Sonny stood in front of the mirror, tugging at the borrowed designer suit again and again.

Copying the Godfather in the movies, he stuffed a nearly wilted rose into his breast pocket and turned to look at me.

“What do you think, Angelina? Is this good enough to go meet Mr. Luca?”

Luca was the second-in-command of the Corleone family in Newford. This time, in their selection of a godson, his approval came first.

I leaned against the doorframe, a slim cigarette between my fingers.

Smoke blurred my face.

The suffocating feeling of being buried alive from my last life still lingered.

I looked at the familiar surroundings and knew with certainty I had been reborn back to this deadly night.

“Have you gone mute? I’m talking to you!”

Sonny strode over impatiently. The blade hidden in his sleeve pressed against my face, sliding slowly downward until it stopped at my carotid artery.

“Keep staring at me like that, and I’ll slash up your face and throw you into the Hudson to feed the fish. You’ve already served your purpose anyway.”

On the couch, my mother, Carmela, lounged in a silk robe, slowly painting her nails a deep red without lifting her head.

“Sonny, easy there. Don’t really ruin her face. She still has to go ‘serve’ Mr. Luca tonight. As long as she keeps him comfortable, that spot will land on you.”

By “serve”, they meant sending me to sleep with Luca, a man in his fifties who reeked of cigarette smoke.

If it worked, they would let me go and return the ID they had withheld from me for ten years.

In my last life, I knew it was a death trap and refused to let Sonny go through with it.

The result was that the three of them buried me alive.

This time, I reached out and gently pushed Sonny’s knife away, then casually straightened his wrinkled collar.

My cold fingertips deliberately brushed against his bobbing Adam’s apple.

“Sonny,” I said lazily, exhaling smoke, “you were born for this.”

Sonny’s eyes lit up.

“But if you want to step into the Corleone family,” I continued, my tone shifting, “selling your sister’s body and wearing borrowed skin isn’t enough. Don Corleone wants wolves that dare to bite, not dogs that only bark.”

“Then what do we do?!” Sonny blurted out.

I smiled, pulled a card from my bag, and slapped it onto the table.

“There’s five hundred thousand on it, which is all of my savings.

“Take it to the black market, buy a real gun, and prepare a ‘gift’ for Luca—one he can’t refuse.”

Lowering my voice, I spoke in the street tone he was used to. “You’ve got to show your determination. Show you’d do anything to enter the family.”

Sonny snatched the card and planted a greasy kiss on my cheek.

“Angelina! I knew you had money stashed away! If you’d taken it out earlier, we’d be done already!”

Carmela blew on her nails and squinted at me. “At least you still have some conscience.”

Vincent grinned, showing a mouthful of yellow teeth.

“Once Sonny gets close to Mr. Luca and becomes Don Corleone’s godson, our family will finally have backing. That’s my good daughter, doing her part for the family.”

I watched their excitement with a cold heart.

‘Take it. This five hundred thousand is just the advance payment on your coffins.

‘You’re all fools, just like me in my last life, who believed in something called family.’

In my previous life, I finally heard the truth from the hitman who came to silence me while I was suffocating after being buried alive.

All the talk about selecting a godson and finding a scapegoat was bullshit.

Don Corleone had staged all of this for one reason only. To find his biological daughter, whom he had lost twenty years ago, and the proof of her identity had been on me the whole time.

I turned and went back to my room, closing the door.

In the darkness, I pulled out a cold cross pendant from under my clothes.

The iris engraved on it glimmered faintly in the moonlight.

This time, the rules of the game would be set by me.

I wiped the blood from my hands.“And notify the old man of the Russo family.“If he doesn’t want the Russo family’s stock to turn into worthless paper tomorrow, before tonight is over, he’d better break Tony’s legs and send him over.“Miss one, and I’ll wipe out the entire Russo family.”Tony was dragged away like a dead dog.The banquet hall fell completely silent.I turned toward Don Corleone, who raised his glass toward me from a distance.“To the Queen.”Every guest lifted their glass in unison.“To the Queen!”After dealing with the Russo clown, I returned to the Corleone estate’s basement one last time.Vincent was muttering to the wall, Carmela huddled in the corner, making strange, broken sounds, while Sonny stared blankly at the ceiling.I stood outside the iron door.“Goodbye, Vincent, Carmela, Sonny.”I gave instructions to the guards.“Replace their nutrient solution with the best available.”“I want them to live to a hundred, and savor every minute of desp

