"What a chip of an old block."

The words mumbled out of every mouth in the court as the majority of their faces shuffled between Ethan and him.

"Are those lenses?" The Judge asked as one of the personnel's around pulled my son out of his misery, leaving him with his natural blue eyes.

I looked at Ethan and could catch him let out a smirk. "Yes, your honor," Ethan replied. "I had seen her use that on him once even when he felt so uncomfortable with it."

I scoffed, then shook my head.

"And why would you do that to your own son, Mrs. Smith?" The Judge queried at me. "Does this have to do with his health? Perhaps, his sight is impaired and needed some support?"

I know lying about Junior's health in the court would lead to a disastrous turn out, leaving Ethan to likely gain full custody of him. He clearly had won over me with this, and I knew I just had to surrender.

"No. No, your honor. His sight is fine. I just... I have no comment."
