I exclaimed and looked away. This might be a part of my hallucination because I was thinking too much. Right, that’s it. That beautiful woman will never be me; this is just all my imagination.

“She’s you, Cassiopeia.” I quickly turn back with my eyes widened when I felt someone’s presence behind me.

It’s him again, the werewolf on the mountain, and on the lake, with a Greek God physique, and golden eyes.

“W-Who are you?”

“W-Why are you here!?” I continuously asked out of fear. But he only chuckled.

“It was a bit odd asking someone who are they when they were the ones who created their race.”

My jaw literally drops.

“Y-You’re the God of the Moon?” I asked unbelievably. I am more than shocked if it was true, as according to the ancient, no one sees the God of the Moon yet, and I’m the first ever to see him.

“I’m just here to congratulate you for not being rejected, though he still became the Alpha of your pack, it’s still not too late for you to save them. You could still change the fate of Cassiopeia, though it will be harder if you asked for it. Do you remember your words before you ran out of breath and leave this world for a couple of minutes?”

That’s when a flash of memory rolled at the back of my mind again, there was blood everywhere, two werewolves were in front of me, Alpha Baron, and Calypso, a wide grin flashed on their faces, and I was barely breathing. It was a few seconds before I died, and one thing was running inside my mind at that moment.

‘God of the moon, don’t let evilness take over this world. The current and future races of the werewolves are in danger. We need your help.’

“Now do you understand that you are the one who asked for my help? And why you are here?”

“But that beautiful woman…”

“It was you Cassiopeia because behind those scars of yours was that beautiful face hiding beneath. However, that face of yours will only show when there’s the moon, during the daylight, your scars will return.”

“W-What?”

“But why does it have to be at night only?” I can’t help but ask.

To be honest, I was already surprised that I own that beautiful face because after 21 years I might have the chance to change my fate and it will be easier for me to convince the Alpha to be his Luna.

“Because there’s a consequence enticed with it Cassiopeia.”

That made me look at him confused.

“Don’t you still get it?” He asked, but I just remained my mouth shut.

“That beautiful face carries a huge responsibility and a task to accomplish Cassiopeia, it’s a new identity that has been born last night…”

I slowly shook my head as things slowly sink into my head.

“N-No…”

“Yes, you are the woman in the prophecy Cassiopeia. The strongest she-wolf destined to kill the Alpha with the cursed tattoo on his back. It was you. You are rebirth not just to change the fate of your pack and the werewolf race, but to end his life with your own hands.”