I clapped my hands. The lights in the banquet hall dimmed instantly. A single spotlight snapped on, aimed at the center of the stage. The curtain slowly rose. There stood three massive transparent glass tanks. In the first tank was Sonny. His limbs were completely shattered, his body writhing weakly in nutrient fluid. In the second tank was Carmela, her mouth sewn shut.Vincent was in the third tank, both hands gone. Some guests covered their mouths and began to retch. The cigar slipped from Paul’s fingers and landed on his pants. His face went deathly pale as he stared at me as if he were looking at a ghost.“You… you’re insane! This is… this is torture!”“Torture?” I took a sip of red wine.“Uncle Paul, this is called art. They wanted to be dogs of the Corleone family, so I built them the most luxurious doghouse.“Look how well they’re behaving now.”I suddenly flung the wine straight into Paul’s face.“These three pieces of trash are just the appetizer.”I leaned cl

Inside the private booth, Carmela’s body stiffened violently, and her sunken eyes were filled with disbelief. This was the son she had doted on her entire life.Vincent didn’t even care about the pain anymore. A furious growl tore from his throat as he tried to slam his head into the glass.I gave a light clap.“Dad, look. This is the godson you were originally planning to take in.“In the face of death, he can even put a price on his own parents.”Don Corleone frowned in disgust.“Someone like this isn’t even fit to be a dog.”I stood and walked over to the surveillance microphone.“Sonny, want to live? I’ll give you a chance.”Below, Sonny looked as if he had been given new life. He nodded frantically.“See the red button on the left?“As long as you press it, high‑voltage electricity will surge through the cage. Ivan will be burned to charcoal.“But in exchange, the explosives under the chairs of Vincent and Carmela in the second‑floor booth will be detonated.”Vincen

I stood beside Don Corleone at the very center of power, clearly feeling the intoxicating taste of deciding life and death and of holding other people’s fates in my hands. In my previous life, the people closest to me joined forces to bury me alive. I died in darkness, suffocating in endless pain.In this life, I want them alive, fully conscious, and suffering second by second in endless pain and despair. They would be begging for death day and night, yet never being granted it!“Sonny.”At last, my gaze settled on the figure cowering in the corner, curled into a trembling ball—my so-called “little brother”.“Sis… Angelina… I was wrong… I really know I was wrong… Please forgive me… let me go…” He sobbed uncontrollably, not even daring to look up at me, his forehead slamming repeatedly into the floor.“Don’t call me that.” I walked up to him and crouched down. My movements were almost gentle. “That word coming out of your mouth makes me feel sick.”I reached out and, just like

Carmela’s legs finally gave out. She collapsed to the floor like a pile of mud, her face drained of all color.Vincent clutched his shattered chest. In his eyes, there was nothing left but absolute despair.I walked calmly to Don Corleone’s side and gently hooked my arm around his slightly trembling one.“Dad,” I said softly, my voice sweet and obedient. “Now that you’ve finally found your unfilial daughter… shouldn’t the trash that dared to insult the Corleone family’s daughter be cleaned up?”Don Corleone tightened his grip on my hand. When he looked at the three of them again, there was no emotion left, only the cold gaze reserved for corpses.“That hand that pushed my daughter, cut it off.“And for the filthy mouth that cursed my daughter, sew it shut with the thickest thread.“As for that one…” He cast a look of pure disgust at Sonny, who had wet himself in terror again.“Since he’s so eager to be my son and so desperate to experience the mafia life… Luca, send him to the

Don Corleone froze in place, his pupils shrinking sharply. It was as if an invisible bolt of lightning struck him.“Th-this…” Don Corleone’s voice began to tremble. His gaze was locked on the birthmark beneath my collarbone. Shock, wild joy, and grief churned violently in his eyes, too complex to name.“This mark… Where did it come from?!” His voice was hoarse.Vincent misunderstood completely. He thought Don Corleone was displeased, or worse, that he’d taken a liking to that “special” patch of skin.He immediately shouted at the top of his lungs, afraid others might not hear him.“Don Corleone! This girl may be low-born, but her body is top-notch! Look at that red mark, so seductive! She was born to serve a man like you! A natural sl*t!”Carmela hurried to chime in, terrified of falling behind.“Yes, yes, Don Corleone! This little b*tch has been loose since she was young! Just look at that birthmark! It screams filth! If you like it, I’ll strip off these useless clothes right
